It sure seems like a lot of other posts and videos gloss right over how bare bones it is. I kept hearing about potential rather than what it could actually do. After experiencing the Psio and Terraonion products I really don't trust in potential anymore. If anything It really highlights how mature the HDMI projects from Citrus3000psi and PixelFX have been. When it comes to ODE and video mods I want them to just work. Thank you for doing the video. Hopefully it saves some people from going in with high expectations.
This thing has the potential to do things that weren't possible before, but I definitely agree that listing features on the Features page that the chip doesn't support yet was a bad move. I was disappointed with how basic it was when I first got mine (I went back to Cerbios at first), but features have been added that made me switch back to it (1.4ghz support, more partition layouts). It has a lot of potential, but will take time for that potential to become a reality. I'm excited to see what comes out over the next few months, but as it stands, it still has a lot of room to grow. I think Dustin (Makemhz) is a very talented developer who is capable of delivering on promised features, but again, expectations were set (by him) that the chip could do more than what it currently offers, and that created a lot of issues I see people have with it. Also, loading other BIOSes would be cool, but I can kind of understand why that isn't a priority for them. If all you want to do is load Cerbios, this chip isn't for you. Doing so would negate the need for an ARM co-proccesor and all the work that went into re-compiling the stock BIOS at boot time. I was interested in Stellar for the platform that it is, not just the ability to run unsigned code and such, like other chips/BIOSes offer. Once it matures, it will be impressive. For now it's still somewhat early in its life cycle and has plenty of room to grow before it becomes a truly compelling product. That co-proccesor excites me though. One drawback of the way Xboxes operate is that they don't have the ability to multi-task. When you launch a game or app, that's all that is running. With Stellar, it opens up the possibility of running background tasks. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see plugins that do all kinds of fancy things, like maybe even having an Xbox-360-like overlay on top of apps, where you can take screenshots, play music or perform other tasks without rebooting. StellarOS already kind of does this when you launch into its menu during startup, which shows the potential for this. But users need to be aware that they're mostly paying for what's to come later, as opposed to what it currently is. I knew this when buying, but was still kind of surprised what features were "planned" versus what was already supported. Updating that Features page would go a long way towards transparency and setting expectations accordingly.
Thank you for this video. Was really looking into getting the best HDMI option and figured Stellar might be nice to have aswell but i'm having second thoughts now. Maybe better to spend some money on a cheap adapter and live with the less than perfect image quality and a simple TSOP flash but save more than a €100. Problem is for me at least revisiting an old console is always very shortlived ... afterwards it goes back in the box for another decade. Also these day's shipping half working stuff is becoming the norm .. from games to even cars it all get shipped asap with promises, bugfixes, payed services down the line. They say "updates" i see shit that should have worked in the first place. Thanks for bringing a critical view to this ... especially compared to the other video's arround. I don't get why stuff needs to be sold before it's finished ... no doubt this is an amazing piece of kit worth of the price and props to the makers but just finish it and then sell it not before and everyone will be much happier.

I was super excited for the stellar, installed it, then realized I had to buy an upgrade kit to connect it to my HDMI+. Got the kit an installed everything, XBOX crashed constantly. The mobo had been recapped so I decided to try another power supply I had lying around, thinking maybe some aging caps on my current PSU were at fault. Upon booting the new PSU something shorted on said PSU and completely killed my HDMI+ and the input board for the display it was plugged into. The XBOX is 100% a-ok, and I know this is my fault, but you'd think there would be some better protection on the board, the fact that nothing died on the XBOX, but my HDMI+ and monitor are now dead, makes me concerned about the fragility of this expensive hardware. Dell is at least happily replacing my monitor after I explained what happened, but I'm left with a dead HDMI+ that is now roughly twice what I paid for it to replace. If he's changed his mind about xiso then that's great news. Still I'll believe it when I see it. Currently there is sliders in the UI to enable ISOS, I tested my xiso set and and they did not work.
Wouldn’t the fact that this allows you to use an upgraded CPU make this a no-brainer as the other problems can be compensated for? I’m not saying the company is correct in what they have done I’m just trying to decide whether or not I want to buy it if you were building the ultimate Xbox what revision would you get and then which mods would you apply??

Finally, someone has come out and said it. Biggest waste of money. My Xbox has less features now, than it did before. None of my games will launch, the traditional HDD setup that works with most modchips, does not work, none of the features I bought this chip for, actually exist even though there was no indication of that when I preordered. And the wait...I pre ordered in January, with the promise that it would ship in February, but didn't receive until June, just to be complete disappointment.
hello ModzvilleUSA! i believe there are still some things missing for this chip to be 100% i talk a lot about the original xbox in brazil, hello on my channel, your channel is very good!
I thought the MakeMHZ HDMI mod seemed pointless to me. No surprise here that this thing is a massive disappointment, seemed like most of the advertised features were just crazy pipe-dreams.
It's not pointless but without better scaling (limited to 720p/1080i maximum) the image quality improvement doesn't justify the price and work. Best to wait for PixelFX (creators of the PS1Digital) to release their HDMI mod for the xbox.
@@MichaelM28 I honestly wouldn't let the scalability of it determine if its worth a purchase or not. If it already had all the features it had listed then it'd be a no alternative buy for anyone looking to get the best out of their xbox, especially since unlike PixelFX's type of digital mods, the whole point of XboxHD+ was fixing compatibilities and trying to create a more native mod of running HD content on an HD capable machine. I personally think even a straight 480p digital mod just to lose the digital to analog conversion would be great with Retrotink 4k on the horizon within another year or two as having digital to provide out to an upscaler that accepts digital that's going to go much further than any individual mod in any system is going to give the best experience you'll probably ever get.
@@MichaelM28 I prefer the method MakeMHZ had for the HDMI implementation; use as much of the base hardware to generate the video; if you need any advanced features, let a scaler (like the RT4k) handle it for you. While PixelFX makes great products, they tend to be an all-in-1 solution which means you got the full scaler + features which results in longer dev time, more bugs in the beginning, and significantly higher up front cost. XBOX HD+ is more similar to how GCVideo works in that respect.
@@ModzvilleUSA They offer excellent scaling too. The fact that the MakeMhz mod can't scale above 720p/1080i is pathetic. Hopefully the PixelFX mod can do 1440p or atleast 1080p.
When u advertise features of a product and can't ship with everything and don't tell anyone, customers have plenty of room to be disappointed. One can be disappointed and also patient at the same time. If he couldn't ship as needed he could have been up-front or delayed it. Things start looking like a sucker act when your product ends up being a released beta for customers to test. lmao
They weren’t honest when they sold this to people. Everyone learned how rough this thing is when they got it. When you sell people something dishonestly people are going to be pissed. Simple as that
@@ModzvilleUSA Pissed cause features are not there while he's working on them, find it a bit cheap (my thought),but everyone think what he wants, maybe he could be a bit more clear on what he's working on,but like i said before, its not a whole team,he does it alone, give him time to implement stuff and more important TEST them so they work as intended on release, far better then like on psio where you got in the first year weekly updates that broke more then it fixed.

Thanks for the info glad i never purchased one as im still on the hunt for a good HD mod that works as im using a modded wii2hdmi at the moment
Any HD mod suggestions are welcome 😊
Retrotink 4K with Original Component cables
I enjoy it but kinks are getting ironed out might as well wait tho and save ya money.I was bored and wanted something to do as a project.Hopefully with help from other devs this will and engineers this will see its full potential
XISO, ISO and CISO are now here. Same for 128MB. Grab firmware 1.2.0 and be happy
I've heard csos run terribly. Glad it's been implemented but cerbios is still the better choice unless you have a cpu upgraded console
@@ModzvilleUSA so far what i've tried ran well, but I haven't done any CSOS yet as I have none. I'll download one or two to give a try. I really needed the 128MB support and it's there now. No doubt cerbios is great, that's not even in question. But for once I'm happy MakeMHz came through on some of the promised features.
Open source chips just CANNOT stop winning
Bro I havent even watched the video but I'm super grateful to see some doubt cast on this market. These products, their support, and their discord massively let me down. I dont buy his products anymore.
I DM'd Dustin a while back about what file library to build up and he specifically told me that xiso would be supported.
For a cpu upgraded console Stellar is a no brainier for sure once 128mb gets supported, ideally xiso as well. Fingers crossed another bios implants these cpu upgrade features.
Sans cpu upgrade Ultimate Xbox for me is…
1.0
Noctua cpu fan
X3 + x3cp
Cerbios cci set
Xbmc4gamers
Internal ogx360
128mb ram.
@@ModzvilleUSA for the CPU upgrade if you don’t need a switch in order to switch it back to 700 MHz isn’t that is easy as just buying a better CPU and dropping it in or this morning to be done for the CPU swap? Thank you so much for this information. It’s so confusing it’s nice to see someone making awesome videos about it. Thank you.!
@@ModzvilleUSA what about other chips? Do they work? I see alladin chips for $10 which makes me afraid to try it until I hear what others are saying
This thing is awesome its just not got everything ready yet
Anything*
This this thing is basic AF right now.
I heard something very disturbing about the owner.
Makemhz updated stellar last night to 1.2.0 which brought xiso ciso and iso support :)
Not officially listed on website yet.
@Negrodomaus sorry when I typed that I was referring to the github page :) not the website
Actually slightly irritated that it doesn't support cci format
Finally, someone has come out and said it. Biggest waste of money. My Xbox has less features now, than it did before. None of my games will launch, the traditional HDD setup that works with most modchips, does not work, none of the features I bought this chip for, actually exist even though there was no indication of that when I preordered. And the wait...I pre ordered in January, with the promise that it would ship in February, but didn't receive until June, just to be complete disappointment.

Zombies ate my neighbors!!
Thanks a lot man . I was just about to purchase Project Stellar but you have convinced me otherwise!
I was kinda onto it too. But my personal option is that the developer just might be slow. So I'd check out the project after some months again
@@0xZero0swe still, it’s shady for them to release this as a finished product when it is a beta at best
@@Trebliw8 Btw, yeah. You got a point there. I'm not into it very much
zombies are my neighbors.
How Stellar didn’t get her groove back?
I'm surprised there's still no way to run games from SMB like on PS2
i'm glad you made this video! after macho nacho's show i was going to buy one.
It feels like my cerbios tsop flash is better than this. Cheaper easier and has support for 16tb drives.
Yup cerbios is objectively better than stellaros and it's free
Thanks for a FAIR and informative video Modzville! Appreciate you giving it to us straight!
What a stellar failure.
hello
ModzvilleUSA! i believe there are still some things missing for this chip to be 100% i talk a lot about the original xbox in brazil, hello on my channel, your channel is very good!
XBOX HD+ is more similar to how GCVideo works in that respect.
stellar bios is incompatible with some games like wolfenstein..
😂😂😂😂😂 I’m with you bro !! CERBIOS !!!!!!!
😂 you missed legacy support , sd card support for hdd/img, and much much more And bugs bugs freezing
Legacy hdds has been sorted out now but I mentioned it wasn’t available on launch
@ModzvilleUSA sorry to clarify I ment legacy bios support . It was said that it would support loading bios off the SD card
@@ohap1234 oh right, yeah that's still not a thing lol.
Can't wait for the PixelFX Xbox HDMI port. It should run circles around MakeMHz's one
I hope they do it. Pixelfx makes products that just work without compromises
@@ModzvilleUSA They offer excellent scaling too. The fact that the MakeMhz mod can't scale above 720p/1080i is pathetic. Hopefully the PixelFX mod can do 1440p or atleast 1080p.
@@MichaelM28 totally. Cerbios with component and external scaler is the way to go

Wow, I thought about buying this but after watching this video I will stay TF away from this thing.
Almost bought this too i was lookkng for info on this and found your videos ,glad i didnt buy
Glad I saved you from some disappointment. This thing is no where near ready.
You could say Project Stellar isn't stellar
Retro community dung-flinging at its finest folks.
Think people need to learn to have some patience, its not that he has a whole team around him, think in the next weeks some updates coming.
@@Fille-lj1qv they were blatantly dishonest in their marketing. Had they been up front this wouldn’t be an issue.
