  • ARRI TRINITY on a BUDGET! Glide Gear G2G 505
    This is the G2G 505 by Glide Gear. It is a body rig with the control arm and mechanical gimbal for your motorized gimbal set up. This tool can help you handle the total load of your camera gear for longer durations without pain. The vest set up spreads the weight across the body evenly and also helps reduce the Z-Axis bounce.

    Thanks for making this. I have been on the fence between a few rigs. Proaim has some great videos for product uses, but last year when I went to the Glide Gear site the only videos they had were a quick 20 sec demo outside and another walking around a messy warehouse. My thoughts were if you are going to make film gear, at least make some good film gear videos to show off the products like the other companies out there. So thanks for making this! Now I know that Glide Gear isn't just a hobby and their real business is selling moonshine out the backdoor, their stuff really works. They are back on my list!

    Great breakdown of everything, thanks for making this video! After watching the comparisons though, it kind of makes me think the catalyst browse stabilization mixed with a decent gimbal, would just be the easiest way to go for most. Would probably be just as stable as a budget arri trinity, and more accessible to achieve for most people. (obviously would still have the lower back problem with no vest). But would've loved to see the a7siii on a gimbal as a final comparison!

    Really good video, very much appreciated. I ended up buying the glide gear kit over the past two days. I have the Ronin SC/Sony FX3/PicoGear Mic and hope I get similar results. Now I need to get myself an external monitor!

      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  3 года назад +2

      what are your initial thoughts of the glide gear?

    • @JayWeldy
      @JayWeldy 3 года назад +1

      @@JasonMorrisphotocinema I'm 142 lb's, with a 31" waist and I think I have the vest and arm pretty well set for my frame. Unfortunately I don't have the stabilizer arm delivered yet so I don't know how that will interact. Initially, the vest shoulders seem to slide when the arms are fully extended left/right and I immediately learned I have to depend on body posture to compensate. That's without a camera or stabilizer attached. I'm thinking I may need to rig something up higher to pull those parts in more securely. WhenI get the rest of the kit I'll have a better idea because I can't correctly balance anything yet. Again, I really appreciate the video's you all did on this unit. Final note: It's a much better built and sturdy unit than I thought it would be for the price.

    • @RighteousFollwer
      @RighteousFollwer 3 года назад +1

      @@JayWeldy Do you mind giving an update on how the rig is working for you? I have a smaller frame similar to yourself, so I’m interested in knowing. Thank you

    • @JayWeldy
      @JayWeldy 3 года назад

      @@RighteousFollwer I've spent a lot of frustrating time and have shelved the project for the time being. I bought a SteadiCam Solo to use with the vest/arm, but my problem is that I'm not a good rigger and half my stuff is moving around on me like batteries and monitor, throwing the rig out of balance. So, basically making it useless for me. When I can keep everything in place, it's great and gives an unreal "movie shot" experience. Not only am I a small frame, I'm 60 years old and the longest I've shot with it on is 20 minutes. Hope this helps.

    That thing seems quite awkward. I dont get those two rods on each side of the post. You guys must have bumped your arm into that constantly. They should not be there.
    But im always interested in seeing new vest gimbal designs ever since I started to build my own 3 years ago..
    Must admit. Ive seen all the variants of minity/gimbal-steadicam hybrids, but the new Tilta Float looks like the only contender for me to even consider. Its just looks so compact and well built.

    Question!! I'm about to buy the g2g 1000 but on every site both the 500 and 1000 say the weight capacity is 10lbs... I know the Crane 3s paired with my Ursa is 15 or so lbs and the set up is this vid is probably over 10lbs too. Like I'm confused lol. Does it only depend on the arm being used?

    I mean ZERO offence. But this is a super sketchy build, I highly recommend people do not follow how you mounted the gimbal. You need to take the handle off and use the Tilta power supply base plate to mount that securely. One screw is so super sketch I can’t believe you’re sharing that. The rest is cool and creative. But yeah. Bud. Please buy that adapter and use it for a more secure mount before you lose your camera and gimbal. Because it will come off down the road. 😬
