Many years ago We were forturnte to visit with the family. WE had a great time and are pleased that they are keeping the tradition alive and well. Keep it up guys!! Thank you for doing this!! JP
I took an old timer down there and we went up in the '29 Open Cockpit New Standard and watched the show while he explained to me HOW the planes operated.
That doesn’t work in real life. This is a very difficult field surrounded by trees. My friend Brian Coughlin just died last week right after takeoff in the Fokker D VIII you see in this video. I used to fly with him in the shows in 2028-19. I was the bombardier in the back of the plane dropping bombs on the village below. Low-level flying is extraordinarily dangerous because the planes are usually too low to make it back to the field. The planes are light and high-drag, so they have very poor glide distance if the engine goes out. I used to look out there as I was flying, knowing that if we had an engine-out we would almost certainly be in the trees. I figured if my number was up on any particular day, it was up. RIP to my friend Brian, who was a great pilot and a really great guy.

Wow
Dr. one dosent have wires every wing is cantilever.
These planes ALWAYS REMAIN WITHIN GLIDING DISTANCE OF THE FIELD just in case the engine gives out as they were none too reliable.
