    I absolutely love the "table talk" format of study. It gives so much more insite because of both of your experiences and knowledge. Love it! I would love for you two to sit down and do a series on "character development!" Something practical for everyday use. And how the state of mind should be during the process. Life skills for success. Either way thank you both very much

    Only God can know if one’s actions will lead to condemnation.
    So my rule is to not sin myself by taking my guess as knowledge. Only God knows the heart.
    What’s not a guess is judging facts. And making wise decisions by what we know. .

    I can so identify with what Ty says about appreciating someone who is cranky while exercising patience. I have a disability called PMDD. To demonstrate how destructive it is, 8% of women experiencing PMS have PMDD. 14% of the 8% of women who have this condition attempt suicide because of their suffering. I suffered for for 27 years before I discovered it was a medical disability. I felt shame for feeling miserable and depressed for half of my life. I have experienced judgments, criricisms, stigma, job loss, academic failures etc while I myself was learning patience through my suffering. I now have had it returned to me through my amazing husband God has blessed me with. I think he is like a superman to be patient and understanding of such need.

    From your favorite EGW book David:
    “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs.”-Matthew 7:6.
    "Jesus here refers to a class who have no desire to escape from the slavery of sin. By indulgence in the corrupt and vile their natures have become so degraded that they cling to the evil and will not be separated from it. The servants of Christ should not allow themselves to be hindered by those who would make the gospel only a matter of contention and ridicule.
    "But the Saviour never passed by one soul, however sunken in sin, who was willing to receive the precious truths of heaven. To publicans and harlots His words were the beginning of a new life. Mary Magdalene, out of whom He cast seven devils, was the last at the Saviour's tomb and the first whom He greeted in the morning of His resurrection. It was Saul of Tarsus, one of the most determined enemies of the gospel, who became Paul the devoted minister of Christ. Beneath an appearance of hatred and contempt, even beneath crime and degradation, may be hidden a soul that the grace of Christ will rescue to shine as a jewel in the Redeemer's crown. " Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing p. 129
    We shouldn't view people as dogs and pigs but there are people who appreciate the truth about as much as dogs and pigs appreciate pearls. There are situations when we should speak up with the truth to admonish and encourage our brethren and times when it is best to be silent. May the Spirit help us to know the difference.

      I was going to try and say the same thing. I just wasn't sure on the wording. But you have hit the nail on the head here. I totally agree with what you've said and it makes sense.
      There are certain situations especially out in the street, when I just want preachers to be silent because they are trying too hard to convict people, people who just have no interest and are just out to ridicule the preacher, or trample them underfoot as Jesus says. And this can actually damage the gospel.
      This is also why debates are risky, because as Christians we are to set an example. Normally on a debate its the person who has the loudest voice wins. Knowledge, understanding, morals, commonsense, intellectual conversation, etc. Is all off the table, and yeah......
      But anyway. I agree with what you said and I believe this is what Jesus is communicating here.

    Regarding the pigs and dogs reference, the Message Bible renders it this way:
    “Don’t be flip with the sacred. Banter and silliness give no honor to God. Don’t reduce holy mysteries to slogans. In trying to be relevant, you’re only being cute and inviting sacrilege.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭MSG‬‬
    Perhaps that helps?

    Thank you! My perspective on the dog and pigs was this. Dogs tear apart, pigs are aggressive. Taking into account that the emotions assigned to that action, will be what will be done with good graces, when they don't have regard for them. God wants us to give good graces to everyone, regardless of how we feel. Simply because people choose to joke and malign that which is given with good intention, doesn't always end up making us feel hope. Having lived this for 36 years, I know that it's difficult to forgive, but it's necessary. Judgement is a positive thing when we don't compromise on the truth. Even when that truth doesn't leave us blameless. It allows a change in perspective. When we gracefully accept our wrong doing and we act in a Christlike way of repenting, we set the example that sinners aren't condemned forever. There is hope only in Christ.

    On the Dogs and Pigs, my take is: as Jesus is talking for a very Jewish audience, and Matthews is also writing for the same cultural background audience, sounds like it is an idiomatic language, well known, so current, by the people at that time that Matthews didn't see the need, also, to expand on that. Also, I personally think that Dr Jordan Peterson has a very simple, psychological, insight on that.

Love Kingdome Manifesto and look forward to the next one. Here’s the *subjects* I’d like to know more about from a Biblical perspective:
    *Honesty versus delusion-
    *Relationship versus illusion-
    In the light of “Actions Speak Louder Than Word’s.” Jesus was particularly expressive concerning “Thus saith the Lord”-“It is written” was a very important concept in the eyes of our Creator. Why do we, as His created people, have so much trouble performing the tasked set before us, when we have such awesome promise from Christ, of being compelled to accomplish what Jesus has called us to do? Our lack, and inability, boggles my mind. “What does living your neighbor as yourself” look like?
    Please forgive me, but I have what I believe to be Legitimate questions, which no one can, or is willing to answer. Sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind over this! (no worries, I haven’t, yet).
    ‘No Man is an Island'
    No man is an island entire of itself; every man
    is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
    if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
    is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
    well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
    own were; any man's death diminishes me,
    because I am involved in mankind.
    And therefore never send to know for whom
    the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
    -John Donne
    I wonder how many islands are really out there, and how we can be lead to help them?

    Yes Ty. I am afraid to ask any questions in the Seventh Day Adventist Church because of fear that we will be considered a troublemaker, even though to me the question asked is really a legitimate question. people will judge that that question is not a good question, that you shouldn’t be asking it because you’re a troublemaker, when that may not be the case at all. I presume they get this idea from basically the scripture, Titus 3:9 “But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.” In my opinion, Seventh Day Adventist should come up with a new book-“question approval list.”

    Perhaps Matthew chapter 7v6 is not meant to be read in the context of 'judging others,' but as a part of the overall context of the wisdoms Jesus shares. For example, the following verse after verse 6 where Jesus says 'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you...' (v7). This one is a different wisdom to both the preceeding verse as well as the verses on judging others.
    What I gathered from vs 6 has always been a word of wisdom to not share wisdom (pearls) with just anyone, because not everyone will appreciate wisdom or knowledge. Some will respond to wisdom and knowledge with hostility.

    Or you have pearls but you're not perfect. So if you cast them to people that aren't "there yet" they will tear you apart verbally outing you with all of your sins or indiscretions. ?

    I have enjoyed this series on Matthew 5-7. David you and Ty wanted to know what we thought about the difficult passage about Dogs and pigs in Matthew 7:6. Dogs were not looked at as man’s best friend
    in the first century Palestine. They would have looked at us as crazy to build dog houses, buy expensive food for dogs and pay for expensive surgeries for dogs to keep the family pet alive. Dogs where not important! You also do not give something valuable like pearls to dirty pigs. So I think Jesus is saying something sacred or extremely valuable like your relationship with God should never be hijacked by judgmental attitudes towards others.

  • @tuxedoapps3532
    @tuxedoapps3532 2 года назад

    Pearls are pearls of wisdom - deep truths. Swine are militant atheists who will misrepresent and miss interpret your words to the detriment of yourself and others in earshot.
    Angels weep to see the precious truth of heavenly origin cast before swine, to be seized by them and trampled with the mire and dirt. Cast not “your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” [Matthew 7:6.] These are the words of the world's Redeemer.
    God's ministers should not count the opportunity of engaging in discussion a great privilege. All points of our faith are not to be borne to the front and presented before the prejudiced crowds. Jesus spoke before the Pharisees and Sadducees in parables, hiding the clearness of truth under symbols and figures, because they would make a wrong use of the truths he presented before them; but to his disciples he spoke plainly. We should learn from Christ's method of teaching, and be careful not to close the ears of the people by presenting truths which, not being fully explained, they are in no way prepared to receive.. Okay Gentlemen, this is totally off the subject, But I have nobody to ask who I can get an answer from, so I’m going to ask you so you can think about it and ponder it to determine if you want to get back to me, one day, about it. I was wondering about Communion: if there’s a biblical reason why we take it as often as we do, how often we’re actually supposed to take communion, and why, etc?

    • @talentshapiro1928

      I could try to answer. Jesus said as often as you do this you remember me so there is no prescription on how often you should take it. Paul does warn in 1 Corinthians 11:29 that we should not eat and drink unworthily otherwise they become guilty and damned.

    Matthew 7:6: Dogs and pigs are unclean and yes, Jesus is referring to heathens (spirits, Ephesians 6:12) just like in Acts 10:14 when he spoke to Peter. But we have to look at the context. There is a reason when a man grabs a woman and she calls him a pig or a hits on a mother and her daughter. Or even a woman who dresses provocatively. There are curtain situations, or mind sets (fleshy) that just aren’t worth it. Proverbs 26 4:14. We are not to become like them in their own folly to be tempted to sin. Some people just don’t get it for whatever reason. Have you ever heard the term, don’t argue with a psycho? Other scriptures for reference Leviticus 9:17, Gal 6:1, 1 John 2:9. Proverbs 9:8 Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.
    I would love to see you guys revisit this because there are so many scriptures for reference. I think it’s worth a whole show.

    • @vol.9543
      @vol.9543 2 года назад

      Also if I could add: the devouring part of the pig is slander and using words and insults. This is called murder. 1 John 3:15 murders don’t go to heaven. It’s breaks the 6th commandment. It poisons the heart.
      Plus, it’s not our place to sit in the judgment seat of Jesus. To be also judged unfairly for the mistake to put on shoes to big for man, so to speak. There is a judgement but we are not to judge. Anyway, thank you.
