What are some things that make delivering easier for you?
A MUST is cold bags. I also have stickers that say eggs & handle with care glass.
Wow I never thought of stickers that’s a great idea and great touch.
The grocery handle hooks. They're on Amazon for 9.99. They can hold up to like 80lbs.

Memorizing the store numbers that are near me because there are so many, accepting a random order that "looks good" may have me driving across town doubling the mileage.
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that gets to the point where I just don’t want to do it anymore! I always seem to start out good but then by my third trip I’m waiting forever. After I wait sitting in my car for over 30 minutes I lose my motivation and plus my back starts hurting from just sitting there so I say screw it and go home.

I multi-app with DoorDash and Spark in Missoula, MT. We have two Walmarts in town. So far I've completed 168 Spark deliveries. I'm lucky because I rarely have a significant wait at Walmart. In fact, I've never unassigned an order due to excess wait time.
The only accessory I use in my car is my phone charger.
I just started with Spark. I had the same thing happen today. I waited 45 minutes and no order. I called Sparks customer service number and asked if I canceled through the app if it would hurt my performance rating and they said it would but if I canceled through them it wouldn’t. They also compensated a couple of dollars. I gather that you have to cancel through the customer service chat or call if this happens going forward.

I was thinking about getting the wagon cart from wal mart a few weeks ago, but my problem was the same as you stated on this video, how would i go upstairs with that, so i didn’t get it, and then i saw this video, went out the very next day and bought one, and let me tell you this has been a blessing for me, my feet, my legs and my back. See THIS is the most accurate representation of spark. Like how are you going to see cars come and go and not even come say a word to me. Like I’d I see someone outside for 20 I’m asking them. Especially if that’s my only job. They’ll give you like 3 deliveries then give you a 2 hr break. Like no I wanted to work 6-7 full hrs. Not the choppy 2 on 3 off type stuff. Idk.
I understand those long wait times lmao you’ll have a good groove early on and then park will throw your rhythm off especially when you’re tryna get those incentives
I realize this is one of your older videos and I'm sure you've mentioned this in a newer video. But for those who are newer and don't already know....NEVER wait over 15 minutes for any curbside pickup. ALWAYS call the number on the sign to verify the order hasn't already been picked up (the system occasionally still glitches), the order has been canceled, or their system didn't get you checked in. There are other possible issues, that's just the most common issues.
By the way, I 💯 agree with the totes, I have 3 😅
I have a cooler and wagon I use for my orders. I also have a catering bag. My wagon never gets folded. I just load it up and lift out and go.

I feel the same way when a order is 'ready' and it take soooooo long to get the order out to me.
Spark (aka Walmart) was the app to work for, but those days seem to be over. Every state or region will differ a bit but the changes taking place will be implemented everywhere. Long wait times, lower fares, tip baiting, too many drivers and Walmart’s employee turnover rate ends up costing drivers a lot of wasted time (curbside) which equals money. Walmart in several states has already started their own delivery program with hourly employees, they have also invited other apps for shopping purposes so eventually Spark drivers will probably be left with scraps. I’ve enjoyed app delivery work for almost five years and have made decent money including Spark but there’s a reason for the changes.

Always call after waiting for more than 15mins at pick up. If it says it’s ready, it should be ready. Shoot them a call and ask for an ETA then you can make your choice to unassign or not. Though if you wait 30 mins at pickup you’ll get compensated an extra $6 but make your the store knows you’ve been waiting and you’re unsure if they got you ready to dispense or not.
How do you get compensated an extra $6?
@@jennybenton2891 so RR usually the pick up time is at the :45 of the hour, the moment the clock hits :05 of the following hour. The order automatically gets surged up $6 from the original pay. Unless it says pickup asap, then those are already most likely surged up in pay.
Yes sometimes the waiting is so long. Even when the order is ready
It helps to get to know the various loaders. Normal small talk makes them remember you and then they will look out for you. Just fyi.
I agree but the turnover at my stores is so high I’ll get to know someone and then next thing I know I won’t see them again lol

I had a situation similar to this. I had to call out the associate and then the order came. I also have called the phone number on the number of the parking spot and that helped get my order quicker as well.

Take something to do with you like a book you've been wanting to read, or crochet, knit, or watch a streaming service. Something kills time. My waits be around 1.5 hours when I get a chance to deliver walmart but I only select high dollar value orders no less than $80.

This what started happening to me with spark. They used to give way more shops and that's what made it good and you didn't use to wait long for orders at all. I think the employees quit and started working spark

I wish one of our 2 Walmarts was more centralized in my area deliveries are always across town for me. Im still new to Spark. I like it way better than Instacart I hate shopping for people. I wish Spark let you cash out early tho. Sometimes I have to Instacart to have right now money. I shop on days I get rained out on my construction job or sundays . No one tips good where I live either.

The customer pays for them in advance! You just scan the QR code at self checkout when you're done shopping!
If you're supposed to be there in a timely fashion but Walmart it's taking a lot longer than expected will that count against you for delivery purposes?

Girl same here first time I worked for spark and waisted 2 hours the 3 order i got when i get there was cancelled after i drove 20' wtfish and then for Walmart to get my bags back was a drama the employees there were busy I have to myself take those bags and return to them no worthy
Lei, How do you "plan" the shop & delivers. It seems like the app makes me run all over the store in the most non-efficient way. Is there a trick to this? 2:10

In my area, they are just now getting busy with deliveries. I did my record yesterday 7 pickups with 22 drop offs. I am exhausted today. Lol.

I’m not sure if it happened to any other drivers in other states but our entire system crashed day before yesterday 😢and it was still a little messed up yesterday 😒

Wow thats how much you get paid? How does Walmart make any profit at that rate? Im curious because I joinned Walmart plus and have been using it at twice a month. The guys always say thats alright when they dont get a tip and now I know why.
Every time I've ever done a shopping order in my area the app chooses my path, to the effect of no way to toggle items they just put them front to back which is frustrating when they send you back and forth
Sometimes when you check in, it doesn't check in properly. I usually call and ask if they see me checked if I've been waiting for long.
I have noticed that they will come to the car and say that im not checked in.
I have stopped Wal-Mart carriers after they brought out an order & asked about my order. I told them that it says that the order is ready & they brought it right out to me.
They should pay you detention pay for waiting.

@Life With Lei after I keep seeing people leaving, and I'm still there, I go to an associate and ask about my order politely, and it comes right out.
How are you able to pick and choose which items you start picking first when shopping for the customer? I don't have that option when I start to shop it gives me the items in every direction which kind of slows me down because I'm going back-and-forth in the store.
Hit the back arrow on the " scan item" page and it will take you to the shopping list. From you can click on any item you prefer and go from there. You can subsequently resume shopping in the suggested order by clicking the "resume shopping" button. Hope this helps.

Judging by the time you waited and canceled, it looks like your work time is only when you are driving.

What do you do when you have water and jugs of milk and jugs of detergent laundry detergent and you have to go to the third floor to third door you can’t bring up a wagon they don’t have a elevator what do you do what does everyone do is there a way to scan and look at the order is there a way to find out that they ordered six waters? I am very new at this help
You can leave them at bottom of steps. That's a lot to carry up what if you fall?

I was told by spark customer service that if you wait over 30min then you should cancel and you get compensated for it.
Yes, definitely they give you about $2.50 but still time wasted.
@@LifeWithLei the last time it happened to me I waited almost about 45min, it was an express order, I called customer service and they said to never wait that long because it could effect your metrics if you deliver late, they compensated me the full delivery estimate of $31 dollars, I was suprised.

Normally they will provide a substitute or give you the option to scan in a substitute but if not I just hit can’t find and move to the next item. Spark does need to fix that
This happened to me the other day. I couldn't substitute stuffing mix with a perfectly good substitute. I was upset for the customer because I know they wanted to use that for their meal that evening. That does need to be fixed.
I waited last week over an hour. They said I should have still called even though I checked in. They said to call in 15 minutes if my order is not out.
but if you are checked in you shouldn’t have to call. Lol I know a lot of times they don’t even answer the phones.

I have no idea if this does anything, but I will sometimes re-confirm my parking spot number. In hopes it sends a ding or a message to them. No idea if this does anything but it does make me feel better. lol
I can't see the items until you accept the shop and deliver trip, for those types. But the regular deliveries items and addresses are shown ..
Yeah that’s the part that sucks they need to fix that but most of the times the shop and deliver orders aren’t anything crazy

I don’t trust them saying “ready” because I as a regular customer came for pick up and saw how they “cheat” and it’s similar to how McDonald’s erases your order from drive-thru screen way before you get your order, just to make their handle time look good. SMH
I got to Walmart at pick up time. Thirty minutes later, still waiting. At just under 35 minutes, they finally came out with my order. When it was done, I saw that they entered that they gave me my order 20 minutes earlier. I imagine they can do something similar with Spark orders and show it aa already fulfilled (for their metrics) when in reality it’s not.

If you have that option in your area the customer is responsible for buying them

Yes some have been good I only done 2 one at CVS and one at Target and they were like 16 bucks the man who I shopped at CVS tipped me 15 bucks and it wasn't far at all just for 4 items!!
I just became a spark driver and I am scared to death to do my first delivery
I had a pick up yesterday that took them 40 minutes. That will never happen again.

I waited almost an hour for an express delivery. Someone finally came and asked if I needed help. He had to take a pic of my phone, it wasn't showing in his system. I accepted the order at 5 min after the hour. I was hoping to get in at least two orders that hour. but nooooo. If it happens again I will cancel the order. Time is Money...
Yeah an express order should never take that long. I wish there was a way we could just get our own orders sometimes instead of having that long wait
You can also call and let them know that you are waiting
That's a long time to wait. I will usually get out of my car and stop one of the associates after they load someone's car and ask them about my order. That has helped/worked more than once to get my order out more quickly. Also, if you wait more than 30 minutes and cancel the order you should get paid $2.50. I haven't had to do this but many others have.
What’s a realistic amount you can make per week with spark ?
I’m part time and I usually work about 2-3 days and make an average of $450 week. If you’re full time I’ve seen people make about $800-1000 just depends on your market and how much you want to work

On the two deliveries you had to wait for, were you on their WiFi or your cellular??? If you connect to their WiFi, you will have problems. Employees have told me that if you are on Walmarts WiFi that a lot of times they don’t know you are there.
