  • A look back at the history of the Mersey Tunnels.
How Queensway became the solution to very slow ferry crossings between Liverpool and the Wirral, and how a few decades later, Kingsway was needed to once again relieve the congestion. Gain an insight in to the many roles that the Mersey Tunnel's Police must take on, and how air pollution is removed via the ventilation stations such as the one at George's Dock. Includes fascinating historic footage from the official opening of Queensway by King George V in 1934, and Kingsway by Queen Elizabeth II in 1971.
