- On December 20, 2015 after having completed several test flights in the Spirit of St. Louis, pilot Ken Cassens sat for an interview with longtime Aerodrome announcer Jim Hare. Ken discusses the 20 year build of Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome's replica of Charles Lindbergh's Transatlantic flyer. Volunteers Tom Polapink and Stew Sommerville sit in on the discussion. Video contains much footage of the December 2015 test flights. (v 7)
Coles spirit lives on,his legacy and his whole life are in that aeroplane,a superb replica.
There is nothing on earth like the smell and the music of an old radial engine.
I visit the Aerodrome every October, for the past 4 years, And I just got to see this lovely plane fly this past weekend. Sounded amazing. I absolutely love every visit I get to Rhinebeck, and every ride in that good old New Standard D-25. Keep up the good work guys, i'd love to volunteer there.
Superb job,Cole is proud of you all.
Such a beautiful airplane!
Man, that old Cyclone sounds great!
Went for a ride in the 29 standard in the early 90's,a great experiance.Rhinebeck is ,besides oshkosh ,a place every aviation enthuseist should visit once in their liftime.Real airplanes have propellers, something you can never change
