- What is the lodge of sorceresses? In this video I try my best to explain the history of the lodge of sorceresses . I will go over prominent members and their history, the lodge of sorceresses effect on the witcher games, Philippa Eilhart, Sheala de Tancarville, Margarita Laux-Antille, Triss Merigold, Keira Metz, Sabrina Glevissig, Francesca Findabair, Ida Emean aep Sivney, Assire var Anahid, Fringilla Vigo and last but not least Yennefer of Vengerberg! A quick disclaimer - A lot of these videos use information from the witcher wiki, in some cases I do read directly from the pages, I do always make sure to include my own thoughts and other information I know myself, but I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page here. Even though I use information from the wiki, I do still create the videos, with time, effort and a lot of editing! The idea behind the lore videos is to present to information to you guys in a fun and more interesting way then you guys having to get the information from pages and read it yourself. “The lodge of sorceresses” was basically Geralt’s personal fkfest. His personal brothel.
Nah, they all manipulated him and treated him like shit while the only reason they wanted to fuck him was to make Yennefer jealous. Sorceresses are the most egotistical and disgusting fuckers in the Witcher universe. Even dragons and higher vampires are more friendly and altruistic than mages

Was going to say, that must have been a hell of a coupe to cause all that chaos.
Just a rule of thumb which might help when pronouncing any French words: Don't say the last letter. Works for almost all French words that are used in the English language. (Except for coupé which is actually pronounced the way it's written, Americans get the one wrong all the time).
Also, ducal, it is a hard c as in cat, another one you miss when you say it.

How do common people manage to capture mages so easily? Can’t they just like teleport? I thought mages are pretty powerful. Aren’t they capable of killing several people with a flick of a hand?
Dimeritium bombs.
Yes they can kill people with the flick of a hand but it’s by no means indefinite. Imagine that mages have a mana pool, but in addition to reaching 0 and not being able to cast spells, they consume some HP from their HP pool as well.
Think of it as Thanatos from the game Smite. To cast his abilities, you consume HP and mana. Same idea with mages (although the onset of HP consumption happens a lot later)
Mages are not trained warriors. Remember that those Sorceresses of the Lodge are the top tier mages. Most mages are alchemists or some other scholars and they only use simple spells. That's why it was so easy for the witch hunters to capture them.
Dimerit work on them and not all witches are powerful Yenifer is most powerful of female and Volgefers is stronger of all of mages he beat Vampire Witcher and Yenifer Gerald mange to win by talisman that give him time as it make him kinda invisible or something like that for 3 sec that enough time

Yenifer so strong as she don’t fear use dark magic as she try find a way to become pregnant so she did a lot + thanks to Gerald she can’t die and need become stronger as he make a wish “last wish” we don’t know what wish but we know it so she and Gerald survived and Gini can’t kill them maybe

Henselt was winning, vandergrift slayed seltkirk and the aedirnian army was ready to rout but sabrina, with the help of the lodge, casted that firestorm spell which killed tonnes of kaedweni and aedirnians. They backstabbed henselt to ensure that he would lose in upper aedirn
Also, just to build on what you said about letho, letho blamed the regicide of demavend and foltest on the lodge. (which the lodge was complicit on the murder of demavend, and there are large hints that the lodge were behind the murder of king visimir and the father of prince tankred.)
Radovid and a mage whos name I think is cadomir or something like that were working behind the scenes to reinstate the conclave of magic in redania.

Because of how great you word plots in this video and others, i am becoming a paetron. Maybe not the best but hopefully it can help.
Specific part that inspired me : when Yennefer tells the sorceress that they will pledge to make magic present, respectable, and practiced again was the part where i decided that i shall also make this my duty although i do it without knowing.
I wanna see Saskia and Francesca findinbair in the witcher 4
i kinda want the witcher 4 to be either the story of ciri and we would travel trough multiple worlds and do stuff there
or a whole different witcher maybe even one that we dont know of

We should of been able to recruit Corinne Tilly to join the lodge as well as saving Felicia Cori’s life with her joining the lodge as well.

my fav moment in the books is when they go to the wrong castle looking for vilgefortz because geralt tricked them, during the events of lady of the lake I believe, I pictured them wearing ninja attire to infiltrate the castle , so funny

It's no surprise the world turned on magic users after the Witcher 2. If you were told a specific group was responsible for all wars, king's deaths, and suffering, your opinion of them would diminish rapidly. Especially when there is very clear evidence to support your claim.

the witcher's illuminati?? are you kidding? the lodge failed at almost everything they ever set to accomplish, were directly responsible for their even further diminished status come witcher 3.
in the books they failed to contain yennefer, they failed to keep the lodge a secret, they failed at finding ciri, they failed at containing geralt, they failed getting to vilgefortz and their influence on the treaties of the peace of cintra was minimal.
in the games they failed to get alvin, they almost completely failed to help against the salamandra (apart from what triss did), the were played like a fiddle by letho and nilfgaard indirectly causing the death of foltest, they supported sabrina in her monsterous attempt to change the outcome of the battle for lormark which resulted in an incredibly destructive curse taking hold of the region and the death of one of their members, philippa let important information get into the handas of nilfgaard by way of cynthia just like assire duped vattier with cantarella and then to top it all off they caused the witch hunts, partially by their actions during witcher 2 and partially because philippa is just a horrible horrible cunt and ruined radovid from the get go.
their few successes had disasterous concequences that were not what they intended and in witcher 3 they needed to be saved and rescued and had to be led by yenefer, avalach and geralt to do the one important and positive thing they accomplished since the thanned coup and like i said they didnt really act as the lodge for that, it was just the remaining members - keira doing what yenefer, geralt and avalach told them to do.
they must be the most useles, inept and counter productive illumanita of any fictional universe i have ever seen.

Well there wasn't a hurricane around the stygga castle. Geralt lied to Fringilla and gave her the wrong location so the lodge went to the wrong place the rhys-rhun castle. And the lodge learnt the right location only after Geralt and his company freed Ciri and Dijkstra learnt where Vilgefortz was hiding from Geralti. Also the hurricane was a portal thingy that was connected to the sedna abyss.

You rly didn’t explain Sabrina’s story very well or why Henselt was so furious with her. It wasn’t just bc she used magic and killed a lot of people, that’s way too vague and doesn’t specify who was all caught in the spell and why it was so gruesome. He was furious bc she killed lots of his own soldiers with the spell bc it was just cataclysmic and when he saw the utter chaos and horror of it all and his own men burning alive in their armor he felt like it was a disgrace to everyone’s honor bc Henselt held skill at arms to be the highest virtue.
How/why did Triss end up becoming Foltests advisor when Kiera Metz was already there as his advisor? Seems odd to replace a lodge sorceress with another one...
Basically she lost all of Foltests trust and then after Geralt saved foltest from the assassin at the end of the witcher 1, foltest made Geralt his, i guess you could say body guard and he also appointed his friend, Triss as his adviser!
There’s something I don’t understand about the lodge and being advisors to the kings in the north. In the Witcher 3, you are told by Keira that she used to be Foltest’s advisor, but on the Witcher 2, Triss is. I haven’t gotten that far into the books yet so I don’t know if Keira used to be Temeria’s court sorceress and was then replaced by triss or is something completely different, but it bugs me a lot to be confused by it

Both Keira and Triss were court mages at the same time, but after the Thanedd Coup all mages were banished from Temeria. For some reason Foltest forgave Triss so she was his advisor again in The Witcher 2
A kingdom can have multiple court mages at the same time but only one adviser. After the Thaned Island incident Foltest fired all the court mages but the first game some how get Triss back and promote her as a main character.
I like Geralt and all, but I actually long for more of a Skyrim situation in Witcher 4, where you can create your own character and join any of these organizations you please, having more choice in how you interact with the world. I'd LOVE to join the Lodge of Sorceresses...though I guess you could only join that as a female character unless there's some kind of loop hole for transvestites. Which would be awesome.

I always hated the lodge. It’s because of them that innocent mages and non humans are executed. They wanted to use Ciri as their puppet, force her into a loveless marriage. “We misjudged the situation” my ass. They knew exactly what they were doing. The only sorceress I respect is Yennefer. She’s one of the most powerful sorceresses and still got herself out of there. She may be a bitch, but she was able to see a bigger picture, something most of the lodge clearly lacked. “You were to become one of us” my ass, Ciri is a better person than that.

I don't think Philippa is evil at all, I don't think her actions were evil either. She is ambitious and commanding, not evil. Nobody says the Emperor is evil because HE chose to have Letho kill all the northern kings for his own benefit, But Philippa hired Letho to kill 1 king and she is evil? She wanted the ability to command and control a kingdom directly and that makes her evil but a king isn't? She was the head of the Lodge and wanted sorceresses in each capital as an advisor and she is evil for it? For wanting advisor positions?? No she wasn't/isn't evil, ambitious yes. If she was a man nobody would say she was evil but ambitious.
In all the games I like her better than I like Yen. She is willing to explain and talk to Geralt while yen barks orders and demands fealty. Yen is closer to the evil Philippa that many see because Yen wants what she wants and cares not for the repercussions. Philippa was all about the repercussions... She just didn't plan Geralt into her schemes enough.

I want to know is: Why do Sorcereresses look like youngish beautiful women when they are 100s if not 1000s of years old?
They use magic to change their appearance, for example yennefer was a hunch back and used magic to look beautiful (Geralt later fixes it, but she still used it).
WitcherGeorge and i guess they use it as a benefit to use their beauty to get what they want also being younger has physical benefits such as being faster, stronger and greater pain tolerance.
WitcherGeorge if i were to be able to pick any of the groups to be in from the Witcher i'd be a school of the Wolf Witcher kind of like Geralt

It's a bit of overstatement, they all depend on their kings, they can't be anything more than counsellors in the shadows cause no one trully trust or respect them. The way Radovid simply and quicly turned the whole north against them shows this.

Besides I doubt all mages have access to offensive magic. Some of their magic abilities aren't geared towards that like Aeramas the tyromancer. Tyromancy is the art of cheese divination.
0816 M3RC yeah, I thought that till I read the books, it's not all witches, but a good lot of them should be strong enough that they can at least teleport away when in danger.
+golden brigain I don't think every magic-user is so powerful that they can become an exile and still survive. That lady on the stake may have been able to flee and/or fight a good amount of those peasants, but what about the next day, or the next week, or maybe the next month? Also, according to what was said in the vid, mages were respected prior to the whole anti-magic movement,,,,,,,,,,,,,so many of these mages were known, and therefore couldn't "hide among the regulars".
I always hated Philippa. This vid did not improve my opinion.
