Jesus wasn't trying to get people to give Him money but rather to get people to understand that the way they handle money reveals what's going on in their hearts. If the light within you is darkness how great is that darkness. If your religious experience in reality is self centered, self focused, self serving then your light is really darkness. But you think it is light... so it is even harder to see your need of Jesus.... therefore how great is that darkness.
