Orville is an underrated show. It's a parody of Star Trek, but does it in a sincere way for those (like me) who never grew up on Star Trek. Instead of starting an entire 50 year journey from the beginning, I get to enjoy something new from the beginning. Comedy done well, but also real ass stories, ideas, and emotion.
The title is miss leading, the robot was following the collective concensus, they wanted him gone as a group "vote" as per the boy's words, so he enacted the order, the robot miss read the boy's words and self deleted his programming.

I'll try not to spoil anything, but basically he betrayed the entire crew and got a lot of people killed and put all their lives in jeopardy. He later did something that won back the trust of the Captain and most of the senior staff, but the rank and file crew and the kid still haven't forgiven him.

Well, the shorts takes it out of context, condense 1h of scenes into poorly edited slideshow, takes out several lines out of every scenes and edit it back together, etc. The show delivers its message a lot better than this makes it seem.
