Dorothy quickly grabbing her mother n covering her mouth knowing what she mighy say, is the funniest thing 😂😂. I die laughing everytime. It is one of THE most iconic moments of the show!
I just love Betty White. We won't see the likes of her for a long time. She could (and did) do it all. And she had a real ascorbic, biting, sharp sense of humor in real life. She could insult people, and leave them dying laughing while she was doing it. Fun fact: she first turned down the role on GG. She thought she would be playing Blanche. And she already played almost the exact same role, as Sue Ann Nivens, on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. But when they offered her the sweet, slow, nieve Rose, she agreed. She had never played a part like that. She is missed.
I'll never understand why LGBT rights get people so heated. Why is it so threatening to let people live their lives so long as they're hurting each other? I don't understand how two people getting married is hurting anyone when everyone is a consenting adult. And I hope that this episode doesn't get any sort of hateful comments about the message of the episode. Sending lots of love your way, Alexxa ❤❤
Just a small thing really. When Sophia was advising Blanche, you referred to Blanche as having been married to Charlie when that was Rose. Blanche was married to George.
Clayton: 'I'd do anything for Doug. and he'd bend over backwards, for me.' 🤣 + the quick way Dorothy, silenced Sophia. 😂 wow Rose, being competitive is one thing, but stealing a trophy from someone who passed away, is not something to be proud of.
I always roll my eyes and laugh when rose says something annoyingly dumb and you say she so cute knowing in real life that would aggravating sometimes 😂😂😂
I don´t get it. This episode doesn´t make ANY sense. Gay marriage was legalized on 2015 in America...so, why this happened? Had they said it was just going to be an honorary ceremony or something like that then it would have made sense. But not a legal marriage. ...that or, Golden Girls took place in an "alternate universe" were gay marriages were a thing. By the way, I mentioned this in the death of Sophia´s transvestite episode...I´m glad that they didn´t make her son gay on the series just cause of that. As there are men that are transvestite and are straight. Sure, may not be the majority but still there are and I was glad they show decided to go that way.
Gay people got married even if it wasn't legal just to have the celebration of their love and commitment. Matt Baume has great videos on gay marriage portrayed on TV including this one from a show in 1977 - ruclips.net/video/_6HYnz2ToFg/видео.html also this one from 1976! ruclips.net/video/8oZyQ8eSxJg/видео.html
Well, yes gay’s technically couldn’t get marriage licenses everywhere in America until 2015. However that didn’t stop gays from having weddings and acting as if they were married even tho they weren’t legally so. Many of their weddings would more legally be considered a commitment ceremony or a civil union. It was also quite topical for GG to talk about it cuz there was a beginning movement for legalizing gay marriage. The first gay couple to sue for a license happened not far off from this airing, it was an unsuccessful suit, but a start nonetheless.
“SHE’S ON HER MANTLE!”
I died the first time I heard that line. lmao
"There must be homosexuals who date women!"
"Yeah, they're called LESBIANS!"
🤣🤣🤣
Sophia’s wisdom is beautiful. An incredible episode. Very important for LGBTQ+ rights history. ❤

"Maybe they've never seen someone eat a steak that fast."
When Dorothy caught Sophia, almost broke her neck, that scene will always be top 5 five classic moments of this brilliant show😂😂😂
Another point I just noticed and I´m glad they kept it. How Rose, as supportive as she was, still didn´t get the concept of the marriage.

This was such a funny but also a very meaningful episode. 😀🌈💙
Clayton does have great taste - Doug is very handsome and seems to be a nice guy too.

My favorite episode along with the Frieda Claxton one ...
"Brothers can't marry sisters" 😂
"Oh that's right, you're from the south!" lol
Dorothy to Rose: Blanche and Clayton aren't getting married you airhead! Doug and Clayton are.
Just a small thing really. When Sophia was advising Blanche, you referred to Blanche as having been married to Charlie when that was Rose. Blanche was married to George.
Ouuhh you caught that!! Yes, I meant George! 💛❤️
@@AlexxaReacts By the way, we both chose the same MVP, although I thought you were going yo choose Blanche.
Blanche Clayton Doug Rose award runner up

That's my favorite quote from this episode
Oh bummer you skipped the part where Sophia walks into the kitchen and asks Blanche Why do men have nipples? Lmao 😂😂😂 that part was too funny
Sorry!!! It might be in my original edited version available on Patreon. Some additional scenes are removed due to RUclips copyright hits 😊💛
@AlexxaReacts yeah I understand that.

I believe then they were commitment ceramonies but theyd refer to it as marriage as it was the only option they had.

There were gay/lesbian marriages in a bunch of 80s/90s shows: Northern Exposure, Seinfeld, Friends, Mad About You...
