- One of the benefits of a garden is that you can save on your food bill even after the garden has quit producing by preserving some of the harvest. Pickling, canning, and freezing, along with dehydrating and freeze drying are some of the methods used. In this video, I show how to freeze fresh green beans in a method that will preserve the fresh taste for up to 6 months.
This is so very helpful! Im growing my first bunch of Blue Lake bush beans and small beans have just appeared this week. Im in Zone 7a (South New Jersey). Wont be long now before I am doing the very same technique!
Yes, I just made my 4th picking today, and don't have a lot more room in the freezer. These frozen beans will provide delicious meals all fall. I wish you much success with your picking and freezing. Thanks for watching
Just what I needed. I love green beans and planted many more this year than in the past. My earliest planting of bush beans are full of flowers and It looks like I will have lots of beans coming in at once. Now I will know how to freeze them.
Thank you so much.
Great to hear Beth - Pick em clean and they will reward you with another crop. Thanks for watching.
Awesome!!!! Thank you!
Now if there was a easy way to string pole beans lol. I am all about easy. My neighbors all think I'm nuts but I grow my own stuff in town.
Nothing like "growing your own" Thanks for watching

Thank you for showing me could I use cold water.
Sure, the whole idea of ice water is just to make the cooling process faster.

How is the beans' quality and taste upon thawing from the freezer in November? Are the thawed beans best used only as ingredients in casseroles or is their quality fresh enough to serve by themselves?
Like any frozen food, quality is reduced by time. Also how many times the freezer is opened and closed (partial thaw and refreeze) affects the quality. But usually they are still good to serve by themselves at Thanksgiving. After that I use in stews and soups usually.
