Wasn't this the episode where Gabrielle was trying to avenge her husband that Callisto killed? I think 'get her Xena' was just Gabrielle's way of saying Xena was more suited to the task, and that she was willing to put vengeance aside to let Xena go after Callisto.

If anyone was lucky enough to had watched this series during "first run", then you understood how ultra popular this show was. Back then, a spin-off show was lucky to finish one season. Xena and Hercules moved the needle for live action drama TV shows. There are action shows today that can't come close to how good Xena was.
The last few seasons from 4-6 kind of lost me. The writing wasn't as good. It just got stale except for the episode where Gabriel finally abandoned the whole pacifist thing and went crazy on the Roman soldiers. I'll always say that was Renee's best scene in the whole series, but other than that, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first few seasons.
Given Gabrielle's season 1 outfit and hair length, I'm thinking this might actually be their _first_ showdown. Been a loooong time since I watched Xena.

I loved watching Xena too. Part of my Friday night ritual growing up was watching Hercules and Xena. To be fair, other than Xena at the time, how many female action heroes had their TV show? It also helped big time having actually good writers, screenplay, plot, and direction.
Greatest moment of my life was meeting Hudson at long last at the 2022 Xena Convention. She was one of the best parts of this show and Callisto is my favourite character of all time.
I haven’t looked but hopefully you can find one. She looked stunning at that convention. She dressed in a traditional Indian wedding dress that she actioned off and raised money to support a sick woman who used to help raise money at past xena cons to give to kids with cancer.
I loved this show so much. These two were so iconic. Hudson Leick doesn't get the proper credit she deserves. She played this role so brilliantly, and it's a shame her career never reached higher heights, because she was soooo good! Of course, Lucy Lawless is still a badass to this very day. I wish they would bring this show back!

Honestly, I hated it too. I mean, I loved Callisto and I truly wanted her to redeem herself, but the way they did it was kind of half-arsed. I don't think she honestly earned it and she seemed pretty content to being a villain. The difference between Callisto and Xena, as Hercules himself said was that Xena WANTED to change. Hercules couldn't do anything by himself. Then again Callisto was so insane and far gone, that if you really wanted her redeemed (which I did), maybe that was the only possible way. And I really loved the part where they "give each other what they once took." That's probably one of my favorite moments of the entire show.

Almost "See no matter what you do to try to be the hero your still a villain" to really hit Xena where it hurts

Yes 25 years and i still keep watching it over and over. They dont make movies like these anymore which is sad. Hercules wasnt that bad with scott adkins in 2014 but nothing sydicate for tv
Of course they don't make stuff like this anymore, Xena is considered by a lot of people unwatchable anymore. Hercules had it's goofiness, but Xena was that on steroids.
