From Xena: Warrior Princess Season 5 Episode 19, 'Looking Death in the Eye': An older Joxer buys a scroll that depicts Xena and Gabrielle's last-known adventure and tells its tale to his children; Xena, finally fed up with constantly being pursued by the gods, visits the Fates. Gabrielle early season: I wont kill, Gabrielle mid seasons: Killing is not the way, Gabrielle late seasons: Pointy things go into people.
She evolve a lots since season 1, she was a barde,became a monk and finish as a warrior.
It would have been complete unrealistic if they went through the entire series and not have Gabrielle take at least ONE human life. Sooner or later, she would have HAD to.

she doesnt even have remorse after taking the first life. There should of been a moment of her and Xena sat at a fire place and Gabs just breaking down over taking a life and Xena imparting some words of wisdom.
Ares' monologue at the end of this episode when he's mourning Xena is my favorite in the whole series! Such raw emotions! And Kevin's (RIP) delivery was just perfect. And the fact that he puts Gabrielle in the ice cave as well for Xena's sake is so sad/heartwarming💔

You would think when Xena has this thing supposed to be poison it would be staged and predetermined. How does ares not question how she happens to carry that. They faked their own deaths anyway and handed the baby over to another person's care. They call themselves God's and yet not bother to question the point of carrying "poison" on her.
Thank the gods for my terrible memory! I can rewatch episodes & they’re still new!

This season finale...whoa! Xena was cheesy in all the right ways while also being serious when it counted, and they knew how to throw plot twists.
The Fates told the gods that Xena’s baby will bring about the destruction of the gods. They got so scared and tried to kill the baby and Xena eventually had to kill them to protect her daughter. Had they just left them alone they’d still be alive. Talk about irony.
I love Xena. I love this show. This was my first love of series. 💛

Miss so much Ares / Kevin . They were so beautiful together but everyone cares only about the relationship with Gabrielle . I know and i respect the message of universal love , the love between the souls of xena and Gab but without Kevin Being Alive i feels so robbed of their memories. They also mattered in the story they indeed shared a bond not only about war but also feelings . Nobody talk about xena and ares anymore its so sad and heartbreaking

I agree! How I see it, Ares represents that bad boy love that you have. You know he isn't right for you and can lead you away from your good path but you just can resist the chemistry between you too. That's how I see Xena and Ares relationship. Despite the fact he wasn't good for her ( feeding her Darkness) it's undeniable they had uge chemistry and a real affection for echother. It played a role in the series and it shouldn't be brushed aside. I love their relationship.
Xena and Gabrielle faking their deaths in order to deceive the Olympian gods was a master plan! Unfortunately, the plan didn't go as they expected in the end
That was meant to happen in the end. The fates never told Xena that the Gods would think she was dead forever. Remember, Eve’s while purpose of being was to bring upon the death of the Olympian gods. They had to find out eventually in order for them to come after Xena and her kill them
Just downloaded TUBI the other day and saw they have every season of Xena and Hercules. I remember watching them when I was like 10 years old. Gonna have to re-watch both shows for nostalgia.
Its exactly sweet that the God of War was capeble of love and for a human no less, he hated his half brother Hercules, ok he was jalous, he was zeus favorite but also because Hercules helped people, in his eyes people were less.
So his love for Xena is quite beautiful

It's not that they were less to him just that they were followers and worshippers to him and well they were because Ares is a god after all. The fact he could love a mortal woman this way wasn't unqiue among gods. Zeus' fling with the mortal who would be the mother of Hercules wasn't just a one night stand. Zeus actually loved her.
I hateded those Gods, that's what made the series so great! Now I'm going to have to watch this episode again! Thanks so much for posting this! You Rock!
As a kid i never realized how absolutely random this show was 🤣🤣
One week Xena and Joxer are screaming at each other as they perform a Hellenistic pro-wrestling match, complete with ring, and shouts of "I will CRUSH her!". As Xena pretends that Joxer is choking her with the ropes. Another week they're weeping as they commit suicide. It was a VERY random show. I almost forgot how good it was.
But it was fun!
Reminds me off when Mighty Morphan Power Rangers first aired in the US. Awesome when kids, now………………

My memory is a bit rusty about this story arch but the Prophecy said that Xena would be able to kill the Gods as long as her child Eve is still alive. But if they left her alone they wouldn't of gotten kill as they did. Xena wasn't going to hunt them down. Only four people could know that she have the ability to kill the Gods and they could keep it as a secret. Her, Gabrielle, Hercules and Joxer

What if Xena had gone through with her suicide by sword thrust? Athena was an idiot not to be suspicious of the "poison" and not to verify that Eve was dead. She never had Hades verify that Xena was in the Underworld? In "A Necessary Evil" Velasca demonstrates that gods can hear heartbeats, so Athena should have known Eve was not in the cart. The Twilight required fans to have amnesia regarding all the powers the Olympians possessed in prior episodes.
Those can all be explained away. Xena and Eve could’ve been assumed to have gone to Heaven…like she had when she was crucified. It was too noisy for Athena to hear heartbeats. And I mean the poison made it seem like Xena died. That’s why she used Celesta’s tears and not a sleeping remedy potion or anything. While there are flaws in this storylines, the ones you found could easily be explained away lol

From a realistic standpoint you'd think Hades would notice when neither the spirits of Xena or Eve were in the underworld.
True. He's the god of Greece's underworld so he would have to know if they were really dead.

@@jameslyon2338 That is a great point. The Twilight was FULL of similar holes. The gods were portrayed with so much power that they had to be blind and dumb for the Twilight to happen. They could stop time, travel to the past, cast curses and simply snip a thread from the Fates to kill someone. Those powers would have ended Xena in a second. Velasca turned out to be a worse threat than all of Olympus.

Another possibility is Xena was steel-willed. Ares was aware if not then she would do it when he wasn't there. It was a matter of her life shattered her loss of her daughter and Gabrielle, her choice not his and he knew it.
@@liamloxley1222 Zeus was dead though. I think the reason was he knew if he stopped her, she would just do it later. The first time, he acted out of instinct and without thinking.

I grew up watching this and Hercules, Walker texas ranger, baywatch, than highlender in that order monday-frirday and on Monday after highlender 9pm WWF. Idk why i still remember them usa shows in order lol
Not too keen on these heavily introspective scenes, probably because I didn't see all the episodes in all the series. So I don't know what it's all about 🤣 Nevertheless, I much prefer the( relatively)straightforward episodes where Xena beats up the baddies while showing off her beautiful body😍 PS the introspection is similar to that explored in the adventures of another favourite heroine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

I know. That tells you that his powers are all they're cracked up to be. Xena and Eve not going to the underworld for 25 years tells you something. Plus, Gabrielle, according to him in earlier episodes would not go to Tartarus and or the Elsian Fields, because of her tribal connection.
Xena and Gabrielle are to be reincarnated, so they're no longer part of the Greek World.

Xena and Gabrielle awaken after 25 years, reunite with an old Joxer who is married to Meg and they have a son, Xena discovers her daughter changed her name to Livia, became as evil as Xena once was.
After turning Eve good, the trio go down to the beach to get Eve baptized, shortly after Xena is granted the power to kill gods by Eli, they are then attacked by the gods minus Athena, Ares ), and Aphrodite.
She then kills Poseidon, Discord, and Hephaestus, . Athena and Ares then go down to Earth, Athena comments on Xena's god killing ability and the WP then tells them not to follow.
Later that night Athena sends the Furies to drive Gabrielle mad, she then stabs Eve, and Xena who was distracted by Ares rushes in, they are met by Athena, Artemis, Deimos, and Hades.
She then kills Hades and Deimos, Aphrodite pops in wanting to help, she takes them to Olympus in order to get Athena to save her daughter and friend since gods can't heal without her permission. Xena manages to kill Artemis and Athena while Ares gives up his divinity to save Eve and Gab.
After that there is season 6.
I would get on Joxer for not helping but then again, what could he do?

Athena was so stupid during the Twilight. Why didn't she cut Xena's head off? Why didn't she stop time so all these chases were unnecessary? In "A Necessary Evil" Velasca demonstrates that gods can hear heartbeats, so Athena should have known Eve was not in the cart. The writers dumbed the gods down so Xena could beat them.
Oh, these screenwriters. 🤔 It seems that Athena did not use even a hundreth part of her opportunities to fight agains Xena. And steel Athena looks cool. 😍

They werent dead. They drunk the tears of the goddess 'death', which makes them appear dead, but really in a deep sleep. They woke up 25 years later, though.....because Ares encased them in an icy tomb.
