"Music helps you shift perspective to see things differently if you need to."
"See things like hope?"
"Yes, very much like that."
I own nothing. All rights go to Fox tv.
One of my favorite moments in the series.
Same here!
I broke down.
One of my favorite moments in any series
Seriously, this cut me to the core. Such upbeat music for such a gut wrenching moment
Actually brought a tear to my eye
He should have received an Emmy just for this one scene.
zerospin exactly!
Then he should have received 4, 1 for each of the other Walter’s he played ... just on a re-watch 2021!
@@cs-williams me too
@@cs-williams I thought there were only 2 Walters? What did I miss?
John Noble deserved way more recognition for Fringe. Top tier performance as Walter, but couple that with playing the same person but the full more arrogant, smart, confident, brutal and ruthless version of himself at the same time? Damn. When you can look at exactly the same person and see two different characters, that's acting. Case and point, the episode where Walter gets all of his brain connected for a short period and goes from confused old man to "I'm in charge and better than all of you, how dare you be in my home" sort of thing on a dime. Incredible stuff.
But this scene cements who our Walter really is for me, hold back tears every time and it makes me love the song more because of it
Am I the only one still coming back to watch this scene just for a good ole cry? Definitely top 5 moments in the series. Even hearing the song randomly gives me chills.

No.
How John Noble brought Walter to life,.. I can't even imagine that Walter Bishop is a fictional character; John Noble's portrayal of Walter's humanity, his fragility, his suffering, and also all the places where he found joy; it's truly amazing how he made Walter so uniquely real and so human.
Not to mention the stressful times undergone by moving entire episodes around and having to jump thru the hoops to learn all the new lines. Too bad the critics are just critics. If they were "REAL" actors, true talent and mastery of the screen would be recognized and given credit vice trampled on and stumbled over trying to get to the next Beyonc`e concert.
I love his tiny mannerisms and reactions to every situation. He's so expressive while barely twitching a handful of facial muscles :)
Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of this scene. Wonderful scene. I miss Fringe. :(
Robbert van Rijsewijk I just heard it in Lucifer and had to come here again.
Same her, it brought this all up again, but the song was better suited for this Fringe scene than Lucifer's improvised prom one in my opinion
Oh yeah, definitely.
This song is playing on the radio just now and I immediately headed here.
@@floriancossu1681 I think both work and I think Luci just googled good songs that were popular at the time and picked one of the best
This is one of the best if not the best scene from Fringe. The acting, the music and the symbolism with dandelion flower rising from the barren dust and concrete (the same flower Etta was playing with in the park). Just perfect in every possible way. John Noble was terrific in this entire episode but this scene is the pinnacle. I thought he would earn an Emmy nod for this scene alone. Frankly, this is the best opening episode of a season that any TV shows can hope for.
Best scene in any TV show ever... it broke me
@@becr9369🙏🏻🙌🏼💕❤️
one of the best scenes in television history.
this scene will be shown in classrooms in 30 years.
Yes, it will.
Haha, Relax Skyrim you got a point but you also gotta accept that this is one hell of a great scene to remember.
I really hope so
I watch this whenever I need hope...
John Noble deserves an Oscar!
This scene always makes me happy sad. This show is amazing.
Me too.
This scene gave me goosebumps the 1st time I saw it, still does. 2020 in these times of COVID-19, there's hope, and if we fail at least we fought.....
We're still here.
October 2022 and still here ❤️🥺
July 2023 and you are not alone
for me personally one of the most powerful scenes of the series. it just really represents walter and shows that no matter how bad everything is, he always finds peace and hope in music. i just love this show to death, waiting for year for them to make a revival, who knows, maybe one day we'll see them all again.
"Walter what are you doing?"
"I am trying to make chocolate milk... or rather I am trying to make the cow make chocolate milk."
*Calling out to Astrid*...
"Gretchen...! Bring me the..."
I love Walter so much.
One of my top scene with music, from all series ever made.
A lot of years (6?) have passed already, and I still come back only to see again this scene. One of the best or just the best scene of Fringe I can remember. John Noble´s Walter Bishop character.... what a magnificent performance!
I never heard this song before watching Fringe and when the music started playing, my mind exploded! incredibly emotional and inspiring scene.
Amazing ending for an amazing show. Anyone else notice the seahorse hanging from the rear view mirror?
Holy shit! Can't believe I missed that. It's like he was meant to find it.
definitely one of the best scenes on the show.
“In the darkness, there’s always a crack. It’s how the light gets in.”
what always gets me with fringe is how emotionally compelling it is while maintaining a clearly out their sci fi plotline. john noble is one of the best
This is how you do it 'Once Upon a Time' producers. Timing and effect.
+L.G.H. Djoetma Are you talking about them using Only You? Whenever I hear the song I just think of this scene
263Adder More the way they used it.
It was a little weird.
263Adder When I heard it in Fringe it was perfect. I saw Walter in his 'maybe dream', he finds a CD and the song starts. It's a great song and it was a long time since I had heard it, since it's not there in most of the the all-time top 100's that we hear at the end of each year.
In OUaT it's used as a general song, they just play it, there's nothing special about the moment. The next episode they play it again, making it even less special.
I se what you mean. As well in this scene, Walter has always loved music yet when you see that the CDs are broken it shows they don't play music anymore. For Walter finding music, as well as seeing the flower growing, is a sign that there is hope and things will return to normal.
What an amazing show.
I loved the message of this part. Walter has always needed music to see hope and another way of doing things. The music helps to set the mood and the flower shows Walter that life always finds a way. That flower seems to be growing in a place where plants don't grow.
One of the best scenes in TV history
fringe, I miss u so much…what Im I supposed to do now?? please come back!!!
still missing it, doing a rewatch at the moment.
I just watched this scene again, and I didn't think it could get more moving until hearing the Observer say "Nothing grows from scorched Earth." I really needed that today.
There never has been nor will there ever be a show as good as fringe again!!
this is incredible scene... very touching
best scene of the series. just perfect
Loved that scene so much! And I had never noticed the seahorse in the car before. ♥️
This scene devastated me, emotionally.
One of the most poignant and quintessential uses of music for a scene. For those of us that know WB's backstory all the more. For peeps that never heard of the Walter character - the scene alone as a dysptopic and hopeless setting makes the music/lyrics a virtual cortexiphan explosion
Don't forget that Walter had just been rescued from the hell he'd just been through and he missed music so very badly & hadn't heard it in who knows how long... this was such a poignant scene coz we know where he'd just come from & the music was of such simplistic style...almost the very essence of his pain...
This hits so hard. Love it. 😥
This has to be my favourite scene from all of Fringe so far too. For me it's how music can be so inspiring in some ways. That one song just takes you away to that right place. The addition of the strings to the song is so beautiful. I kind of want to hear more of it.
I miss Fringe....love you Walter! What a great long journey you have...
This scene was unexpected gold. Walter just having some time to vibe was so pure
Agreed. : )
Whenever I'm feeling down I watch this scene. Powerful fr.
I have watched every single episode of Fringe, and I love it with all my heart. I have felt all kinds of emotions watching the show, but the only other episode that has truly and deeply moved me like this one did was White Tulip. This moment was just....so touching and beautiful. So sad this is the last season! I am definitely going to own all 5 and watch the series beginning to end every year.
Blown away by the White Tulip episode!
Watched it again. Love it. Fringe forever.
Exactly! I still got chills all over my body. Perfection.
I think some people just don't have enough sensitivity to get this show. Too bad.
This scene is beyond amazing.
The Version used in Fringe is Alison Moyet solo - post Yazoo/Yaz. I played the Fringe clip side-by-side with the Alison Moyet CD "singles" and it is a match. If you really listen to the Yaz version, it sounds brighter, crisper, and her voice sounds younger. In her solo version, I detect a quality that only comes with life experience; perhaps a kind of sadness.
Haha that's how I've heard yazoo for the first time! Amazing walter
When the world is destructed , a flower pops up in the desolation ... Hold on Walter , everything is gonna be all right
My all-time favorite show.
I don't cry easily or often (But I wish I did). When I want to I watch this because it's so awesome. It's one of the few things I've watched that can move me. Rewatching it doesn't make me feel it any less. For me, this is a true masterpiece.
One of the best series, John Noble was so epic
Such an unexpected and epic moment. It got me pumped up for S5 the first time and I'm sure every time in the future when I watch it from S1 to S5.
Thank you for posting this. This episode ending was so much more than the others. Very emotional, especially the dandelion. Cheers to you and yours...
I know this feeling.
I'm feeling it right now watching it.
John Noble, such an underrated actor.
Started rewatching this on SYFY, best series ever....
It's those added cello strings that come in right at the end. Gets me every time. Such a beautiful scene.
makes me cry after all this time :)
This is simply the single best scene in the 5 years of the show. The addition of the absolutely classic Yazoo song was a revelation. It had been years since I'd heard that song... I felt like Walter did....
De los mejores finales de una serie mítica, aquí estoy agosto 2021, disfrutando
Wow!...I've seen this episode tonight on Pro 7!...I love this song, i get a "duck-skin" instantly!...;-) Best TV - Series produced ever!!!...I can see it again and again!...
*David Attenborough voice* This is the first living example of the JJ Abrams species ever exhibiting its obsession with lens flares in a way that contributes to its own survival. Bravo.
Captain Widmark: "nothing grows from scorched-earth."
Walter Bishop: "hold my root beer float. "
Still here in 2019!! What a great series!!
Second favorite Fringe scene behind the scene where Peter and Walter watch his goodbye tape then they hug. Hadn't cried because of a TV show since LOST
Best Fringe scene ever. Could not believe the song that came on. Yazoo- Only You. Brilliant.
I MISSED FRINGE WHEN IT WAS ON AIR, BUT I DISCOVERED IT ON NETFLIX AND FINISHED ALL SEASONS IN LESS THAN 1 MONTH... I AM IN LOVE AND HEARTBROKEN THAT ITS OVER. WALTER WAS MY IDOL. THE BEST TASTE IN MUSIC!!! ALL OF HIS SONGS OVER ALL SEASONS ROCKED, AND WHEN HE BUSTED OUT THE 80s, LIKE THIS ONE, MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT! XOXO FROM CHICAGO...
Love this. Lifelong Yazoo fan (Yazoo in US) and big fan of fringe. This actually brought a tear to the eye.
I think what makes this scene one of the most powerful the show has ever had is not just the music at the end, but the silence before it. Such a perfect balance, and really, unlike a lot of what we've seen from the show before this.
Can't stop watching this scene, frankly.
Una delle più belle opere...
Musica, Regia e Fotografia eccellenti. Bravi!
The Observer said that nothing would grow from scorched earth. When Walter sees that flower growing amidst the rubble, he realizes that somehow, everything will work out in the end.
one of the best character ive ever seen!
WALTER BISHOP!
This scene transcends time and space.... this moment Walter is
in another dimension - music, this dimension is like a wormhole running through the series - a shortcut out of everything
watching the end of this epp made me teat up and a little smile. just how deep they are falling. Just with a small flower and a simple song gives you hope when all looks lost.
I could never have imagined that a show that started like Fringe did would have a scene that could move you as this scene did.
This scene have a 'The Last of Us' feeling... I love it!
Tears every time. Best series ever. Wazrom!
It so is. This and "Yazoo - Only You (Fringe / Walter Bishop)" I keep watching over and over. I think it has become my favorite scene of the series. There are so many outstanding moments, so many of them with Walter, but the feeling of hopelessness turning into hope with a little dandelion and a perfect song says everything anyone needs to know about Fringe.
With Gandolfini-Tony Soprano and Bryan Craston-Walter White, John Noble-Walter Bishop is the best combination actor-character in a tv serie. I miss every moment of the 3 series: this is one of the best final ever
Even after all this years this scene it's one the most touching part of a TV show I've ever seen
I was a huge rocker when this came out. Didn't matter, this and the other Yaz songs were and are awesome. One of the best, richest voices ever.
This is probably my favourite scene of all Fringe episodes. I cant even give a reason for it, but it was just so good
Questo è stato un capolavoro della quinta serie. Indimenticabile.
Love this scene so much. Such a fantastic actor(s)! Fringe is the best. : )
My favorite character from this series. Although I'm still in love with Anna Torv.
Love Walter
UNA PRECIOSA CANCION, PARA UNA DE LAS MEJORES SERIES QUE HE VISTO EN TODA MI VIDA. GRANDE YAZOO Y GRANDE WALTER BISHOP
Very good to know. I thought it sounded a bit different, but I hadn't thought to look for it yet. Thank you. I'll have to take a listen tomorrow.
I love this clip
An utterly beautiful moment that set the scene perfectly for the rest of the season.
Egg sticks or lazoo? Ez
Best most moving moment of the series. Ty fox for giving us an conclusion
Loved this too. Rewound it several times, it just resonated with a soulful part of me. Thankyou for sharing.
The world is ending and i miss music if the only playable cd i found is yazoo only you, then i am the luckiest person in the world
Walter is my favorite character because he affects the emotions of the viewers so much. He makes me want to cry every time.
Exactly, I think everything from season 2 onward was Joel Wyman's doing. He's a great writer.
Probably the best scene in an otherwise miserable season.
It's not their fault they only had half a season of episodes to work with. Fox is really too blame for cutting the episodes for the last season in half.
The best scene in the whole series in my opnion. Superb acting and fantastic choice of tune to round up the episode. Well done to all involved in making it :)
"There is no hope, Nothing grows from scorched Earth" said the Observer to Walter...I think Walter saw the flower and knows there is always Hope. Fantastic Show !
😭😭😭 I miss this show... Thank God for Netflix...
Thank you!! Such a beautiful scene. What a lovely, simple and yet and complicated soul Walter has. The music is as well.
I feel that this scene is powerful because it's the first step towards the end. This song kind of gives a sense of finality for the series, and hope for the fringe team
Amanda,
I want you to know that you're my dandelion. My daily reminder that everything is going to be OK.
I love you.
on my 2nd rewatch and this scene just broke me I can't
This scene is still relevant today and how awesome it was. #2020
I'm curious, too, but I had so many shows at the time & the ads didn't grab me. I knew I had to keep watching after the pilot, though, if only to see more Walter. The end of the first season was so compelling. And by season 2's "Snakehead" I knew I could never turn back, no matter what might happen.
Fringe might be responsible for a lot of hospitalizations. The penultimate episode of season 2 kept me nearly sleepless for an entire week because I was so afraid they'd kill Walter in the finale.
