John Chacon says where are you going David Harewood JOPHIELLE LOVE&Peter Armitage David Harewood gets get out of here
We went to the premiere. At the Odeon on London Road? I remember it because also in the audience were Sammy Lee and Willy Russell and the three of us had clearly bought the same tweed overcoat!!!
Jerry Lynn vs Peter Armitage
When I was a child I thought that that cathedral had been bombed during the war and that they were rebuilding it. I didn't know that it had never been fully built. I lived over on the other side of the river.
Most of us in the US only know Liverpool as the hometown of the Beatles. John Lennon got evacuated to Scotland to avoid the blitz, but Ringo Starr spent some time in bomb shelters as a baby. Paul McCartney and George Harrison were born after the blitz.
No mention of the ira bombs that were planted in 1939-40 in liverpool ?
The Fokkers blew our chippy to bits!...Natzi Fokkers!....
I thought Great Howard Street was named after THE ONE AND ONLY HOWARD KENDALL....The Great Manager of EVERTON FC back in the 1980’s...💙...
I knew Dr. George Seymour Swan, ex Liverpool England. He was serving in Liverpool during World War Two, and received the King's commendation for his part in the rescue of Annie Done and Florence Bithell after the Well Lane bombing of 1941. He gave me an account of the event. He said that when Winston Churchhill visited Liverpool, he asked to see the two girls. His reply was "I'm sorry Sir, you can't see them". He said he got an autograph from him. Dr. Swan died at Sydney Australia in 1988 aged 92
Great this. I'm a red myself from a 50/50 family. This takes me back the great daus of 3pm kick offs when we we're all in thus together. When football was for the common working man. I shed a tear fir what we've lost.
i m going we re not finished YEAH but i m BORED
One of the greatest Eccleston performances of all time. This series remains as relevant today as it was in the 90s. Also, David Harewood doesn’t age.
Once again Frank you were wonderfully entertaining. I have learned so many amazing facts watching your series that are so well done. I will be very sorry when they come to an end. Many thanks for the time, effort and humour not to mention the content that you have put into the making of these videos. 😄😄😄
As always Frank another very enjoyable and fascinating video. You really are a wealth of knowledge. Many thanks. 😊😊😊
Thank you Frank for another fascinating video. I really enjoyed it. 😀😀😀
Thank you so very much for doing this video. It is so interesting. I was brought up in Liverpool and I am 76 years old. I left Liverpool when I was 18 to go abroad. I now live in Liverpool again. I have learned so many interesting facts that I didn’t know watching your first video. I am really looking forward to watching all the others. 😊😊😊
Frank Carlyle is such a knowledgeable, and Passionate Scouser his knowledge of Liverpool is captivating I've learnt so much of my home City through his enthralling Narrative....he's a Scouser through to the bone!...👍🏻
My Aunt Moved down to Windmill Hill in the early 80's and I still haven't figured out them damn expressways...
It was Churchill that sent the warship Antrim to attack Liverpool port workers in the early 1900,s strike, workers shot and baton charged by police on horse back, fuck him
Places like this can only thrive with a socialist government; unfortunately we've had decades of neoliberalism which puts the short term interests of large businesses first and sees public services as a way of corruptly transfer wealth from the public to the coffers of company directors and their pet politicians.
Actually this episode say more about dilution teachers who took up teaching as real dream for a better future compared to those who had see it as a pay packet wonderful script very thought provoking
Liverpools History is so fascinating....narrated by Frank, and those bloopers at the end are so funny 😂...How Frank, and Tony managed to get through filming is a miracle!...I couldn't stop laughing seeing Frank sitting on the toilet trying to talk serious (especially with Snelly lookin' at yer!)...🤣...great ending to a brilliant documentary...👍🏻
We've Just lost yosser hughes ya"ll ! r.i.p. Bernard Hill 😢❤🙏
thanks for uploading, missed it the first time around as I was only 12. Worth the 29 year wait!
anyone else get Clocking Off vibes from this? Few of the same actors and theme tune sounds similar! Think that may have been McGovern too. Does anyone know what school in Lpool it was filmed in, is it Calderstones?
haha it's Tinhead off Brookside with the dog and the girl playing Christopher Eccleston's oldest girl was also in Brookie playing Adele Murray's bestie Elizabeth Avis
So what went wrong? Looks like it was planned with due care?
I heard about this film a few years ago, and couldn't find anywhere to watch it. Thanks.
RIP Michael Angelis & Bernard Hill. #Chrissie #Yosser #BFTB
Didn't know this film existed. So many familiar faces.
Professional Scouser. 🏌️
Can't watch this as I can't stand the accent
Bless the wartime generation, what amazing stuff they were made of! ❤🇬🇧
You stated that the statue above the town hall was Britannia, it is actually Minerva.
Only just discovered these videos although I’ve been very interested in our history since I was young. Sure amongst my many local history books I must have one of Franks books. Excellent video 😊
Hodson has lovely hair.
Great this, what I'd add is for people from outside of Liverpool, or those who have never been, the City is football and it is music and the positive/negative connotations they take from that. But, for the people who have been or those who live in & around it, it's about the characters. The people are the city, everything else is just a bonus.
The soldier, drunk on parade, or not? It wasn't Monday was it?
"Oo tawks like dat"?
2024: - What a terrible shame the majority of this land no longer have the sense of community We once did. New folk to a new place - all working together for a successful area to live & flourish, & call home. The people of today could learn a thing or two from the people of the past.
Smashing it long haul plans
Amazing that they lived through that situation. And they kept their spirits up .
I've always found Halton in general an unusual but intriguing place.
Me and my mate bumped into Frank while having a bevvie in Ye hole in Ye wall pub in Liverpool,he told us the history of the pub and a few other ineresting facts, what a lovely fella.
Looks like a disaster waiting to happen, I guess the toffs who designed this never lived there.
I miss the old Castlefields, it was a great community, I still live here but it's just not the same, completely unrecognisable.
50 years on its a shithole
Take people out of concrete jungles ... and put them in ... concrete jungles!
By the late 70s it was a hellhole lol
bit OTT on the scouce accent nobody talks like this off camera
Yes, laid on a bit thick I thought, including the deliberate bad grammar, but still entertaining.
