Tunnel Visions - Queensway Mersey Tunnel 60th Anniversary 1994

Stewart Bale was the official photographer during the opening ceremony of the Queensway Tunnel in 1934. 60 years later, he shares his photographs and memories from the day.
Interviews from the men and women who worked on the construction and maintenance of the tunnel give an insight into their skilled work and an provide accounts of some unfortunate casualties.
We see some of the restoration work being carried out ready for the 60th Anniversary celebrations, and finally the public have the opportunity to walk through the tunnel once again, just like in 1934.
