  • Jacob’s life of struggle continues. By this time, we are not surprised. His sister-wives and many children, and especially their feuding, are adding to his struggle. Furthermore, Laban’s consistent dishonesty and manipulation drive Jacob to a difficult but unavoidable decision: he must leave Padan Aram and return to his homeland, though risking death at the hands of Esau! Incredibly, through this giant and relatable mess, the children of Israel are on the verge of becoming a nation…

Man, this child naming war is SO awkward. 😩😖 Jacob’s inability to stand up for himself and not be caught in a sister feud is such a struggle. People pleasing often stems from child-parent relationships and his relationship with his mom is really standing out in this story. The breakdown of his life through this series is just getting more and more painful to process 😅. It’s wild how many times I’ve read this story and saw lots of the family struggle but different aspects are clicking differently in my mind now. The fact that God continuously declared Himself the God of this highly dysfunctional bloodline really shows God’s character to claim the “embarrassing” family members. We’re so quick to say we’re not related to family we’re not proud of, but God’s not because He sees the heart behind all the struggle, not just the actions. It’s been decades and centuries of dysfunction - What patience God has! I’m blown away by this series, Davy. This is fantastic.

People pleasing is a tough one! Among many other, homeland, characteristics. 🤦‍♀️
It stands to reason why God took Moses out into the wilderness to undo his wayward learning, before God taught him what God needed him to know & learn.
Just trying to overcome childhood, learned attributes, can offend others. We don’t understand what everybody’s been through, as we don’t even understand all of what we’ve been through, or how to change matters for God’s glory.
Praise His holy name-this is where Christ Jesus comes in-Alleluia❣️❣️ ❣️

I could literally see Jacob remembering the prophecy about himself, that God gave his mother about the older serving the younger, when his beloved Joseph told him about his dreams. Powerful, powerful sermon.

Jacob a man at work a boy at home! Putting his mother will be God's. Then putting his wives will be God's. Was he blameless? God allowed him to be fruitful! Its also interesting the roles idols play in this story. I think there is a connection between fruitfulness and our relationship with God. Very interesting Rachel wasn't very fruitful and she was the one clinging to the idol of her father! (Gen 31:19) Great series David. John 15:8

I think that’s why so many, in our country, like Trump-President Trump! because he stepped up and got things done, and he acted like a man for our country while he was in presidency, even though he could be a bit tackless in his approach while speaking, he still had some really good calls concerning our country. In comparison to our, now, president Biden seems to be a pushover, in many cases, a brainless wonder.
    Just saying 💭.
