After numerous requests, I'm excited to share this solo version of "Woodland Dance." I hope you enjoy it, and I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
Mr. Messick, when i saw your new album i literally squealed with delight 😂❤! This is one of my favorite songs by you and i absolutely love the Album Mountain Laurel and this one as well! ❤❤❤ i go to a small Christian college in the Georgia mountains so whenever i walk around the wooded areas of campus, i love to listen your music!
Thanks so much! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the music. 😊 I’d love to hear your thoughts on Wonderscape too-hope it brings you just as much joy! Please stay connected, and thanks for the support! 🎶
When you are a master, the music is masterful. What an amazing and complex arrangement yet is strikingly harmonious (and catchy as all heck!). Thank you for this!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the arrangement and found it catchy and harmonious. It means a lot to know that the music resonates with you. Thanks for listening and for your support!
Yes! This just made my whole day! I love the Fall colors. I’m from the Midwest, but I’ve lived in southern Arizona the last eight years. It’s late September and it’s supposed to be 105 today. 🥵I will live vicariously through this video. Thank you so much! ❤
As always, it's nice to get a new video from this exceptional musician. Too many seem to think they need to do a video every week. It is better to have a rare taste of something really special!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm truly glad you enjoy the videos. I put a lot of heart into each one, so it means a lot to know that the quality resonates with you. Thanks for being part of this journey! I’ve also been working on a new album, "Wonderscape," for the past two years, and I'd love for you to check it out. I came across this channel years ago by trying to find out what a dulcimer was after I was introduced to the term from Dungeons & Dragons. After listening to the original version of this song, I fell in love and had to buy it off of Bandcamp. I've been listening to that track constantly over the years, and seeing this version was absolutely delightful. Just pre-ordered Wonderscape, thanks for the beautiful music!
Thank you so much for sharing your story! It’s amazing to hear how D&D led you to discover the dulcimer and my music. I'm honored that the original track has been part of your journey all these years, and I’m so glad you enjoyed this new version as well. Your support means the world to me, and I can't wait for you to hear "Wonderscape"! Thank you for pre-ordering and for being a part of this musical adventure!
Thank you so much! It’s truly encouraging to hear that from such a talented composer and orchestrator. It’s a joy to share the hammered dulcimer and introduce more people to its unique sound. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the performance, and I truly appreciate your support and thoughtful feedback. It means a lot!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m truly grateful for your support and encouragement. I'm excited to share more music with you soon! I wanted to let you know that my new album, Wondercape, is set to release on October 11. It features 47 minutes of original music, and you can find more details here: joshuamessick.com/product/wonderscape/
I've listened to this probably 30 times already. Doesn't get old. Absolutely mesmerizing harmonies, and great dynamics. I love the finger picked chords!
Wow, that was a long time ago! Thank you for staying in touch. When you're ready to get a dulcimer, I'd love to help. Please contact me at JoshuaMessick.com. I appreciate you!
I've loved the studio work for several years. Hearing you perform it solo amidst the fall aspens of Colorado is very VERY sweet, indeed. Best Wishes from N California, Joshua!
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more-this part of the country is truly breathtaking. It’s great to connect with a neighbor from Utah! We’re definitely blessed to be surrounded by such natural beauty.
Always a pleasure to hear your music, great job! The Hammered Dulcimer is such an underrated instrument. One I'd love to learn, One I often attribute my characters in D&D playing during any downtime~ Setting in the woods is always an amazing bonus~
Congratulations to your new CD, Joshua! This is so fantastic! Amazing how you developed Woodland Dance! It is even more emotional and with depth than before. (Although, of course, I like the previous version, too.) You are really a master of hammering and playing techniques. I am much looking forward to the new CD which certainly will alsol be a great Christmas present.
Hey there! Thank you so much! I'm super excited to share the new album with you. It's always awesome to hear from you; your support means the world to me!

How many hours would you say it would take to get a quarter as good as this? I would love to start learning to play, but i have a lot of doubt that i could even get a quarter as good as this.
Learning any instrument takes time, but getting started is the most important step! The hammered dulcimer, especially at a beginner level, is quite approachable. With consistent practice-even just a few hours each week-you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can make progress. Focus on enjoying the journey and discovering your own unique style along the way. If you’re passionate, every hour you invest will feel incredibly rewarding!

We live in Colorado Springs now, so we haven't had any issues. I'm praying for those affected by the hurricane.
Everyone really knows the answer to does a bear poo in the woods, but the real unanswered question is do they clap for a musician who is outstanding in his field?
Yes
@@JoshuaMessick Excellent, just don't say yes to dinner with them. LOL!
I was hoping a bear chase would ensue around the 2:15 mark.

Very nice but needs more cowbell.
Would a bear bell work as a substitute?
@@JoshuaMessick nah. It needs to be a cowbell but you might be accounted with the joke though.
