For a new variant of this Critical Build that works just fine with the Shadow of Erdtree DLC, AND also has Facetanking, please check: ruclips.net/video/lFlqX-jqOYc/видео.html
Thank you so much! Might I also suggest my Faith Caster Build? It can be very versatile too with spellcasting tools for all sorts of different enemies/bosses, tanking & also melee potential: ruclips.net/video/O3gQjpStCQ8/видео.html
Flame of the Redmanes has been nerfed to the ground with patch 1.08. So this doesnt work anymore. But nice detailed video tho. The Dark Moon Greatsword might be something to look in. Its heavy attacks with the sword active has an equal effect.
I don't know if I'm in hell or paradise, I already beat the game a few times, and made a few more characters for different playstyles (1 specifically for invasions)...but I keep coming across builds like this that make me want to roll a brand new character again! Will Elden Ring never end? I guess I could always respec my claw build to this, but most bosses are already dead, and half the fun is building the character through early and mid game.
I think one of the best parts about Elden Ring is that you can actually make all sorts of different builds with different playstyles and have fun! Really gives you the itch to start the game again too with a new character. It's not really as many would say that only DEX/INT is viable, that's plain wrong in my opinion!
Thank you so much! I have to say this one took a decent amount of time to make due to all the different enemy footage and such, so I'm really happy to see it's being useful.
Before getting the Misericorde, I recommend using the *standard RAPIER which has a Crit multiplier of 130* (2nd highest in game) and can be bought immediately upon your first visit to the round table hold from the twin maiden husks.
Same! Guard Counters will stagger most enemies then the extra reach really helps and conserves FP until you get the Talisman. I copied the AoW to put on both and swap to MC for bosses. Once I get Royal Knight's Resolve AOW I'll try putting it on MC and swapping to use it on the big enemies.
@@nuckinfutzsf822 i didnt use guard counters in my current playthrough but i learned how powerful they can be earlier so i'll definitely use them more. Just a sidenote, i really fell in love with thrusting weapons. My current character has two estocs with cold affinity and its wonderful. Ofcourse i switch to magic a lot which i want to minimize in the future
Just so you know golden parry and carian retaliation speed up the parry so a medium shield will be just as fast as the buckler, but have better guard stats.
That is interesting, I was under the impression you had to have them on Small Shields to retain the faster parry window, not necessarily the Buckler as there's other Small Shields.
@@cRPGBro ye, I literally saw a video an hour so before this one where they went through all parry types on gear, then ashes on all gear it could fit, golden parry and carian retalliation according to his vid showed the same start up speed as bucket parry regardless of shield it was on, it also had a slightly larger I frames too meaning it technically better than buckler parry but it costs fp. Edit: This vid if I can link ruclips.net/video/qOEcWX6cWeo/видео.html
Dude I just made a weaker version of this build since I'm missing a couple vital items (like the dagger talisman) and I annihilated the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast with it! This build is awesome!!!
It’s a great video and I’m definitely going to try this build. I feel like most people who make Elden ring builds are focusing on PvP, so it’s really a blessing, that your making good PvE builds.
Thank you! It's really a very fun build for both normal exploration and bosses too. I also prefer to focus more on the PvE side of things, just a personal preference.
Finally a sneaky assassin guide, i was getting tired of the "Absolutely OP spells in the game" type of videos (when you have to basically spend 2min buffing yourself before attacking). This build is simple and ready to go!
Glad you liked the Build, man! It's fun indeed in that you don't need as many buffs and there's a certain simplicity to it while still being every effective.
@@cRPGBro The simple builds are the best builds. Watch as your opponent spends five minutes casting so many spells, it looks like the end of the world and laugh as you close in and just stab them with a pointy piece of metal.
@@cRPGBro Oh also, the incantation, “Darkness”, fits this build like a glove. Haven’t used darkness in PvP but in PvE it stops the enemy from attacking and you can get a free backstab in. Same thing with “white shadow” actually. It says it only works on human enemies not in combat but it seems to affect them even while in combat. It really takes the heat off of you for a moment of reprieve so you can heal if needed. I love the weird niche spells and incants in this game. They’re so unique.
Note for any int based builds out there, glintblade phalanx can be used in place of redmane (a bit slower but more range and same stagger) and you can use int scaling for it. Also if you don't like the dagger, you can use rapier (10 less crit) bought from roundtable hold for 1000 runes.
Played around with both my self and I kinda prefer Glintblade Phalanx! Plus, you can make the weapon Cold for added frost and (mostly) Dex scaling, which my character uses better than Str or Int. Tested on Greydoll dragon and giants. 2 shots of Redmane or this will drop them. My only caveat is that Glintblade relies on all 4 projectiles connecting as well, which doesn’t always happen.
One important change i'd make: put flames of the redmane on a secondary weapon and royal knight's resolve on the misericorde. Getting an additional 80% damage seems pretty good
It can certainly work! I personally just prefer not having to swap due to the micromanagement, but it will contribute a lot to damage indeed. Careful of some enemies like Malenia that have extremely fast recovery after being stance broken/parried, though.
@@cRPGBro Yeah I second this. While yes in theory it does massively increase your damage. Most bosses arent gonna give you the opportunity to weapon swap and buff
@@felixhustede285 .... true. But thats not what this is about. You have your flame of the redmane skill on the weapon in your first righthand weapon slot and misericorde with royal knights resolve in your second right hand slot(not your offhand).
This is definitely the best video I’ve seen to build a great balanced character. So we’ll explained. All locations and tips included. Thank you so much!
Thank you! That is really nice to know. I suppose it won't indeed matter as much especially for C Scaling, but I found the damage to be good enough as we can hit 800 + AR with a Dagger. There's always the option to go Faith or INT and get weapon buffs instead and Quality Upgrade or so.
@@cRPGBro hey man have done some testing using Executioner Axe with Heavy Affinity and pure Str scaling? I think it's feasible, but I haven't done some testing since I'm currently playing a diff build. Mind showing us some numbers? Basically, it's a very high base damage weapon with 115% crit and high weapon rank scaling vs Misericorde with low base damage and 140% crit.
@@ayemjake I tested every weapon. The weapon style itself has a big affect on how they crit. Executioner SHOULD with its stats and higher crit be ridiculous, but great axes are not great in general at crits. Misericorde and plain dagger were the highest with fire affinity. Of non daggers the rapier was close behind followed by nightrider glaive and glaive. Next was Lordsworn greatsword. This is all at +24/+9 testing.
@@TheAncientBarbarian mind showing some numbers, I'd like to see how big of a difference it makes. I honestly like misericorde but the short range it provides slightly turns me off a bit.
For Strenght/Arcane builds you can also use the Lordsworn's Greatsword (110 crit) or Execution's Greataxe (115 crit). They have higher damage scaling and can perform as much and sometimes even more damage because they bypass certain armor types. E.g. Misericorde is Slash/Pierce while the Greataxe is Standard damage. But requires 34 strength.
Yeah, I was surprised by how high the Lordsworn Crit Boost is, same as normal daggers except it is a sword! It can make for a decent alternative if you just want to go all out on STR indeed.
If you are having trouble with the skeletons that are tied to a sorcerer, you can craft holy pots and they will stay down regardless if the sorcerer is still alive. I think you can also use holy incantations to the same affect too but I build that doesn't rely on spells and stuff.
That is really nice to know! Thankfully that Torch Bearer enemy usually falls down fast in one hit, hardest part is getting to him past all the skellies.
Decided to start fresh with this build in mind. I absolutely love your guide and I have had zero issues on this play through. You definitely deserve many more subscribers. Salud
Thank you so much! Really glad the build is working great for you, I'm rather fond of how early you can get it running, at the very start of the game even.
@@cRPGBro it really allowed me to confidently explore and enjoy the game. I was up and running with the two leech talismans within an hour and a half of gameplay.
188 hours in, on fourth attempt to finish Radagon/Elden Beast. Aside from just one or two bosses this build made the game amazingly easy and fun all the way through.
I did the same thing on a pure INT build Astrolooger. I have 2 short swords. One has Glintblade Phalanx and the other has Square Off. On normal enemies, one hit from either AoW is enough to stun enemies for a crit. But when the Square Off thrust hits with the 4 Glintblades simultaneously, it stuns bosses. Then I just equipp cerulean and crimson dagger talismans to keep regenerating hp and fp with each crit.
Legit tried this build on the last half of the game. I did swap str for faith and used flame art instead of fire. Took a bit to get used to it, but it indeed wrecks a LOT of bosses and near all regular mobs. Outstanding build! I've subbed and you helped me get platinum!
What do you mean by flame art instead of fire? I played through the early game with a pure stance break FOTR build but just switched to a faith/str build to mix things up and to use blasphemous blade, but I still find myself keeping a dagger with FOTR in my offhand to stance break. Nothing feels worse than whiffing takers flame over and over on a mobile boss lol.
Awesome guide thanks! I wanted to do a parrying character and this is perfect. You are covering both my current favorite games and doing a great job of it.
Thanks you, friend! Parry can take some time getting used to due to all the different enemy attack windows, but that's what the Golden Parry is for. Also the HP + FP on Critical effects makes it a lot easier too, letting you make mistakes while learning Parry and still survive just fine!
great build, I've been playing this a ton for the last week of so and it's one of my favorites. (definitely the best early game build) Some lategame additions: 1. After beating Rykard; off-handing Blasphemous Blade against normal enemies as it restores HP and gives you great sustain. 2. Scaling into Blasphemous Blade + Golden Order Greatsword/Sword of Milos with Miséricorde in the Main Hand secondary. Sword of Milos restores FP and the powerstanced greatswords will give you an additional option.
You definitely can! I talk about it at 07:47 But you have to remember it will overwrite Flame Grant Me Strength, the Elemental/Magic Negation Buffs and also Boiled Crab/Prawn.
@@cRPGBro Working my way through volcano manor right now. Build is great, though i switched to Nightrider Halberd instead of the dagger. Didn't like *needing* crits and the crit damage is comparable to misericorde
An important notes to add about parry: 1. Buckler has the special AoW skill “buckler parry” which has the best parry window of all shields (by a lot), making it the best for practicing parries. And also making it a poor choice to apply other AoWs on top of it. Do not place golden parry on a buckler, like, ever. 2. To parry successfully, you should look at your opponent arm instead of weapon: when arm starts to move towards you - it’s the time to parry. You also need to be reasonably close to enemy for parry to work (except for a golden parry obviously)- the actual length of the weapon doesn’t really matter.
Graduated from making killer WoTR builds to killer Elden ring builds. Really happy for the views you are getting! Please do continue with Elden ring as long as you are enjoying, and hopefully later down the lane some more WoTR? As for me i finished the game with a total try-hard build as a starter samurai and my trusted uchi. At SL40. Kept getting crushed throughout, but was a great learning experience. Will try this build out soon.
Hey there, and thanks for watching my videos for so long, ever since the Pathfinder days 😁 I plan on returning to Pathfinder for the content I have yet to do, like Aeon, Swarm Devil & Legend Guides!
I would add Quickstep AoW is also excellent for getting backstabs. If you lock onto an enemy and aim a quickstep forward and to the side of them your character will actually circle around them, instead of just doing a straight line, like bloodhound step. This is mostly good for human sized fast enemies.
Man, I pride myself on building unique, powerful and fun builds to break the game with. I just picked this up and...I am amazed. It literally puts the game on easy mode without summons. Def subscribing.
Flame of the Redmanes is seriously great! I paired it with Ice Spear for a fun fire/ice build with dual twinblades. Ice Spear does good poise damage (not quite as much as Flame) and you get the Frostbite % damage and status, which you can reset with a fire attack. The downside to Ice Spear is that you can only put in on a few weapons (thrusting polearms and twinblades) and you have to kill a Night's Cavalry in Liurnia, which might be annoying on a new character.
Yep, Flame of the Redmanes is indeed amazing, combining great damage, piercing AoE, decent cast speed and of course, extreme Poise damage! It's nice knowing about Ice Spear too, I had used it before on my Shield + Spear Build. Frostbite is an amazing status effect.
This video got you a new subscriber, great descriptions, timestamps and a clear, calm voice! Keep up the good work, this is one of the best buildguides I've seen!
Thank you so much for the support & the kind words! It's always nice hearing positive feedback like this and that my guide has been useful, certainly makes the effort into making it all worth it!
Thanks for the build! A quick note: wth the iron whetblade you should be able to keep the redmane ash of war whilst choosing your preferred stat scaling.
Glad you liked the build! There are indeed different ways of going when it comes to the Misericorde Weapon Path Upgrade, you can go Faith & INT too or DEX for Lightning or Magic scaling instead of Fire.
If you go dex/faith with a lightning buff, I believe that the Misericorde gets outclassed on crits by the rapier at +20. To max out crits, I'd go keen rapier with royal knight's resolve, electrify armament (which has a solid duration), and off hand a weapon with flame of the redmanes (maybe Misericorde for fashion since it looks nice with a rapier in your main hand).
Yeah, your Misericorde will get better scaling with Keen Affinity. Split damage is generally worse despite the larger number because your attacks getting filtered through multiple resistances, so the only time the Fire is better is if you're fighting an enemy who's weak to Fire.
@@akajesusx I found the Rapier, but how to make it keen? please Edit: in the eldenring wiki fextralife /Rapier thread, someone said "Rapier bugged with scholarly armament backstabs for way more than anything else with such high crit + scaling damage" what do u think?
I had started out going with a sorcery build, working my way toward the Darkmoon Greatsword. I'd just beaten Godrick when I saw this video. I started over and I haven't looked back, it's been that much fun! Thanks for the biuld!
Glad it was helpful! It's really a very fun build with how easy it is to get the Critical Hits flowing!

@@cRPGBro got all the components. killing bosses 1st try. some more surprising bosses - or bosses with new and interesting move sets... take maybe 3 or 4 attempts. had to get to the stage where i could respec to strength, cos I was running a dex dual dagger bleed set... and while the damage output was grand... for bosses I was a super squishy tarnished without the reflexes of a 12yr old on sugar... (although margit did go down 1st time too) which meant i was continually having to react and dodge roll save my ass... now with redmane... i can control the pace of the battle. to get better, try to work in my buckler parry a bit more for more crit - but spamming redmane works the charm too.
You have smaller weapons like daggers triggering the talisman twice on bigger monsters, but you also have colossal weapons triggering twice off smaller monsters (just more monsters in general)
Really glad to hear that, friend 😁 Happy my builds have been useful to you, be sure to have fun with the Critical spamming now! My favorite part is that tasty HP + FP restored on crits, especially on the bigger targets and bosses. Not to mention the OP stunlock Flame of Redmanes skill too.
carian retaliation and golden parry timings stay the same even when you equip it to medium shields, granted you have enough fp. get a 100% physical medium shield like a brass shield to block the faster attacks on a combo then parry the succeeding attacks
I'm enjoying it so far. I noticed earlier for some reason the flame ash isn't poise breaking in multi-player. Was fighting (pain in the ass) malenia with two other players with me. It maybe she was receiving damage from the other players without me being able to tell but other than that it works pretty nice
Yep, it's why I really made it a point to showcase how powerful Flame of the Redmanes can be for Criticals! As you just saw yourself, even the end game bosses can be easily handled by it 😁
Man I want to say thank you for this video. I've been stuck on the black knife Ringleader for days now. Tried all sorts of different builds, techniques, arms, weapons, etc. After this I was able to beat her after my 3rd shot!
@@cRPGBro im defeath both godskin apostate with this build :D first in caelid and then in the plateau, this last one it was very fast because I learn they movents
I've tried this build out since you uploaded that teaser video for it introducing flame of the redmanes. It's a ton of fun! It's probably the strongest build I played since SNAF got nerfed but also doesn't totally trivialize the game (you still need to find sometimes up to 3 openings close to eachother) and that's great. How would you go about fighting enemies that can't be crit with this build? Draconic Tree Sentinel became a bit of a slog for me due to this. I also imagine that Fire Giant will take even longer than usual?
I am not sure about fire giant as I haven't tried it, but even though you cannot crit some enemies, they can be staggered for some free hits. I'd actually like to test the rapier against the Misericorde running a Dex build, keen on both, and either scholar's or electrify armament. I've heard that at +20, the rapier will outpace the Misericorde, so I'd be curious to see.
I have watched several build guides but this is the only one so far i've been intrested in. I can't wait to try it out, thank you! Edit: Takes about 5 hits with the ash of war to knock them for a knight in the overworld.. I'll keep trying tho
It is a very fun and effective build 😀 Enemies have different Stance Break thresholds, but ideally you want to cast Flame of the Redmanes in quick succession, because they recover poise damage with time.
i use that flame of redmane aow on misericode in my 1st playthrough . now i change it to glintblade phalanx aow and use blackflame incantation on my misericode so that the glintblade phalanx (4of them) deals fire and bleed , it can track enemy and have poise damage as high as flames of redmane . im conflicted which is better 🤔
Thank you so much for the nice words! It's neat knowing my narration style is appealing to the viewers as well, I try to do it in a way to better explain things.
Great Build and very detailed explanation! Thanks so much Tried it for a few hours and so far it´s kinda insane ^^ Switching to buckler parry from normal parry makes it feel so much better :D Quick Question: Would it be maybe "better" to go for lightning and keen with dexterety for the build? Since more enemies are weak to that element.. I guess you loose the fire buffs etc tho
The only issue I have with this build is the reliance on flame of the redmanes for poise break. If the last heavy handed patch is a measuring stick, this skill will get nerfed. My advice would be to use a high poise break weapon to break their poise and then swap to the dagger for the crit. Enjoy the build, but be wary of the nerf bat.
Looking at this I really hope it is nerfed tbh, he's breaking stance with 2 hits on Malenia - that's better than a perfect parry which takes 3 - that's absolutely ridiculous for something that requires little to no skill and can be spammed and uses such little FP
Flame of the Redmanes might get nerfed eventually indeed, although it's not really a strong factor in PVP, I think, which tends to be one of their biggest reasons for nerfing stuff. Good thing is we can still use Parry & Backstabs, and as you said, because this build has very high STR anyways, you can also go for high Poise damage through Colossal Swords or Hammers with Jump Attacks!
@@cRPGBro this build make me happy xd, it was very difficult tryng use bleed on katanas wihtout seppuku..... with this poise critical damage and autorefill hp fp the quality of game change a lot!!!! regards
I've been doing this with the Executioner's Greataxe because of it's increased crit and strength scaling. I haven't actually compared it's output to the Misericorde though. lol Rapier has 130 crit, so it's probably a solid option too. Though, Misericorde is probably best.
I've been eyeing of the misericord and the buckler for the past 2 weeks but I couldn't figure out a good way to stagger bosses that aren't parryable. The redmane flame is an amazing solution. TY so much, I'm rolling my new wretch today to try it out.
Great video, I am still on my first playthrough as parry only with similar build and may have some tips. For some reason I got the highest damage for misericorde with dex+lightning infusion. Like it does way more than any if the other infusions despite being same AR on paper. Its been researched before on reddit etc but I did specifically test against a lot of different enemies to check resistances, and lightning with 50 dex always did way more damage than fire and everything else regardless of stat allocation or infusion. Flame still stuns stuff the same regardless of damage buffs, so I went away from the fire buffing completely. I then infused the dagger with the knights resolve Ash that gives a huge buff to your next hit for super crits. I then just had an off hand morning star for strike damage which I put the flame Ash onto, this let me easily stun most big enemies with just 2 or 3 charged strong attacks anyway, but anything that's super obnoxious like dragons or the gargoyles and stuff if I was under levelled I could put my buckler away for easy access to ashes, then just use flame Ash for the knock out, instant switch to dagger, cast resolve, then crit. I went from never parrying anything, to just a few days ago killing godskin duo with parrys only and no summons. But that's because I forced myself to only parry, the flame spell will absolutely wreck everything in the game if you want it to, so I would advise only use it on really unparryable stuff otherwise your missing out on half the fun of the game, but that's up to everyone else! Buckler is also the best parry option, I've seen lots of backwards and forwards for golden parry, but I've tested it extensively bearing in mind I only kill by parrying if it's parryable, so I've essentially parry killed every enemy in the game, and none of the other options where anywhere near as consistent as buckler so especially if learning I would stick with just buckler! 😁
@@codeninja1 50 dex, lightning infusion. For some reason it just counts the damage weirdly, may even be a glitch. I tested all stat spreads between each of the relevant whetstone infusions, against lots of types of resistant enemies. All elements scale the same way with appropriate stats, but lightning just does way more regardless of resistances and nobody knows why, like a good extra 20% or more. Between that and royal knights resolve, I never needed any other buffs, but obviously any spells etc that improve lightning would do even more!
Try exchanging some more healing flasks for mana and replace the blue crit talisman for the dagger talisman which will give your crits a 17% boost. A direct upgrade from buckler parry is to use a medium 100% physical shield and put on the Carian retalliation ash of war. This is because it only uses FP when parrying a spell but keeps the super huge parry window.
Oh damn I thought it was a bug that I was receiving double hp/fp on proc critical. Didn’t realize it was because the enemy type was consider “large” Source: sewer monstrosities I like to parry practice I’ve been using a crit build with a very identical setup. Ritual Sword and crimson dagger work so well with each other and since you’re a Faith build, an HP regen boon or Golden Vow is just icing. Great breakdown of the build and location for skills/items.
Thank you for the comment and glad the build was useful! Yeah, "large" enemies will take 2 hits from Dagger criticals. What's considered as "large" though can mean different things. Usually the big enemies like Dragons, Giants etc. But enemies like Malenia who are just slightly taller than your character also get double Critical!
I got a 6500 damage backstab (not a riposte) yesterday with a Cold Misericorde against a Haligtree knight when testing a Frostbite/Bleed build. I had Golden Vow, the “attack increase in the presence of bleed” passive by using Seppuku with another weapon, and multiple “successive attacks increase attack power” boosts active.
@@vrfitnessandgaming3234 I had the White Mask and the Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman for a total of 30% extra damage after a bleed proc, the Dagger talisman, the Winged Sword Insignia talisman (to be replaced with *Rotted Winged Sword Insignia* in my next NG+ cycle), and the Millicent's Prosthesis talisman equipped. My incantation/item buffs were Golden Vow, _possibly_ Flame, Grant Me Strength (this isn't quite as effective on a Cold weapon as it boosts physical and fire damage but not magic), and a Wondrous Physick flask (extra damage with successive attacks, extra dexterity which should probably be swapped for extra magic damage for a Cold weapon). Starting from the Prayer Room site of grace, I used the Physick flask, activated Golden Vow and maybe also Flame, Grant Me Strength (I don't remember for sure), and used Seppuku with another weapon. I hit the group of enemies immediately in front of the Grace with dual dagger combos to build up my successive attack damage bonus, quickly ran into the next doorway on the left, and backstabbed the knight sitting there with his back turned to the doorway. Keep in mind this is *not* consistent. The group of enemies I used as test dummies can be annoying and the combo damage bonus degrades quickly. That 6500 damage backstab was an outlier. It only happened once. Right now, I'm trying out a fire and ice dual dagger build to see how it stacks up to a Frostbite/Bleed build. Maybe it'll finally give me a reason to stop using that ugly White Mask.
@@mardukx1 It doesn't have to be Fire damage, but due to the way Critical Hits are calculated, split damage results in higher damage, so Physical + Fire/Magic/Lightning.
Would it make sense to give misericorde heavy affinity for better scaling on str or does it do more damage with fire affinity? Also, if you give it fire affinity, would extra points in faith give it more damage?
I would prefer to have Fire because of the split damage which does wonders for increasing Critical damage. Faith will only contribute for more damage if you make it Flame (instead of Fire, it's a different upgrade). What you can do however is make the Misericorde into Quality or so, and then give it split Magic or Lightning Damage through Scholar's Armament for INT or Elecrify Armament spells for Faith. Heavy can also work with Beast Seal + Electrify Armament!
If you're having a problem hitting those invisible scarabs, if you hold heavy attack, you'll drag your weapon along the ground until you release it, and the dragging does deal damage. If it isn't enough to 1 shot the beetle, it will at least be visible and targetable at that point.
Just on a side note, casting the Darkness incantation on an enemy is probably the best way to get backstabs, if that's specifically what you're going for. It can be a little hard to see through the smoke, so wait until it dissipates a bit before attempting a backstab. When the smoke clears, the enemy's eyes will still be clouded for a short duration. Long enough to get a backstab with the 25% damage bonus from them being unaware of your presence. You can immediately cast it again while they're one the ground after a crit, too.
Sounds fun, but the 34 fp cost make it hard (it will be 19 with the talisman). Bloodhound step on the other hand costs 5 fp, so yo get 3 free casts before you go for a backstab. Though you need to get a second dagger for this. I would use darkness for a big packs of enemies.
This is what fromsoft would want, people to experiment and find cool outcomes that they can enjoy with other people cause clearly you worked hard in all of this, in NG+ I am so trying this.
@@cRPGBro yeah the problem is my friend never seems to stop running into the meta... including myself lol. IDK how good this build is for pvp thought but pve hell yes
I do want to point out that critical hits are affected by int! This also includes magic buffs such as the magic shrouding tear or the magic scorpion talisman. Infusing a weapon with magic or cold will also increase the dmg of the critical too.
Yes! strengh build! everyone talking about dex, int , arcane. Unfortunatelly 90% str build is based on big slow weapons but its not my playstyle. I was looking something like that, STR + parry + fast attacks. nuts!
Have fun with the build 😁 I do think it's quite nice to get a big bonus from STR even on fast weapon! Just your Flames of the Redmanes alone will deal crazy high damage, then your small dagger with high STR just seals the deal!
I’m about to start new game plus and I think i’m gonna do a parry build because it seems like a really fun way to play. I missed a cave in limgrave so I fought the dual demi human chiefs with the gank squad of trash mobs, i’m overleveled so I fought them solo and I parried one of the bosses and then one shot him with a critical hit lol. It’s so satisfying, way more satisfying than spamming spells from a distance. High risk high reward playstyle that requires perfect parry timing, at least they gave us one dagger that does high crit damage and didn’t neglect this playstyle. Now I can make use of my daggers that I typically don’t use. Doing OP bleed builds and spells is fine but id rather do something more engaging at this point
Yep, Parry can be somewhat hard to pull off, but gets a lot better with proper training. And it's certainly one of the best feelings you can have in the game when you successfully pull it off for huge Criticals!
I’m honestly surprised that he didn’t mention straight shield counters. I’ve been trying this build for a bit and have found that using a blocking shield can help in some very nice combos. Then again, this build is one that has a lot of experimentation potential.
Shield Guard Counters are great, I cover them on my Shield Builds. The issue is usually they rely on the enemy you block getting staggered by the block, so you can easily get the Counter going. Otherwise for some enemies and most bosses they'll just keep comboing you after you block once.
Had all these items. Thanks for the info made the play easier. Was using sword of st Trina and that dagger. Now I can roam caelid with just that ash of war on 🤙
No problem, and hope you have fun destroying the poor Caelid enemies with your Criticals! It's actually quite funny how the big Dog enemies & the Prawns are Stance Broken with just one casting of Flame of the Redmanes!
@@homesaucemagic did it exactly like he does in this video pretty much, just spam your ability button sometimes it takes more than 2, and dont be afraid to heal and back off for a second if you need to.
@@cRPGBro I was thinking maybe a med shield if ya had anymore weight room for 100 dmg negation since they'd have the same frame data as small shields with the unique parries
15:50 Actually, the game can scale STR specifically to 150. You can level it up to 99, then increase STR by at least 1 and 2-hand your weapon. I haven't tested the numbers myself, but read this tidbit on a wiki.
Thanks again for the guide. One honorable mention I think is you can totally go full faith with the build by making it flame art instead of just fire for the faith scaling. Thanks for the heads up on this art. I had no idea how effective it was till your previous video!
Dos not work, the weapon art is a flame weapon art and will only scale with STR no matter what you do, atleast to my understanding chancing the weapon scaling dos not chance it. Because its a "Projectile" weapon art. Works the same as Hoarfrost Stomp for example that will only scale with dex and int.
You're welcome! I think as far as Pure Faith, it would then be best to go the Electrify Armament weapon buff route to add Lightning scaling to your Misericorde, which you can then make into Quality.
@@nischana4194 I could be wrong but I have a sacrificial axe with flame art and the fire damage is scaling completely with faith. If it’s set to just fire then it goes off dex.
I dont think the poise break you get from the weapon art scales with STR - the damage is not that important. Int, Faith and Arcane are the better scaling methods because you really dont want to invest in STR by holding a dagger right? ^^
Yeah, there are some parrying daggers indeed!] I personally just prefer the Small Shields for a good parry window and also up to 80% Phys damage blocked.
I think it's worth noting the fire damage on flame of redmanes doesn't scale with faith so you can throw this on any build as an option for enemies that are resistant/immune to your primary build.
Glad to help! Daggers can be really fun and also very effective in Elden Ring. I also have a 2x Bleed Dagger Build here: ruclips.net/video/GSGp-S4k30Q/видео.html
i cant wait to make this, i was already thinking of going for a parry build for my new play through but I didn't know how good Flame of the Redmanes is! I think I'm gonna throw in some other fire incantations and go for a pyro build + huge crits!!

Flame of the Redmanes has been nerfed to the ground with patch 1.08. So this doesnt work anymore. But nice detailed video tho. The Dark Moon Greatsword might be something to look in. Its heavy attacks with the sword active has an equal effect.
Flame of the red mane is now gone from when you first pick up the misericorde!! 😢
Just use Glintblade Phalanx
I don't know if I'm in hell or paradise, I already beat the game a few times, and made a few more characters for different playstyles (1 specifically for invasions)...but I keep coming across builds like this that make me want to roll a brand new character again! Will Elden Ring never end? I guess I could always respec my claw build to this, but most bosses are already dead, and half the fun is building the character through early and mid game.
same here
Make invasion builds, a lot of fun trying the content at Lower and lower stats while keeping weapon stats low to not block zones when invading
Fun
I think one of the best parts about Elden Ring is that you can actually make all sorts of different builds with different playstyles and have fun!
Really gives you the itch to start the game again too with a new character.
It's not really as many would say that only DEX/INT is viable, that's plain wrong in my opinion!
@@cRPGBro Agreed, there is so many things someone can do in Elden Ring, huge build diversity.

Why are all your builds so much better then all the other builds on RUclips. Keep up the work, you make this game a lot more fun.

Rapier is indeed a viable choice, it's a very solid weapon overall.
or you can build the entire build on rapier itself! both weapons are great
The basic dagger also has 130 if you prefer daggers
Yup! Carian Retaliation also does not cost FP to parry non-magical attacks, only stamina
Dude I just made a weaker version of this build since I'm missing a couple vital items (like the dagger talisman) and I annihilated the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast with it! This build is awesome!!!
Glad to hear it, bro! 😁
A really fun part of the build is that you can indeed become very powerful even at the start of the game!
No shit, damn I definitely gotta try this, I had alot of issues finding something for the falling star beast
My only caveat is that Glintblade relies on all 4 projectiles connecting as well, which doesn’t always happen.
can you use the spell version of glintblade phalanx? or do you have to use the ash of war to get the poise damage?
clayman harpoon with ice spear ash of war..2-3 cast of ash of war & most enemies stances break
@@Raclex13 spell version has much less poise breaking power. U had to use ash of war.
Royal Knights Resolve has been patched though hasn't it? As far as I know you cannot apply the 80% to your offhand skill anymore.
@@felixhustede285 .... true. But thats not what this is about. You have your flame of the redmane skill on the weapon in your first righthand weapon slot and misericorde with royal knights resolve in your second right hand slot(not your offhand).

Elden ring's strength scaling does not stop at 99, but at 148.5 when two handed. Of course anything after 80 str is minimal.
Thank you! That is really nice to know.
I suppose it won't indeed matter as much especially for C Scaling, but I found the damage to be good enough as we can hit 800 + AR with a Dagger.
There's always the option to go Faith or INT and get weapon buffs instead and Quality Upgrade or so.
@@cRPGBro is that with buffs or no?
So would you recommend using execution great axe instead of misericorde?
If you are having trouble with the skeletons that are tied to a sorcerer, you can craft holy pots and they will stay down regardless if the sorcerer is still alive. I think you can also use holy incantations to the same affect too but I build that doesn't rely on spells and stuff.
That is really nice to know!
Thankfully that Torch Bearer enemy usually falls down fast in one hit, hardest part is getting to him past all the skellies.
Same with the Golden Order Greatsword

@@cRPGBro Glad I finished that playthrough before the 1.08 patch destroyed Flame of the Redmanes!
Sounds like a pretty powerful combo indeed!
Glinstone Pebble Ash of War can also do pretty nice poise damage with a fast cast, but close range.
Legit tried this build on the last half of the game. I did swap str for faith and used flame art instead of fire.
Took a bit to get used to it, but it indeed wrecks a LOT of bosses and near all regular mobs.

Thank you for the sub!
And really glad to hear you're destroying the bosses with the build, it can really be lots of fun!
@@cRPGBro On my way to grab the golden parry right now!
I swore I would not play this game again, but this build is a perfect build for me. Now I know what was missing in my play-through.
It sure is a fun build, so if you're ever wanting to do a new run, I highly recommend it 😀
great build, I've been playing this a ton for the last week of so and it's one of my favorites. (definitely the best early game build)
Some lategame additions:
I talk about it at 07:47
But you have to remember it will overwrite Flame Grant Me Strength, the Elemental/Magic Negation Buffs and also Boiled Crab/Prawn.
For my third playthrough i wanted a parry centric critical hit build. This looks great. Thanks for your work!

@@cRPGBro Working my way through volcano manor right now. Build is great, though i switched to Nightrider Halberd instead of the dagger. Didn't like *needing* crits and the crit damage is comparable to misericorde
An important notes to add about parry:
You also need to be reasonably close to enemy for parry to work (except for a golden parry obviously)- the actual length of the weapon doesn’t really matter.
you get more range on the parry and a wider cone, as far as i know. so why not use it
The wind parry on a medium is on the same level as the buckler while also can block with 100% physical negation
@@dyslexicwolf1448 because it’s literally more difficult to execute due to less parry frames.

Hey there, and thanks for watching my videos for so long, ever since the Pathfinder days 😁
I plan on returning to Pathfinder for the content I have yet to do, like Aeon, Swarm Devil & Legend Guides!
I would add Quickstep AoW is also excellent for getting backstabs. If you lock onto an enemy and aim a quickstep forward and to the side of them your character will actually circle around them, instead of just doing a straight line, like bloodhound step. This is mostly good for human sized fast enemies.
Thanks for the tip!
It can indeed be a great alternative and certainly a lot easier to get than Bloodhound.
Man, I pride myself on building unique, powerful and fun builds to break the game with. I just picked this up and...I am amazed. It literally puts the game on easy mode without summons. Def subscribing.
Don’t tell devs

@@akajesusx I found the Rapier, but how to make it keen? please

How would you go about fighting enemies that can't be crit with this build? Draconic Tree Sentinel became a bit of a slog for me due to this. I also imagine that Fire Giant will take even longer than usual?
Great question man!
I am not sure about fire giant as I haven't tried it, but even though you cannot crit some enemies, they can be staggered for some free hits. I'd actually like to test the rapier against the Misericorde running a Dex build, keen on both, and either scholar's or electrify armament. Tried it for a few hours and so far it´s kinda insane ^^ Switching to buckler parry from normal parry makes it feel so much better :D
Quick Question: Would it be maybe "better" to go for lightning and keen with dexterety for the build? Since more enemies are weak to that element.. I guess you loose the fire buffs etc tho
use another dagger with glintstone phalanx to stagger so you can also keep the flame affinity

I was also surprised how effective Criticals can be in Elden Ring.
True, does seem too strong
@@steviewonder0850 No doubt in my mind it'll get nerfed. If hoarfrost was too strong, this is gonna get hit hard too.
Flame of the Redmanes might get nerfed eventually indeed, although it's not really a strong factor in PVP, I think, which tends to be one of their biggest reasons for nerfing stuff.

did you go lightning infusion or electrify armament? just curious if you invested in faith.
@@Sam-yr8ls good to know. Thanks for the info mate.
@@codeninja1 go forth and stab stuff for big boy damage! 😆
@@Sam-yr8ls so with lightening infusion, you can put any AoW on it? And make it go dex?
Try exchanging some more healing flasks for mana and replace the blue crit talisman for the dagger talisman which will give your crits a 17% boost.
A direct upgrade from buckler parry is to use a medium 100% physical shield and put on the Carian retalliation ash of war. This is because it only uses FP when parrying a spell but keeps the super huge parry window.
Oh damn I thought it was a bug that I was receiving double hp/fp on proc critical. Didn’t realize it was because the enemy type was consider “large”
Source: sewer monstrosities I like to parry practice
I’ve been using a crit build with a very identical setup.
Nice! Having a Physical + Elemental Split really is the way to go for huge Critical damage!
Can u explain a bit more in detail I might want to try this .. i have sepuku already
@@cRPGBro pls I dont understand how its that possible why having phys + fire damage (str scaling on the ash) it give more damage on critical hit
@@cRPGBro doesn’t split damage go through split resistances like other games in the series? Can’t rely on the sheet damage necessarily?
If you're having a problem hitting those invisible scarabs, if you hold heavy attack, you'll drag your weapon along the ground until you release it, and the dragging does deal damage. If it isn't enough to 1 shot the beetle, it will at least be visible and targetable at that point.
Or use a thowable like the explosives or fire pots, since literally no one's using those things for anything.
Thanks for the tip! They can be pesky to get sometimes.
Some of the best guides.
Continue to do more Builds.
Thank you so much for the comment!
I will strive to make more builds, thinking about a Dual Whip and also a nasty 4 debuffs in one build.
@@cRPGBro Dual Whip Vampire Hunter Bleed build?
Awesome guide! Thanks!
You're welcome, and glad it helped!
Thanks for the tip!
It seems like Darkness is indeed amazing for Backstabs.
Thank you!
It's certainly a very fun build and does make for a different and unique playstyle, I think.
Interesting, that is really nice to know!
Excellent Guide , my guy is starting to kick butt.
Awesome!
Really glad to hear my Build has proven useful to you.
This is ACTUALLY op and so fun and satisfying. Thank you for sharing!
No problem, glad you're enjoying the build!
Was looking for a build for my second play through will definitely try this..good build man
Thank you, and have fun with the build!
Yes! strengh build! everyone talking about dex, int , arcane. Unfortunatelly 90% str build is based on big slow weapons but its not my playstyle. I was looking something like that, STR + parry + fast attacks. nuts!
Have fun with the build 😁
I do think it's quite nice to get a big bonus from STR even on fast weapon!
Just your Flames of the Redmanes alone will deal crazy high damage, then your small dagger with high STR just seals the deal!
nice! real fullscreen this time. that's much better. thanks! 😊👍
Glad the video quality was better now, thank you for the comment 😀
This is a sick build idea! Seriously, I’m subbing.
Thank you!
It can really be fun to combine all the Critical sources in one build and playstyle.
Whoa, it's so strong, i bet this is what speedrunners will start using after From fixes carian retaliation.
Great video
Thank you, man!
Criticals do indeed make for a powerful combo, and Flame of the Redmanes is an amazing skill that you can get very early too.
I’m honestly surprised that he didn’t mention straight shield counters. I’ve been trying this build for a bit and have found that using a blocking shield can help in some very nice combos. Then again, this build is one that has a lot of experimentation potential.
shield counters as in parries? the art is far better since you need to parry malenia 3 times to break her stance
@@snickers7079 I mean just blocking the attack rather than using the weapon art, it works well for the lesser enemies to save fp.
It's actually quite funny how the big Dog enemies & the Prawns are Stance Broken with just one casting of Flame of the Redmanes!
you're a legend, this build is insane. Just beat the game with no summons and this build carried me thru the Malenia fight.
How did you beat Malenia with this build?
@@homesaucemagic did it exactly like he does in this video pretty much, just spam your ability button sometimes it takes more than 2, and dont be afraid to heal and back off for a second if you need to.
Quick note, golden parry and carian retaliation overwrites parry frames on any shield so the buckler isn't needed unless you rocking the normal parry
Yep, it's why I recommend going with the Iron Roundshield, which is a Small Shield, for the highest Physical Negation at 80%.
@@cRPGBro I was thinking maybe a med shield if ya had anymore weight room for 100 dmg negation since they'd have the same frame data as small shields with the unique parries
Gonna try this out since am about to start NG+, and this looks hella fun!
It certainly is!
You'll be amazed at how easy it is to break bosses's Stance for tasty Crits!
This build has been a ton of fun
Glad to hear it, mate 😁
What a comprihensive guide! Great Job!
Thank you!
I hope I managed to properly explain how fun a Critical character can be in Elden Ring.
15:50 Actually, the game can scale STR specifically to 150. You can level it up to 99, then increase STR by at least 1 and 2-hand your weapon. I haven't tested the numbers myself, but read this tidbit on a wiki.
this is such a quality video for the low amount of subscribers, you’re definitely going to get big
Wow, thank you!
I do hope that becomes true 😁
that's some build. Great job man. Insane AOW. How is no one is talking about how broke this is?
Yeah, it's indeed a super powerful Ash of War!
Certainly one of the best, and it's still at full power at the current patch (1.04)!
@@cRPGBro does it work on pvp? Because theres no video demo of it.
Regressive counting for the nerf starts NOW lol.
Great content dude!
Tks for sharing
Thank you, bro!
Better get it while it's hot indeed 😁
Thank you sooooo much! Amazing build!!
Glad to see you're enjoying it, it's a really fun build and it's still at full power post Patch 1.04 too 😁
Idk know if you already knew this but you can actually put parry on any dagger. You get the parry skill from the vendor in volcano manor.
Yeah, there are some parrying daggers indeed!]
I personally just prefer the Small Shields for a good parry window and also up to 80% Phys damage blocked.
@@cRPGBro I’ll have to try the shield you used maybe I’ll like it more
@@cRPGBro The buckler has "buckler parry" and it takes over for the ash of war no? How do you combine this?
Great build! Will use a lot of this info for my 2nd playthrough with a str parry/stance breaking character.
Glad you enjoyed the Build Guide, friend!
I guarantee you'll have fun with it for another playthrough.
Thank you for sharing your creativity.
Glad I could help, I was also surprised by how fun a Critical focused Build in Elden Ring could be.
@@cRPGBro It's fun and satisfying, seeing these bosses kneel before you for a critical hit.
I think it's worth noting the fire damage on flame of redmanes doesn't scale with faith so you can throw this on any build as an option for enemies that are resistant/immune to your primary build.
Indeed, Flame of the Redmanes is such a strong skill that it really works on ALL weapons!
Glintstone Pebble and Glintblade Phalanx ashes both provide similar stagger values.
combine that with blackflame incantation so your glintblade can inflict flame and bleed 👍
That is really nice to know!
I'm planning on making a Spellblade sort of character who has both melee and magic, so this should really help.
I was looking for a good pve dagger build, I think I finally found It!
I think I'm gonna throw in some other fire incantations and go for a pyro build + huge crits!!
your builds are super cool! keep going
Thank you so much, friend!
You are awesome with your builds and guides. Keep it up!
