Seagull Entourage Rustic Review

- A shorter than normal video on my "Sacrificial" guitar. A Seagull Entourage Rustic, made by some fine folks up in Canada. If you can't see yourself spending the extra money on a carbon fiber guitar, think about doing what I did. I paid $165.00 on this used guitar and have had it 2 years. If it falls apart tomorrow, I didn't have much of an investment in it. I'd like to get about 5 years out of it, but we'll see. This is the one that I take outside to enjoy when the weather isn't optimal.

Super sacrificial seagull Randy, it is what it is for the money and that would be fine by me, it's ideal for roughing it outdoors or whatever, thanks for the talk and the playing well done my friend and I'm glad to see you survived the storm🎸👏👏🙏🏻
We did survive it! There were what we call "naders" in the area that night that went north and south of us, so we dodged a bullet. I guess living in "nader alley" has its drawbacks from time to time. Always appreciate you brother man 👍
This one would be great for playing around the campfire Randy!! When I go camping I bring a similar guitar to pass around and play some songs with a few friends!! We all need an outdoors guitar and that one looks and sounds awesome for the price! Big like!👏👏✌️😃🎸🎶👍
Hi Brian, great to hear from you. Great minds think alike 😂. There are some pretty nice sounding guitars that can be had for very little money. Thanks for the view and the observations, brother man 👍
Wow a good price for a decent guitar which you say is a sacrificial guitar in other words you won't be super careful as you would with many of your other more expensive ones. Nice sharing of information for would be buyers. Great review, Randy! ❤❤❤ Nice playing too!
Ms Donna, thank you so much! I always appreciate it when very talented, musically degreed (in reality, or experience) take the time to come visit and comment. You're at the top of my favorites list, ma'am 👍
Always a pleasure to visit you, Randy! You're right about the investment in an instrument and getting the years out of it! 💜👍54
Hi Ms Leenie, much appreciate the kind words 👍🏻
Great video as always Randy. I have 5 of Godin's guitars. They make guitars in all price ranges, and as you say, they are well made. Mine are higher end solid wood models. I always said that Godin guitars are one of Canada's best kept secrets.
Hey Terry, I couldn’t agree more. On my wish list is the 5th Avenue. I should have already bought one, but haven’t. I think the whole line up is really well thought out. I hope nobody misunderstands the video. I’m not opposed to laminate back and sides. That said, it is a way to control costs. Unless it’s a Gypsy Jazz, or some other archtop, it’s the only reason I can think of to do it. Those made in Japan, as far as flattops go, seem to really sing. Great observations, brother man and always great to hear your thoughts 👍🏻
@Randy's Rhythm I love my 5th Ave. They aren't the greatest for volume, but with the right strings, they have that jazz tone that is like nothing else.
@@terryovell3057 Hi Terry, what strings do you use on your 5th?
@@randysrhythm D'Addario ECG24 Chromes, Jazz Light 11's. They are a flat wound string.
@@terryovell3057 thanks brother man 👍🏻
Laminated back and sides guitars have a place. Like you said, you don't have to worry about taking it outside.
I'm not a fan of cedar tops either but have heard a couple that sounded really nice.
Take care Randy and this was another awesome video.
Hi David, always appreciate your insights, brother man. Yes sir, laminated back and sides have a place, for sure, just as cedar tops do. I remember a time when, if it had strings on it, I was grinning ear to ear 😁.
@@randysrhythm
Me too. That's all the guitars I ever had until recently.
never heard of that brand yet...so thanks for your informative presentation! looks beautiful, sounds beautiful!
Hey Wolf, yes sir, not a bad builder at all. The mother company is Godin. Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciate you stopping in and commenting, brother man 👍🏻
Awesome works my dear friend Randy and great reviews!!
Love and respect Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Hi there Kyle, much appreciated, my friend 👍🏻
Marvelous presentation, Randy's Rhythm! Looks and sounds great! Wonderful sharing. Best wishes. God bless.
Thanks Happy and always great to see you, brother man 👍
Sounds great mate. Nice guitar great video
Thanks Oz! It has a place, for sure 👍🏻
Nice one my friend!🤩 your guitar sounds melodious. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you, Vanngle 👍🏻
Very happy the storm didn't take you folks out! Decent guitar for very little money. Have a great week Randy!
Hi Ms Rose, it’s great to still be here 😁. Yes’m, getting something like this saves money in the long run 👍🏻
I tell you what, Randy, this guitar has got some tone. $165 sounds like a pretty sweet deal, to me! And that mod you did reminds me of the those Gibson J165's that John Lennon and McCartney wrote all those amazing songs on. Another Hugely informative and fun video! Thanks Brother! 🙏
Thank you brother Paul! Yes sir, that guy actually added that to this guitar before I bought it. It's not a bad little guitar at all. It has actually rekindled my desire to pick up another Seagull, solid wood at some point 👍
I think everyone should have such a ‘sacrificial guitar’. I have a Taylor GS Mini clone from Harley Benton in Germany which cost me £110 inc on board electrics and case, and find I play it more than my expensive ones. It plays and sounds really well and I don’t care if it gets knocked, bashed or rained on! It’s the one I take on my travels with me everywhere! Thanks for sharing this story buddy! 👍🏻 Regards, Dave
Great minds think alike, eh brother man Dave? Clones surely do work for this purpose. After all, they are simply tools 👍
Sounds wonderful! I always love your reviews. So much great info!🤗
Hi Ms Gypsy, thank you so much, ma’am and always great to hear from you 👍🏻
Another great Video 👍 A good picking buddy of mine has a older Seagull. Same size as yours. No pick-up. Mahogany/Spruce. Sunburst. It’s a real nice Guitar. 🇺🇸
Hi Dennis, thanks for the kind words. I am considering taking another look at their solid woods. They seem to be a very good company. Great to hear from you and hope you and yours are doing well, brother man 👍
amazing guitar sound
Well brother man, amazing may be a bit of a stretch, but it's not too shabby 😂. Always appreciate the kind words.
$165?? That was a very good deal my friend! Very nice guitar for this small money. Thanks for sharing your review Randy and greetings, Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, not too shabby, eh? Great to hear from you and hope all is well, brother man 👍
Scrivo solo: "Grazie per aver condiviso questo video". Pollice alto. 😀
You are most welcome, L’Omino 👍🏻
Nice review
and I'm glad to hear you gave the review well
thanks for sharing
Hey there Ruli, great to see you on the channel and very much appreciate the kind words 👍
That guitar sounds nice. I think the previous owner put the pickup because he knew a nice guitar when he heard it, and wasn't hung up on whether its laminate, or how much it cost! A nice guitar is a nice guitar.
Hi Mark, I think you’re on to something there. After considering the limited volume from the cedar top, I’d lay odds he did it to bring the volume up. Either way, I’ll keep it till the wheels fall off. Great observations, brother man and always appreciate the insights 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm you may be right Randy. Volume sounded ok to me, considering old strings. Anyway, its nice to have a back porch player in the arsenal. I bought my FG820 Yamaha for just that reason. Not so much back porch, but to chuck in the caravan when Im traveling. Cheers mate.
Nice guitar at an Awesome price , I think you can`t go wrong with a cedar top if you are a finger picker or a very soft strummer. When pushed they do not have much headroom , now the Cherry does make a good tone wood , I have seen a few boutique builders use it and they sound great.
Thanks for sharing your beater with us !
Hi there Colonel! Great observations brother man. Do you think they might have used cherry for the neck?
@@randysrhythm If I remember correctly I think they did , But I could be wrong.
Very greatful video my friend
Thank you so much, Reni/Gero! Great to hear from you and hope you two are doing well 👍
Yes a guitar for outside always cool 😎
The neck is Silver Leaf Maple.
Thank you, Randy 👍🏻
Fantastic video my friend it sounds like a great guitar 👍
Thanks brother man and always appreciate your insights 👍
I like that mod with the knobs for the pickup.
Hey there brother D Jr!! Yes sir, it actually sounds pretty good plugged in. When it finally dies on me, I'll transfer that to one of my Baxendale guitars. Appreciate the feedback and hope all is well on the homefront. Les Paul Jr, up next. I actually picked up a Bogner 40 watt tube amp in El Paso this week, which I'll be doing the video with. Wait till you hear that amp!
The Les Paul Jr video is done and releases tomorrow morning, brother man 👍
@@randysrhythm Looking forward to it. Thank you.
Randy, thankyou for your review
Hi Viviemne, very kind of you to say. I really appreciate you taking the time to view and comment. It means a great deal to me, ma’am 👍🏻
Nice work, very enjoyable!
Thank you, Kaso 👍🏻
Godin makes several models of guitars, and they a have six brands, essentially but all built relatively similarly. Unfortunately they change their line-up\models more than they should. As a result, they will not have much of a line that is the "staple" of the company such as what the bigger brands do. With that said, they are capable of making a good guitar, and North American made for now (they have tried a cheaper line overseas, but I don't think its going to well). Anyway, I will say my buddy has a Seagull S6 that is close to 30 years old, it has tone. My Father has an Artist series seagull that is also very good. Like any other company, they have some nice gems and not so nice ones too. Great vid!
Hey Steve, completely agree with your take on Godin. The only guitar they’ve produced that everyone seems to know about is the S6, which I think is their mid range of guitars on the Seagull side. I didn’t know they had an overseas manufacturing process, so appreciate that insight. Great comment and really appreciate the view and conversation, brother man. Don’t be a stranger 👍🏻
Good, first one on here.....I got whaT your message about this guitar, snowing here now... but you mentioned sweetwater.
Two guitar got from them...first one I bought and the 2nd one was sent to me to replace the one I bought. Both guitars had the same problem and had to send them back...action was so high that the saddle would have been down to nothing if I had it repaired. Sent them pictures. Waited almost two months and got two defective guitars, they were both the epiphone hummingbird models, studio models. Too bad. I'll just move on to another brand. Ps...your vid was super, ty
Thanks Rafael, I’ll be letting my connection at Sweetwater know about this. Do you mind if I share your name with them? I don’t want to be presumptuous, but they have always been so responsive to me that I believe they should loudly hear about this, brother man. As always, I really appreciate the honest feedback and your continued support 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Sure, that would be A OK with me!
@@rafaelcuadra5009 Just sent my guy the email. Let's see where it goes 👍
@@randysrhythm super! many thanks, I,ll keep you in the loop!!!
Hey Randy . . . . not a bad $165.00 spent. 👍🏻
I have a 'sacrificial' guitar also. I love playing outdoors.
God bless Mate. ✌
Thanks, brother man. Right backatcha 👍
Bravo 👏🏻! Perfectly Awesome! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
Thanks Juan
Very nice and very interesting sharing good job
Thank you very much 👍🏻
Wonderful musik presentation!👏😀🔥🔥
Thank you very much 👍🏻
Love your video's!
It’s a shame there’s not 2 of you! Thank you, Ms Brooke 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm idk about that Randy. 😆
Great sharing! keep it up with your content! stay in touch with you!
Thank you! I will surely try, brother man 👍🏻
I own one of these and I'd put it up against Gibson J45, Taylor and Martin any day of the week.
They are great little guitars, Richard. This one surprised me, for $165.00 👍🏻
😆 🤣 guitar, cool man
Hey Bowstar, much appreciated, brother man 👍
Sounds OK to me. I had one with inbuilt pickup. Played lovely live. No problems with neck...no lifting of the bridge. Just got to lookafter it.
Hi Pip, I think the Godin family pay attention when they build their guitars. I agree with you, for what it is, it’s a real value 👍🏻
