Hey :) I really like your simple approach to things :) 🍀 While I was watching I waited for the lightest lights on that tree. On a really sunny day, like in your scene, the sun will push some of the greens way more into the yellows. I really miss that on your tree here. It felt like a cool looking tree on a more cloudy/rainy day to me. The cherry tree at the end fits in way better in case of colors and composition ☺️ Thank you for your tutorials 🍀 I learn something new every time 🙃
Thanks Carolyn - you’re right, my colours are a little muted. It is semi cloudy in my scene but I’m also afraid to add too much highlights or saturation as my work tends to look too cartoony or video gamey when I do that. But I’ll def do some more vids on color to tackle highlights as I learn more :)
@@jaywalkerpictures I understand that :) In this case... I don't think it'll look cartoony at the end if you would choose to put here and there a few little dots of more light colors. It just felt for me that that tree doesn't belong in the same scene as the rest of your piece because your characters show way more lights on top the heads for eg. than the tree shows the light from the sun. But I definitely get why you're afraid of going too far with your colors. I felt the same at the beginning and now I am just like "let's give it a shot". If it's digitally I just put a layer on top, try it out and when I don't like it I just delete it. It's totally secondary anyways because over all your tutorial is really cool and I like your general approach because it's easy to follow and well explained 🙂 I just couldn't help myself of ignoring the highlight thing because I really think a few dots would help that tree really out. 😅
Haha your reasoning about the characters heads makes complete sense - shows how paranoid I am about adding saturated highlights. Thanks for the thoughtful comment please feel free to critique my work in future as it’ll help me improve (and make better vids for u guys!)
@@jaywalkerpictures you really don’t have to be paranoid about that ☀️ in digital art it is so easy to try things out and undo if they doesn‘t work out :) I think art is there for exploring and learn to make desicions even if they won‘t work out. And fun and joy and ease. 🍀 If I‘ll notice something easy to fix in the future I will let you know. Thank you for your openess and taking advice (or opinion) by a total stranger 🧡
This is easily the most clear, concise, and helpful procreate channel I have found so far during my learning to draw journey. Thank you so much
Thank you for the kind words ☺️
I was just looking for a explanation about tree shading… Thanks
Thanks for watching
