this happened to me once with an annoying co-worker when i was working as a consultant. she started raising questions about my invoices from nowhere and tried to compromise my bag. that's when i knew you gotta write EVERYTHING down and have evidence for every little thing
Yep, these situations tend to come up when you least expect them. Best to always be prepared!
I've also had situations where I wished did more CYA documentation. Looking back at my 14 years doing analytics though, those jobs weren't worth keeping. Rather than put that energy into CYA, I wish I had just put that into interviewing. Interviewing is the most important skill in tech and it's good to be comfortable doing it. If your employer is second guessing you to the point that you wish you had spent an hour a day on a journal, it's not the place you wanna be.
I agree Ryan. Dealing with micro management takes time away from actually producing results. One of those things that come with the territory I guess. Are you still in tech by the way?
Yup! I really like how much demand there is for workers in tech
@@ryanendersmith I’m with you on that one!
I've been having a similar issue lately where I'm getting a lot of work done for both of my jobs and I even work on side projects and a contract job.
It'll come down to reporting my progress in a meeting, im so scrambled that I cant think of all the work I got done. Its a little frustrating because I end up looking like I didn't get much done but really I just can't remember it all on the spot. So ill be joining you in making sure I keep my own personal log so I dont have to rely on my memory.
Awesome! I’ve found that a few bullet points help guide my train of thought, specially when I get blindsided on standup meetings.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
You're welcome G.
