- Storage is the most important thing when it comes to camping. I have a new Van and I need more storage space! While this is a pretty simple project, there are some tips and ideas to think about.

You just helped me overcome my fear of drawer slides! I've never seen anyone build 'around' them and that's the smartest approach ever! Thanks you! This was very cool!
As someone who spent many years going camping with a husband whose packing style can only be described as 'chaotic' this gives me feelings of such peace and contentment just watching how neatly that went together.

Laura, as someone else who's brain runs in overdrive 'designing' things and analyzing optimising systems (such as organisation), you might be a 'nerd", but it's not a bad thing at all :)
"Just get started-don't overthink it" It's so inspiring to hear those words coming from you Laura. Many of my best outcomes on projects came from that approach. (MOST, now that I think of it.) I'm a middle school science and engineering teacher with an after-school Maker Space where students can build whatever they want. The biggest obstacle for 100% of my students is perfection; they want so bad for everything to be perfect that it hinders their creativity. Your videos are perfect instructions on not just how to build something, but how to approach building something. Thank you Laura, as always, for the guidance and inspiration!

I had exact same logic with my van. Ended with more or less the same solution. Packing is the key. No disturbing moves in the truck. Next step for me is the energy.

Should've done this years ago in my van. Looks really good, the grid thing totally makes sense, and having two fixed spots for boxes as drawers is a really neat addon. Thanks for all that inspiration 🤩

Nicely done. The key is having bins on hand to make it all fit. And, as you mentioned... springing for the best slides. Cheap is never good and the good is never cheap. I missed the "LET GLUE DRY"... your signature thingie.

I live on a sailboat. I use a similar grid system. I leave the corners off the grids walls to make it easier to sweep the inevitable spill off the shelf. Love your videos.

Laura the looks Smoudo was giving you at the end of the draw build said it all, he was hoping that you was making him his very own sleeping quarters and instead you filled it with storage bins!!! Storage box heaven! love the organization system!
Germany always has smart stuff. All those slides and crates are specialty items in the US where we have to steal old worn out milk crates from the back of stores as they're not for sale anywhere. The closest thing the US has are 5 gallon buckets.

Looks great. I like the modular aspect of it. I made my own runners for my van. The bought ones were crazy expensive for the weight and length I needed (over $1000 nz!). So I made them from square 20mm pipe and skate board bearings (got the idea from Pask) and it works so so well. Cost me $100 and can take 100’s of kg’s of weight
Would love to see it if you have any pictures/film from the build? I just found this video since I'm looking to to do the same in my motorohome and also realised how expensive the runners are :-D

This German organization of stuff is pretty cool. I'm a happy messy person, but when you have limited space, you gotta make an extra effort and plan something cool. Congrats Laura!

3D Zarges-, Systainer- and breadbox -Tetris, spiced with occasional folding seats. I'd become a fan, wouldn't I already be one.
Only thing missing here (...yet 😂): The side panel section of the drawer that doubles as an extremly good looking, rocksolid surprise folding table .... .

Love it! Just finishing off the drawer/fridge/etc. system for the back of my T6. If I may one other bit of advise for van drawer builders - watch your weight! These type of drawer slides are vital and oh so practical but they, and birch ply, weigh a massive amount so if you've only got a small payload, think carefully about materials. Great video Laura, thanks :)

Love the eurocrate concept. I custom built my closets to the dimensions of the boxes that reams of paper come in, so that way I could keep off season clothes in these sturdy lidded cardboard boxes and they'd all fit perfectly. At the time I had an unlimited free supply of these boxes because both my partner and I were working in offices that used tons of paper. Since that time we have moved to remote paperless jobs so finding replacement boxes is slightly more difficult.
