There was only one problem - Charlie grew up thinking he was a rhino too! 100% agreed. I go here often to get away from the narcissism of society. It shows just how much the natural world brings out the best in humanity, IF we embrace & protect it, instead of exploiting it for something as stupid as money.
Honestly, my favorite part is that the rescuers allowed them to be kids first, then taught them to be what they are second. It is a very human approach, but also, kind of beautiful at the same time.
Rhinos & hippos are two of the absolute cutest animals when they’re babies….SO unbelievably adorable!!☺️
and after elephants the 2nd and 3rd strongest animals when they are adults.
I like the baby rhino running and playfully bouncing around. As if to say “you can’t catch me”. 🦏

rhinos are one of my most favorite animals and it kills me knowing that their numbers just keep dwindling and dwindling due to poachers. I can only hope that whatever interventions are being done is enough to keep them from extinction. This story was so sweet and adorable 🤗♥️

The only solution to ending poaching lies with their greedy and vain wealthy customers who are responsible for poaching to begin with. These poachers are not well off like their customers and have chosen a bad life for at least sympathizable reasons.
However, many of their customers relish in the idea that a hard sacrifice was made for their sake as a way to fulfill their vanity. These people are the real problem. There is no excuse to defend their wilfully harmful extravagance. Imagine losing rhinos to extinction because some insensitive people can have bragging rights about how "precious" what they have is.

It is so heart breaking to see so many orphaned babies due to human scum poachers. They are disappearing even faster day by day because of humans.
Sadan's baby. True. But the way humans do it is massive, fast, unnatural and cruel. Droughts, starvation, fights and abandoned situation give other animals chance for food which recycles it's own way. Humans just waste almost everything.
They aren't disappearing because of humans. They are disappearing because of certain humans. Let's not judge us all by our weakest examples. This video shows that people are also working to save them.

Without killing them, eating them, hurting them, human existence have driven rest of the species to be extinct except the dogs and cats which humans decided to populate as much as humans. And factory farming animals for food consumption. Study what we are doing to them. You cut trees to build your home and there are 8 billions now who are doing the same thing. What do you think we are doing? Just breathing air? We take their food sources, water, territories and everything.

And so many more are doing what they can to help creatures such as this. You make it seem like all humans, of which you are one, are out to destroy the world and everything in it. And then make it seem like it's wrong to build a house out of wood. We are the caretakers of this world, which does not mean we should run and hide from it. Living in a cave so that we'll never cut down a tree again is not the enlightened path of the most intelligent being on this planet. Certain humans are the problem, not all humans.

As a Finnish American and a Hippopotamus (as well as Rhino) lover, I certainly appreciate the selection of "Moomin" as the name of Charlie's female companion. What a great pair of friends both she and Makhosi seem to have been for him! I hope they have all been/still are doing well now, as we approach 2023.
Usually, Hippos are really territorial. I am loving that the Rhino and the Hippos are friends and that they are friendly with humans. I wish I could be there to meet them.

It’s extremely interesting to me because, naturally, they dont exactly like each other, rhinos tend to charge at them thinking they are challengers. This turns the whole order upside down and creates something alive and new, and it’s beautiful

It's so sad to think that they are almost better off staying in sanctuaries rather then being released. How long will they have before some coward shoots them for a trophy?
Their biggest threat isn't trophy hunting, it's the demand for their horns in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which doesn't even have any scientific evidence supporting it! It will be a great tragedy when they go extinct, and a dark spot on humanity.
How long? Never the southern white rhino is not even close to endangered so chances are he won’t be shot
Trophy hunters aren't the problem, it's poachers.
Trophy hunters pay thousands to hunt specific rhinos that are interfering with the likelihood of the species surviving long term.
Poachers just kill for money.
Hunters want to be able to keep hunting, so are huge conservationists, poachers don't care.

Well he would think he's a Rino wouldn't he? Without their horns hippos and rinos look almost identical. And neither of them have great eyesight. Heck the rino probably still can't tell the difference.

That’s what I was thinking, the hippo wouldn’t see itself probably to know he looks different and just assume he is a rhino. If it’s smart enough he might even think he’s just a deformed/different rhino.
@@Funny-iq9bq Hippos kill more humans than any other non human animal. One of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt was even killed by one. Wild Hippos are definitely meant to be left alone and go nowhere near or look at in the eyes. They look like giant pit bulls though lol so cute, and babies who grow up and are released into the wild sometimes come visit their rescuers from time to time, they form strong bonds.
