I can't believe you're going this deep into the rabbit hole. This should be good. I think you will really enjoy some of the stuff because you have taken the time to appreciate the artist that he is. When this album dropped I had it on a cassette tape and I was just playing it over and over and over again on my Walkman haha And also I think you should react to the entire Marshall Mathers LP
I think this song is genius. The subject mixed with the tone of voice, it just tells such a vivid story. Morbid and fatherly, gruesome and caring. What a mind he has, a real talent for story telling
Just because you didn't catch the "2 more things out the trunk" - he killed step dadda and little brother too. You hear about it in Kim where he's telling her how he will frame it as a murder suicide. You're so right about the baby talk; I'd never thought about the context outside of the song (during recording); the fact he was writing such a dark song and included the baby talk with Hallie... his mind was in a dark place for sure.
Em saved me as a kid. I used to walk around my neighborhood listening to him for hours. So glad you’re taking this deep dive and appreciating every moment
I love how he tells Hayley to let go of his “toy knife” and the song ends with asking her to help him get 2 more things out of the trunk. One is obviously the knife she was playing with, and the other is unknown
This is the sequel to "Kim", but was actually recorded and released a few years before that (1997). It was on the Slim Shady EP, the demo Dr. Dre heard, and then on the Shady LP.
Also when Stan says "I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you" in the third verse he is referring to what Em tells in this two songs
Been loving your reactions over the last few months my friend, I was massively into Em as a kid but fell away from him in my mid teens when I started expanding my music tastes with people like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon (Both of who also have bars 😂) Only got back into Em heavily in the last year when I turned 27 and came across your channel during one of my many Em binges. Looks like you had a lot of fun reacting to this. Em's imagination and creativity is like no other. Like you always say, "Rembrandt". Cannot wait for the next one...
I was so hoping that you would switch up your schedule to get to this and “Bad Husband” more quickly! Thank you! 😁 And again, props for having the ability to appreciate the art in this. As to the question of if Eminem was singing the “Just the two of us” part, he was. I think that it may have sounded different to you because the melody and the harmony were both on the mid-to-lower end of his range. On most of the tracks where Em sings, he sings the melody higher in his vocal range, and then layers another vocal line a fifth and/or octave lower. (Side note - to hear Proof, check out “When the Music Stops.” His voice was so cool on that track - really dark, menacing, gravelly sounding.) I feel so torn on this song. So, I’m an ICU nurse - that requires having a dark, morbid sense of humor to survive. And I don’t know why, but I’m always up for watching serial killer documentaries. 🤷♀️😂 Despite that, I have a really hard time listening to “Kim.” I think because the tone was so serious, and I can’t imagine being her and hearing that song. So, I want to not like this song, because it is the sequel to the one song in Em’s catalogue that I have a hard time stomaching. But, the tone here is so radically different. It is clearly dark comedy, and frankly, the baby talk to Hailie (and Hailie’s cooing) is adorable. 😂
If you want to hear this song in a more chilling way try out Tori Amos' cover of it. My lady loves Tori and I've never been a fan of her... unique... style. Many aren't story tellers and it's a lot of regurgitating about the same things over and over. Em definitely gives us a variety of personas and content. There's something for everyone. :) Em said back in the early 00s, that he wanted to make sure his music is different, that nothing was the same and that his career would have longevity because of it. And... his plan worked. We never know what's going to come at us next and we're always patiently waiting for the next work of art lol.

I followed em from the very beginning and I must say... I don't know what is more entertaining, Em or watching you react to him. 😂 I think it is amazing that you appreciate the artistry and humor no matter how dark, offensive or indifferent.
Hey Larry. Love your channel. In case you don't already know: - "Bonnie & Clyde" was in "Slim Shady LP" (SSLP) album which came out in 1999. - "Kim" was in "Marshall Mathers LP" (MMLP) album which came out late in 2000. So Kim is a prequel which came out later. - "Stan" also was in MMLP and released as the third single off that album. So Stan imitating Eminem in the song was based on "Bonnie & Clyde" (obviously because Kim wasn't released yet). There are a lot of other references in "Stan" to other Eminem songs which is why I suggest you listen to it once again after you fully listened to SSLP and probably MMLP (just to make sure you don't miss anything).
Another Eminem song you'll like and find interesting is "Yellow Brick Road" When Em was 16 him and Kim broke up and he started dating a black girl, she two-timed Em, he recorded a song that got leaked years later that people called racist and misogynistic, targeting black women. Yellow Brick Road is him making a public comment about it an explaining himself through a song. You'll also like "Say Goodbye Hollywood" the song was written about Eminem needing to get out of public view, leave California, go back home after his legal issues from confronting a guy that was with Kim at a Club. The guy claimed he was pistol whipped and Em was charged with serious felonies, he felt the pressure of being a celebrity and needed to escape his life he felt trapped in.
Fun fact the 2 things hailey helped him lift out the trunk were the "step dada" and "step bwofer" also love the little bars you dropped you're getting influenced 😂
I always say the only song I wish I was in the studio for while being mad is Kim like I be imagining the faces of everyone on the studio after Em said all that 😂😂😂
You have to know that "97 Bonnie & Clyde" song released in 1997 on the Slim Shady EP album and "Kim" released in year 2000 on The Marshall Mathers LP. So he first made a song about the aftermath of the tragedy and then about the tragedy itself.
Eminem has always put emotion and serious parts of himself into his songs. Of course most people were laughing and that's what he intended, but that doesn't change the fact that he also meant a lot of what he said in these kind of songs.
I like you:) New subscriber! Long time Em fan from the beginning. Used to play every album when it dropped on repeat to make sure to catch every genius glorious bar. Now can't get enough of watching people 'get' it for the first time
I recommend you check out the song Love You More before you do Bad Husband, I feel like it's the most grounded look at how bad things were between Em and Kim and it is often overlooked in his catalogue.
100% agree. Love You More is one of the last songs truly dedicated to Kim before the last chapter with Bad Husband. And unfortunately this was a Bonus track on an album so its often overlooked. Top 10 song for me. ruclips.net/video/uzTqU2BVf10/видео.html
1 thing to remember Eminem wrote this song at a time when Kim's parents wouldn't allow him to see Hailey. So he wrote about his anger over that situation. Eminem has always said it's better to put his anger into a song than to let it build up and explode and become real. I think the 2 things pulled out of the trunk in the end are the stepfather and son.
I believe each time he says three he pronounces it as "free". Like telling himself something else is getting freed (relationships, custodies, etc) with each action. And yes, that is a older photo of Em and Halie you used.
Another Great reaction, THANKS😉 its funny this album came out when i was 18 now im 41 and still love the album. Epic. Greetings from the netherlands!!!!!!
Best reaction ever! This was great. I'm a huge Em fan, but I never realised that this song follows on from Kim...seems so obvious now I think about it.
Stan refers to this song when he tells Em 'If I have a daughter, guess what I’ma call her? I’ma name her Bonnie.' Em was much more playful with his story telling back in the early days. His focus as he's matured seems to be on clever word play which is cool if you like trying to catch the meanings behind a lot of his stuff. For me I preferred the silly and more relatable stories that he would tell. Definitely Rock Bottom, If I had and As The World Turns should be on your list. Im buzzing that you've made it to The Slim Shady LP though 🤙👌
I'm so glad you got it. I was worried you wouldn't like the dark humour. The kid gloves will start to come off now with recommendations. Although I think there are only 2 songs that get darker than these. (or just as dark but in a different way) Insane and Stay Wide Awake. I would still recommend staying away from FACK... for now.
97 Bonnie and Clyde actually came out before Kim and Kim is the Prequel :) Btw the person singing "just the two of us" is still Em lol Also the two other things in the trunk are the "step dada" and "new brother" which he describes killing in Kim
talking at the end there about the "papa bear" oh you're so right! maybe somewhere along the line you'll want to check out some diss songs he wrote to rappers who mentioned Hailie, that would be interesting:)) if you got through Kim, you can get through everything! just let us know and we'll be more than happy to point you to some of them.
Kim came out AFTER 97 Bonnie and Clyde, but they were written at the same time. He worked on both for the Slim Shady LP but didn't finish recording Kim in time. He later mentioned in an interview that he should have finished it for that album
The other two things out of the trunk are the stepdad and stepson. I love this song, so dark but so hilarious. He has always said he writes his music like movie scripts, if movies can show these dark things in life, his music can too
Lol I felt weird about you reacting to this and Kim, but hopefully you can genuinely see the artistry, the emotion, the morbid humor, and look at these songs no differently than you would a director that makes a horror film. The juxtaposition is great.
A few Eminem recommendations: Not sure if the links will work in a comment. Yellow Brick Road, 2004: The song goes more into his rap beginnings. Early friendship with Proof and relationship with Kim. (For context, a part of the song talks about a different girlfriend who had broken up with him and it made him so upset he made a song about her called Foolish Pride.) - ruclips.net/video/Qht8_OdNyks/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic Say Goodbye Hollywood, 2002: One of my favorite Eminem songs. He talks about how his overwhelming success started to ruin his relationships and how he wanted to get away from it all to focus on being a normal person and a better father. (For context, in the first part of the song he is referencing him seeing Kim with another guy (a bouncer) at a club and how he ran up and pistol whipped the guy and was charged for it.) ruclips.net/video/PKvqIFTCVYw/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic 25 to Life, 2010: This one is about his controlling and toxic relationship and how he is breaking out of it and becoming independent and standing on his own (This isn't super story heavy but gives good context into his life when he was at the height of his career, this one will require two listens to fully understand) ruclips.net/video/Ngng8UyyaGQ/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic
Yes and the line in stan when hes talking about this is "Thats my girlfriend in the trunk, but i didnt slit her throat, i just tied her up, see i aint like you" ITs a direct reference to the fact that Stan had listened to Kim. Much love bro, cant wait for bad husband. oh and the "Two more thing out the trunk" at the end is the stepdada n new bruvva haha
It shouldn't be but the funny thing is Kim is actually on my gym playlist and haha it actually gets me pumped 🤣 anyone else? Can't wait till he can tell the difference between who's rapping when listening and can tell if it's.. Eminem lyrical or Slim Shady shock factor /dark stuff or Marshall Mathers is the more emotional/hype type songs
Awesome back to back reactions, and yes that is hailey on the cover of the album. I love the slim shady era, but if if you want to hear another more serious sentimental Eminem song then listen to “You’re never over” By Eminem.. it is basically a love letter to Proof after he died
“STRONGER THAN I WAS” BY EMINEM SHOULD BE PART OF THIS GROUP OF VIDEOS. ITS A SONG ABOUT THIER RELATIONSHIP AND HE WROT IT FROM HER POINT OF VIEW SPEAKING AS HER. IT ALSO CAME OUT BEFORE BAD HUSBAND.
I think the cool part is that Bonnie and Clyde came out in 1999 and Kim came out in 2000, proves em's imagination is wild, Bad Husband was actually sort of recent (I think 2017)
As i said before, he wrote this way before ‘Kim’. ‘Kim’ was written years later as a prequel to this. It shows his genius that he wrote ‘Kim’ to work around this as a sequel x
They got married again after all of this and he still says he will do anything for Kim, because she gave him, his daughter. I think this is a brilliant way of an artist taking out frustrations with their craft ❤️
Fun Fact: Eminem told Kim that He’s gonna take Hailey to Chuck-E-Cheese but secretly took her to the rap studio to record this song.😂

Another Great reaction, THANKS😉 its funny this album came out when i was 18 now im 41 and still love the album. Epic. Greetings from the netherlands!!!!!!
Wooo! Love that you did this one. I’d highly recommend anything from this album. It’s epic.
Loved the video as always ❤️❤️❤️
Keep em coming!!
Thanks so much!
Relatable 🤨
It's so bad, but it's so GOOD. Loving your reactions.
CAN WE ALL GET HIM TO LISTEN TO "EMINEM -- FACK" 😂😂😂
That’s one of very last let’s keep him enjoying before we go to that type of songs lmfao
So happy you fit this in to get out quick! Loved this song used to sing the chorus all the time. Bad husband is great to so ready for it!
He has this unique ability to be incredibly playful lyrically while talking about seriously dark content.
I'm so glad you got it. I was worried you wouldn't like the dark humour.
The kid gloves will start to come off now with recommendations.
Although I think there are only 2 songs that get darker than these. (or just as dark but in a different way)
Insane and Stay Wide Awake.
I would still recommend staying away from FACK... for now.
97 Bonnie and Clyde actually came out before Kim and Kim is the Prequel :)
Btw the person singing "just the two of us" is still Em lol
Also the two other things in the trunk are the "step dada" and "new brother" which he describes killing in Kim
Ughhh why do I have to be at work right now:))) i can't wait to get home and watch this!❤️
Man I can’t remember if you’ve done rock bottom by Eminem but that’s a great one.
Em’s storytelling is spectacular.
Slim Shady will always be my favorite album
In this song when ‘em says “help dad with two more things out the trunk” he’s referring two the Step dad and step brother who will have the same fate
talking at the end there about the "papa bear" oh you're so right! maybe somewhere along the line you'll want to check out some diss songs he wrote to rappers who mentioned Hailie, that would be interesting:)) if you got through Kim, you can get through everything! just let us know and we'll be more than happy to point you to some of them.
Just got off work. This is perfect timing, can't wait to hear this.
Enjoy! I sure did!
@@larryshair I did... You was rolling... It was funny
Kim came out AFTER 97 Bonnie and Clyde, but they were written at the same time. He worked on both for the Slim Shady LP but didn't finish recording Kim in time. He later mentioned in an interview that he should have finished it for that album
Lyrical genius!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this the way that I do, thank goodness you know not to take this seriously
Fantastic as always. Thank you for rushing this and bad husband through.
A few Eminem recommendations:
Not sure if the links will work in a comment.
Yellow Brick Road, 2004: The song goes more into his rap beginnings. Early friendship with Proof and relationship with Kim. (For context, a part of the song talks about a different girlfriend who had broken up with him and it made him so upset he made a song about her called Foolish Pride.) - ruclips.net/video/Qht8_OdNyks/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic
Say Goodbye Hollywood, 2002: One of my favorite Eminem songs. He talks about how his overwhelming success started to ruin his relationships and how he wanted to get away from it all to focus on being a normal person and a better father. (For context, in the first part of the song he is referencing him seeing Kim with another guy (a bouncer) at a club and how he ran up and pistol whipped the guy and was charged for it.) ruclips.net/video/PKvqIFTCVYw/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic
25 to Life, 2010: This one is about his controlling and toxic relationship and how he is breaking out of it and becoming independent and standing on his own (This isn't super story heavy but gives good context into his life when he was at the height of his career, this one will require two listens to fully understand) ruclips.net/video/Ngng8UyyaGQ/видео.html&ab_channel=Eminem-Topic
I’ve always wondered what the two other things were they were getting out of the trunk. I was thinking the new step dada and the new bravah
The other 2 "things" in the trunk were the step-dada and the new brotha LoL
Awesome back to back reactions, and yes that is hailey on the cover of the album.
I love the slim shady era, but if if you want to hear another more serious sentimental Eminem song then listen to “You’re never over”
By Eminem.. it is basically a love letter to Proof after he died
the dichotomy is AMAZEBAWLS!
what's up Stan? lol great reaction again, thanks for the content. see ya next upload!
It was Eminem's voice on the chorus. Somehow Eminem's voice keeps changing every year and he sounds different on each album.
“STRONGER THAN I WAS” BY EMINEM SHOULD BE PART OF THIS GROUP OF VIDEOS. ITS A SONG ABOUT THIER RELATIONSHIP AND HE WROT IT FROM HER POINT OF VIEW SPEAKING AS HER. IT ALSO CAME OUT BEFORE BAD HUSBAND.
dont think its about her... cause he says about a 2 year anniversary
rock bottom by eminem is a good one
Btw Haley jade is just his one daughter not the names of two. Alaina is the one he adopted from kims sister
No more moma, no more step dad, no more new brother.
When he says to help two things out of the trunk he’s talking about the step dad and brother he killed
The Way I am might be my fav Eminem song
For sure a reaction must be done for that one..
You better pray after thus reaction !! 🤣🤣
For you info... Bonnie and Clyde came out before Kim... So when Em did Kim he wrote it as the prequel on a later album
'two more thing out the trunk' - the stepdad and his son ofcourse
2 other things in a trunk were a step dada and the new brotha...
The two things he got out of the trunk are the new husband & stepson
I love it when you spit a bar and approve it by saying „bar“
lol, thanks!
