- This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into ion dipole forces and ion induced dipole interactions. Ion dipole forces arises from the electrostatic interactions between an ion such as the sodium cation in table salt and a dipole such as the water molecule. A salt water solution contains ion dipole interactions. An ion induced dipole interaction occurs when an ion causes a nonpolar molecule to become polarized turning it into a temporary dipole. The interaction that results in an ion induced dipole interaction.

This guy makes me understand everything better.... Always 🙌
Me too
This was finally explained once and for all clearly, and now I can even explain dipole ion and dipole Induced interactions to other people.
I've been saved! All my teachers were explaining the characteristics of these forces but not how to distinguish between them. Thanks for the help!
true
Exactly!
The most ingenious teacher ever😭
You are good at making things easier😁
does your back hurt from carrying my college career?
thank you so much, it is so easy to understand when you explain, love your video. Thank you !!!
Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a basic Introduction and Analysis into Ion Dipole Forces and Ion Induced Dipole Interactions in AP/General Chemistry. The explanations are fantastic, however, I am confused about the solution to the two practice problems in this video. This is an error free video/lecture on RUclips TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.
this guy is saving my chem grade
Thanks for saving me in AP Chem
OMG!!! I finally understand everything!!! Thank you sooooo much!!!
thankyou for saving my med tech career
THNX FROM algeria
Fantastic video! I really liked that you included the questions too.
if no one got me, organic chem tutor got me
Can you please comment on the directional or non directional behaviour of these interactions?
Thank you for the video!
Very helpful thanks :)
Thank you for real❤❤❤❤
I understood😌
The concept is very easy. But my textbook just contains a bunch of useless lines.....
Thanks alot❤️
Thank you for your video. I wanna ask to you, how about interaction between sodium chloride and carbon tetrachloride? how to describe the interaction between these 2 molecules? thank you
Nice sir
Thank you so much for another wonderfully informative video TOCT. I am curious, will you be making any videos on geometric optics and optic waves? I always go to your channel first when looking for a topic and didn't see one on those.
Thank u sir
damn legend
Thanks
Thanks. :)
God bless you for saving my life 🙌 🙌
What’s the best way to determine the polarity of the molecules? Through molecular geometry?
if the difference of electronegativity is equal to or more than 0.6 between two molecules it will be polar

Regarding to the ion iduced dipole is it the same as LDF?
Hang on, why doesn't O2 just have the one arrow like CO2? Making it polar as well?
Please Reply.
what is meant by non polar forces
Man u realize u actually savin lives here
is this only for non polar molecules?
you said
ion + nonpolar molecule = ion induced dipole ( temporary) is it right?
OR
ion + polar molecule= ion induced dipole interaction
which one is right?
ion + nonpolar molecule = ion induced dipole interaction.
ion + polar molecule = ion - dipole interaction.
Polar molecules are permanent dipoles. Nonpolar molecules can turn into or be induced into a dipole for short period of time. Polar molecules are associated with dipoles and nonpolar molecules are usually associated with induced dipoles. I hope that helps :)
thank you very much .. you are so kind. it helped.
Hi
R u on instagram
I have a question sir? Why the answer here is -35 kJ/mol?
Calculate the potential energy of interaction of a sodiun ion that is at 3 Amstrong from HCl molecule with a dipole moment of 1.08 D.
Heres the question. I got -17.4 kJ/mol when I used the formula V = -kqu/r^2
Where k = 9 x 10^9 Nm^2/C^2
q = 1.602 C (charge of sodium ion or Na+)
u = 1.08 D
r = 3 Amstrong
Where do you think are my mistakes? Thanks for responding.
Which ion is stronger, Cations or Anions?
Anion
No cations due to fazan's rule cation is small in size hence has high polarizing power
Ain't atoms greater in size have more chances of being polarized?@ananditasharma6817
Can these forces be considered as Van der waal's forces?
no
Van der Waals forces is the sum of ALL the intermolecular forces, so yes. I'm almost certain it is, do correct me if I'm wrong.
@@Ashiq.Ibrahim no you are right
Nacl or h2o ka example Hindi me details jaye
in the first question SO2 is a polar molecule then how it can make ion dipole interactions with any ion... ?
cartisa brown
Because Polar molecules are usually associated with dipoles, when interacted with ions, they firm ion-dipole
pwde kita na lang? ky para ikay tig tudlo nako 🤪🥴

For children
are you a child?
What makes you think so?
because you said this video is for children so you must be a child because you watched it completely
Watched it and commented what it is....
And i think u might be one
