Hi, love the videos. I have just completed my beta IDE cable using 40pin FFC cable and... it works :) I got fed up of those annoying thick IDE 80 wire 40 pin cables i had to try to get rid and now, i have, the first build is good, i need to polish it up a bit but cerbios appears to be happy with it and i think if that is then all others should be :). The inside of the case looks a lot cleaner now
Are you happy with that 4TB? I just looked that one up and can't figure out if it's CMR or SMR. Suppose its CMR since it was released in 2016? Does it have much noise, compared to a WD Blue 2TB 7200rpm, WD20EZBX? Would Cerbios BFM allow larger than 2TB on a softmod? If so, do you still delete G, and Max out F in FatX? If using 80 wire, Startech, and a 7200rpm, would selecting anything above UDMA 2 on a softmod do anything? Edit: Just tested a 3TB and UDMA 5 on a BFM softmod, and both work.
Man I wish I had this back when I was trying to mod these things.. I spent forever trying to figure out how to download cerbios.. what took me hours i could have had figured out in minutes
So if a game is ISO only, i.e. with neither CCI nor HDD rip compatibility, does that mean it must be burned to a physical disc or is there another way? Can such a disc be copied to the hard drive using DVD2Xbox? (I assume no, othewise that would be an HDD rip.)
Are you able to elaborate on UDMA and how to know which one to go with in the Cerbios tool? I am very green and this will be my first time modding my Xbox. I am unsure of what parts (HD, etc,) that decide which UDMA to select. And what will happen if I select one that won’t work… I am unsure of what you mean by ‘green ones’ and ‘star tech’ @ 27:51.
@@ModzvilleUSA thank you. I appreciate you and these in-depth videos. I’m just learning the jargon and making sure I understand what I need to complete this. One last question. I have XBE files for games. Can I convert these to CCI or do I have to have the original ISO in order to convert to CCI. With me having the XBE files, is it really worth it to covert at all or is the sizing of them worth keeping as they are?
If your games are in xbe format, with a bunch of folder/files, you have them in the extracted format. I haven't ran Repackinator yet, but generally, you would use Repackinator with your redump style iso's, to compress into CCI. I'm not sure if Repack converts the extracted format games into CCI. I do believe your xbe is no longer valid with CCI, as Repack makes its own xbe.@@MileHighScaleModeler
i have no collection yet. do i need CCI or CISO? can i just have a big ass drive instead? EDIT: holy foook, one hour! i'm gonna have to come back to this one, looks like i have a lot to learn
I’ve probably got 10-15 Xbox hard drives but they’re all locked. I don’t have mod chips so I’m always hesitant about unlocking original Xbox drives, but yeah just a stack of em collecting dust, gotta figure out what to do with em, glad I didn’t throw em out yet
I have been looking on the internet and cannot find a sound answer on what’s the biggest capacity a Xbox One X can utilize for a HDD or SSD that is clones from the original HDD it has. I am wanting to upgrade my current 1TB to a higher capacity but not sure if 2,3,4TB is the maximum capacity for a quick clone without any scripts being used. I have a lot of Xbox360 and OG Xbox games that are backwards compatible and will need disc space.
Back when I did a 1TB ssd swap on my 1X in 2021, I stuck with the same size, 1TB. I read some people say that if you stuck a 2TB in, and ever needed to reset to factory, it would only format to 1TB, as that's what it came with. After the reset, you would have to modify something to get back to 2TB. I had plans to sell the xbox eventually, and didn't want that burden put on the future owners, if they ever did a wipe, it would be safe for them. I don't know if anything over 2TB would work, as that's the largest they came with. I believe you can go 2TB, but keep in mind, that if you ever wipe it to sell, it may default to 1TB.
@@bomb447 thank you for this answer! This help tremendously. I think I will go with a external hard drive as I can utilize unlimited space based on the external and it will play games directly to xbox unlike the series X.
I was told it just removes the junk dvd video files, for when you put the game discs in a dvd player or ps2, a generic video plays, telling you to insert into the xbox. I think they call that padding, not sure.
I would love some help. I paid to have someone remodify my Xbox. It's pretty cool, it has this layout cerbios, but it's incredibly slow! It can take minutes just to turn on the Xbox and load up to the home screen. It freezes occasionally too.
Can you find a file manager and see what it says each partitions free space is? If you have the original xbox dashboard installed as an app, load it and disable 1080i, it does nothing but cause issues. 720p looks just fine and uses less resources.
Is there a way to compress games which are not listed in repackinator? Since I am from EU, I use PAL CRT TV. I have read that some titles can be loaded to repackinator by editing JSON file in program's directory. Anyone got exp with this?
Repack only works with redump style isos I believe. That way if you have a problem with a game, verifying the sha256 hash of it confirms the game isn't corrupt. There are 2 databases. Json and altjson. Json contains the primary list of normal games and is loaded by default. If you want to browse the other database, simply rename altjson to json, and rename json to whatever you want, alt2json, for example. When you want the original database back, just rename alt2json to it's original name of json, and change the current json back to its original altjson. It's just a bunch of name swapping, easy enough.
i bought the 80 wire ide you have linked in the description only to find that it has its connector facing the wrong way for the xbox, also mine didn't seat at all on 2 out of 3 of the connectors, would not recommend anyone buy that, also 18inch is small for an xbox ide cable
@@ModzvilleUSA nope its in the right way, it half plugs in but does not fully seat, and the connector is on the wrong side for an xbox, makes sense to be that direction for a pc but doesn't work too well in an xbox if you want it folded exactly like the original
just tried it again managed to get it to seat fully, had to put a ton of pressure on it though, seems like a decent quality cable otherwise just i dont like that the connector is the wrong direction and the length
just tried it and it does not work, most of the time it doesn't even get to the cerbios boot screen but i managed to get it to boot that far once after reversing the cable (shorter end to the hdd instead of to the motherboard), but then it gave a hdd error, also after unplugging it from the motherboard the latch on the top of the connector broke off, i will never buy another cheap ide cable from aliexpress, i had another cable a few years ago that literally broke the first time i unplugged it
@@christopolis1 only ones that fold like the original are the ones Kekule makes but he’s not doing them at the moment. I’ve used a ton of the ones I have linked without issue.
is there a trick to get the artwork installer to scrape the art for panzer dragoon orta? i'm running the latest version of xbmc4gamers and the artwork installer 3.1. All my other games have scraped fine, just cant get orta to be recognised. tried ripping the disc with the xbox dvd app, ripped it both methods (extracted and iso), also tried other backups of the game, all the same result. i see rocky made a video how to create your own artwork but its a long winded process and i cant imagine art doesnt already exist for this game in the artwork installer, unfortunately theres no way to interigate the database to confirm or manually download them. EDIT: The answer is to use an NTSC copy of the game. the pal version is not covered by the artwork installer. i even attempted making the artwork myself but the cd images didnt work, nor did the final task, worth a try but maybe this is an outdated tut as its 5 years old.
For future reference, if you install new artwork and they don't show in 4Gamers, run the built in Thumbnail Cleaner script. This wipes them all and loads the correct ones.
