Saw the head-stock peeking into the frame and screamed YES! Sooo underated in the guitar community (but are quietly the largest North American guitar-makers)
Everything Godin makes is good stuff. I wish we could have an American company that would make good stuff for a fair price......look at the Gibson Les Paul Junior......they should be a $350 guitars!
I have that model (and also a Seagull Entourage Folk Burnt Umber) and I agree 100% with your review of these guitars. I've just found your channel and have subscribed. Best wishes from UK.
I have a Seagull SM6 I out over 19 years ago and besides some minor issues (had to get my one tuner fixed after one year and having the bridge slightly pulling up after 16 years (had to have it glued back down and a set up), it has be a stellar guitar. By the way, when I bought mine, Seagull would ship the guitars in guitar cases. Some guitar stores sold them with the case and others took them out of the case and sold the case separately.
I've owned a Seagull Mini Jumbo Entourage for years now and it's brought me nothing buy joy when I play it. I'm usually asked what I'm playing at open mic nights....no one seems to own them....and everyone loves it's tone. I also love the low gloss finish, lets the wood vibrate more naturally I think anyway. Love the cedar tone!
Thanks for the comment. Couldn't agree more. Seagull is about as good as it gets for the money. I also like how they give you a really nice piece of wood for the fingerboard too. No binding or frills...just good quality.
I have the same guitar, purchased in 2012. Great guitar!!! So glad you are showcasing it. Do you think it’s better than the lower priced Martins? In your opinion, do you prefer phosphor bronze or 80/20 bronze strings on it?
yup i bought one of these when my martin broke. i just wanted a cheap guitar that sounded good. now i'm looking to upgrade but i'm not sure where to go from here since i'm happy enough with the seagull
Martin dx series guitars are good in this field too. Huge lows, LOUD! They are made of counter top material and plywood necks.....but they sound great!
Right on Whip. The Seagulls are so underrated. Good woods, great tone, built in Canada. And the prices can't be beat. The S6 is the best acoustic for your money (about $399).
A brand new S6 at Guitar Center is $529 😬 I looked at one on Friday but as a beginner I didn't want to spend that much. I found an Entourage Rustic on Craigslist and got it for $240!
Underrated....how do you figure? They're rated in the top 10 acoustic guitars, just as popular as any I other guitar, been a top seller since 82....you people need to do research before you talk. Very talked about guitar..
I just got one of these for $240 from Craigslist. In great condition. I'm a beginner so it was nice to get a quality guitar for a good price. And you aren't kidding that it's loud! Oh, and I like the headstock!
There is a big difference in prices between canada and the states for sure. Have you done any videos on the repairs that you do? I have a taro 12 string that I need to put a brace into because the top isn't quite strong enough to hold the tension and starts to bow out so it won't stay in tune. It is a cheap guitar but I really like the sound and neck so I am going to tackle beefing it up a bit. I am slowly catching up on your videos and am learning lots. I see guitars at the auction quite often, I have only bought one there so far. An old 1960's winston hollow body that someone converted into a tenor guitar. There have been a couple of seagulls but I have stayed away because of the some of the damage but after watching this I may give one a go. Thanks for sharing.
I played my friends and was blown away.. it plays like an electric! I have a Guild and my freting hand gets so tired and is a little hard to bend strings. Not at all with the Seagull.. had a "fast" neck.. I really liked it!
love your review; already searching for a seagull. How about fender PM-1 All Mahogany? How do you think about it? your view is much appreciated ; thanks
Never played one.....but I think I will now. Never really took much notice, but so many people have said you should check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey Dave have you tried out art and lutherie guitars? They're made by Godin too, they're in the same price range and I think they're great guitars, you should check them out and maybe do a video on them. Love the channel by the way
Art And Luthiery guitars are super cool. I don't really see any difference between one and a seagull other than cosmetics. Godin builds good stuff for fair money, I love what they do.
I always had "cheap" acoustic guitars that were not very good. Always wanted a Martin or maybe a Taylor. Got a Seagul Flame maple in a trade back in 97. Solid spuce top, solid 3 piece flame maple back. It is loud, resonant, just superb. Most people that play it, this not an exaggeration say it's the best sounding acoustic they have ever played. I really don't "need" that Martin anymore.....
NO, you don't! lol I picked up a seagull for $100 a few months back. Laminate mahogany back and sides and sold spruce top.......it sounds amazing. It's the one in the seagull vs gibson shootout and it was preferred 2-1 over the Gibson.
hey Hait. I wouldn't say I would recommend any cheap strings because they are all very close in price. I would say to buy strings online ( or over the phone) from a big retailer like guitar center, eBay, musicians friend etc. Or better yet ....If you really like a certain brand/ size, then buy them by the dozen. Juststrings.com is a great dealer but they charge for shipping , so just one set doesn't make sense. But when you buy bulk they have a great price. Bulldog audio ( if I remember right) usually has great prices. As for cheap strings there is really only Musiciansgear ( by musicians friend) for cheap strings and I have never tried them. But they are cheaper. All the other brands are very similar in price for regular strings. Coated strings like Elixer's are all quite a bit more. Thanks for the question.
Seagulls are some of the nicest guitars I've ever played. I played a seagull excursion 12 string that's puts any other 12 string I've played to shit, they can make a 1200 dollar Taylor sound like a toy
Thanks for the comment Daniel. I just bought a Seagull m6 ( mahogany back and side, solid spruce top) and I just love it. I paid $100 even at a pawn shop. It was terrible out of adjustment but dialed in nicely. LOVE those seagulls.
You do excellent reviews. The only constructive criticism that I have would be to maybe talk a little about the materials. I myself enjoy learning about all aspects of an instrument. Thank you!
I have one of the fancy takamine, with the pretty inlays and beautiful finishes, but it has a rise where the neck meets the body. I didn't know a lot about guitars when I bought it but now that I have built several I know better,Ha! I had to sand down the last 5 frets to get it to play right. It played ok,until the weather changed and then it would raise up. I always put a fall off on my last 4 or 5 frets now just to be safe. Thanks for the reply.
Yeah seagull sits right in there with high end acoustics. Play them back to back with the best guitars in the room. Youll probably walk out with a Seagull, if you let your ears decide. They dont sit over with the cheap Yamahas or Epiphones or China made Fenders. Nope they sit with the best guitars in the room, and you wont be able to justify the price tags on the big dogs. I took home a seagull, when I was ready to drop cash on a J45. I couldn’t justify the Gibson just using my ears. And Made in Canada you arent buying a China made hunk of firewood. Godin is a great company.
Saw the head-stock peeking into the frame and screamed YES! Sooo underated in the guitar community (but are quietly the largest North American guitar-makers)

I think it’s easily the best looking headstock on a guitar. Something about it.
Yeah me too, Mike.
I have a Seagull 12 string and it's amazing! Bright great projection. You are so right the price is unbeatable for what you get.
Thank you !!!!
I super appreciate your honest video.
Yes, I found one at a pawn shop in GREAT condition for $210
I love it !
I have that model (and also a Seagull Entourage Folk Burnt Umber) and I agree 100% with your review of these guitars. I've just found your channel and have subscribed. Best wishes from UK.
you should do instructional guitar playing videos. I love your style brother.
I got a seagull for my bday last year and I must say it’s exactly how you’ve described it. Loud, bassy, and has a lot of resonance.
The headstock is the best thing about the guitar I love the way it looks. I love the vid I will subscribe.
Great advice, great playing, subscribed!
Thanks.!
I bought the same guitar(older model) for $250 in perfect, almost new condition. I love it!!! I love the color on it!
Nice video Whip! i'm considering buying one now
They are simple and well made. You don't get a lot of "bling" with it, but they have great fretboards and awesome tone.
I have a Seagull SM6 I out over 19 years ago and besides some minor issues (had to get my one tuner fixed after one year and having the bridge slightly pulling up after 16 years (had to have it glued back down and a set up), it has be a stellar guitar.

Review is great. The guitar sounds great. Found one for sale. Thank you
yup i bought one of these when my martin broke. i just wanted a cheap guitar that sounded good. now i'm looking to upgrade but i'm not sure where to go from here since i'm happy enough with the seagull
I love Seagull guitars !!! Codons too
IS THIS REVIEW PRIOR TO REPAIRS OR AFTER?? EITHER WAY IT SOUNDS AWESOME. GREAT JOB AND INFO.
Exactly what I look for in a cheap acoustic, still in pursuit, thanks bro!!!!!!
Martin dx series guitars are good in this field too. Huge lows, LOUD! They are made of counter top material and plywood necks.....but they sound great!
Nice ! I also got a used Ibanez, ae 20 at gc for 190 bucks. Plays like a dream, keep up the good work!
Thanks RP!
Right on Whip. The Seagulls are so underrated. Good woods, great tone, built in Canada. And the prices can't be beat. The S6 is the best acoustic for your money (about $399).
Agreed GC! Seagulls are a pour mans Martin......or martins are a rich man's seagull..
A brand new S6 at Guitar Center is $529 😬 I looked at one on Friday but as a beginner I didn't want to spend that much. I found an Entourage Rustic on Craigslist and got it for $240!

I actually wanna try the high end orange-wood which only has its market in the US. Same price as the FG830 in USA.
I just got one of these for $240 from Craigslist. In great condition. I'm a beginner so it was nice to get a quality guitar for a good price. And you aren't kidding that it's loud! Oh, and I like the headstock!
I like watching your vid's keep um coming.
Thanks Mark.

Hey Kevin, I don't know how to "add" a brace to a guitar but I'm sure its possible. I don't have any repair videos shot....but I will in the future.
I played my friends and was blown away.. it plays like an electric! I have a Guild and my freting hand gets so tired and is a little hard to bend strings. Not at all with the Seagull.. had a "fast" neck.. I really liked it!
Seagulls are the bomb
love your review; already searching for a seagull. How about fender PM-1 All Mahogany? How do you think about it? your view is much appreciated ; thanks
Hello Pittaya. I haven't played that guitar. If I get a chance I will check one out.
That guitar sounds awesome. I'm looking for a second guitar, cheaper than my Seagull Artist Mosaic Element. This might be it!
Awesome channel!. You should review the epiphone lp 100
I'll add it tot the list. thanks
killer sweater / great review
Thanks Russell!
Howdy Whip! Enjoyed!
thanks!
Like your vids,, good job !!
Thanks
Alvarez Ad30 is an outstanding guitar for about $231. including shipping. It has a solid top, bone nut and saddle and sounds very good.
I'll keep my eye out for one. Thanks
great video. subscribed. ramble on!
Thanks JV!
Never played one.....but I think I will now. Never really took much notice, but so many people have said you should check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
I bet you'll like them.
The headstock is a better design - the channel is great we need more output more than 1 a month
Hey Dave have you tried out art and lutherie guitars? They're made by Godin too, they're in the same price range and I think they're great guitars, you should check them out and maybe do a video on them. Love the channel by the way

i like the setting
Its the back porch of my old farmstead in northern Michigan.

Man, you play great! I'm on the lower end of the economic classes, but I'm crazy about music. I'm very much considering buying one of those seagulls
Great guitar. They do feel a bit "large" so go play one before you order one. Cheers!
Hey Whip what are cheap acoustic guitar strings you would wanna recommend?
hey Hait. I wouldn't say I would recommend any cheap strings because they are all very close in price. whip's cheap guitars they're definitely some of the most under rated guitars
Play us a bit more of Over the hills!
right on.
I gotta Norman B20 Folk made by the same company. Great guitar.
Godin stuff is great gear! I had a summon and patrick that was awesome too.
So if you had several of these same guitars, would that be considered a Flock of Seagulls?
Yes it would. Thats what I would call them. :)
What about the Yamaha FS800 that retails for $199?
I'll add it to the list!
Anmol Karki it's an ok guitar but not close to a seagull.
fg830 is cheapas well
But not a patch on the Seagull
Beautiful ~What is the guitar name?
Seagull Entourage rustic.
Nice. I heard Seagulls are great. Personally, I like the Yamaha acoustics and think they're a bargain also. $199 for a new fg800 solid top.
All I ever hear is good stuff about those.....I really need to buy one ( twist my arm)...
whip's cheap guitars you should really try out the Yamaha fg800 or fs800
You do excellent reviews. The only constructive criticism that I have would be to maybe talk a little about the materials. I myself enjoy learning about all aspects of an instrument. Thank you!
I bought mine for 200 from a guy off craigslist. Easily better than my taylor.
Just got one used online 293 after shipping and tax
gr8 video..r u a Guitar salesman??? You should be lol.....
NOPE
waaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo! men! is unbaliveble!
Good guitar for sure!!!
I will have to say it sounds better than my 600 dollar acoustic.
Those Godin made acoustics are really great for the money. What Guitar do you have?
I have one of the fancy takamine, with the pretty inlays and beautiful finishes, but it has a rise where the neck meets the body. I didn't know a lot about guitars when I bought it but now that I have built several I know better,Ha! I had to sand down the last 5 frets to get it to play right.
