This is a great playing and sounding guitar. I bought a used one...with the tags on it...in a Gator hard shell case for 200 bucks! It's better than my $1200.00 Taylor. I love this thing...

I still can't believe how great it sounds for the price. I don't have a proper setup to record it so the video doesn't do it justice! I can't recommend these guitars enough.

Yes, Seagull are made by Godin guitars in La Patrie, Quebec,Canada and you are also correct in that they source all timbers from Canada.
Played an S6 in a guitar store back in the early eighties, back home in New Zealand and feel in love with it. couldn't afford it at the time but vowed in would one day own one.
Bought the mini jumbo, solid cedar top, a couple of years back (cheap ) but still think the S6, sitka spruce, is the one to own.

just bought this as a replacement for my 11 years old yamaha c80.
she sounds great and the neck is comfortable.
my complains are only about the internal wood looking chipped and a very strong bad smell of glue rather than the amazing wood smell in other guitars.

It's funny how you mentioned playing guitar for so long and how you just now want to get much better at it. I'm in the exact same boat! lol I started playing about 15 years ago and I consider myself a higher intermediate player I can learn songs pretty quick and hold my own but i've had that recent bug too where I suddenly want to just get so much better and I've started playing everyday and researching how to improve my skills. I came to this video because I picked up the Seagul guitar at a local guitar center and it has not left my mind months later. I tried a lot of different acoustic guitars and much more expensive ones but for some reason I still think about this guitar! I'm glad you like it and maybe I'll get one of my own soon. Good luck on your guitar journey and I hope to see more videos 🤘

    • @noxmusic6760
      @noxmusic6760  6 лет назад

Evan Barrieau I also find that learning songs is pretty easy and even copying some tougher solos. I would really like to understand what I'm playing. Music theory has always been off puting until recently haha!

Definitely have this guitar pegged as my final pure acoustic purchase in the not-too-distant future. My current Yamaha FG820L is serving me well in the meantime from a purely tutorial standpoint, but the moment I finally feel comfortable enough to take on finger-picking it will be the S6 Original I'm going with. The specific way it was built and the choice materials used (solid cedar top, maple neck, laminated cherry back and sides, Tusq nut/saddle) all point to it being used just for that very purpose. Incredible guitar for its listed price point...

I bought an old scratched up scuffed up S6 for $200, not sure of the year but 30+ years old. I got it as a "beater", I don't like to take my $7,000 Gibson JB Custom out of the house. I now prefer the S6 and I'm selling the Gibson... it feels good in my hands, it plays perfectly, and it sounds fantastic. Seagulls are greatly underappreciated.

I already have my 2012 s6 cedar. Never need anything else!😊 All these other expensive guitars, you are paying for the script on the headstock. Seagulls are made in a tiny little village in Quebec, with locally sourced wood. At least when I bought mine, I took it into the "big money guitar" room at guitar center and played it along with the martins and gibsons- left with the s6 feeling i just got away with robbery😂
The seagull sounded so much better to my ears, I laughed all the way home.

I bought one of these guitars three days ago and you cannot beat the price for a entry-level guitar, it is well built and really projects the sound and the playability is great, the woods they use to build the S6 Seagull are locally sourced from what I read which brings the price down a lot.

I had a Taylor big baby and I felt the same way about it. I liked the sound of it in the store but, over time I realized it sounded thin and I didn’t really enjoy it. Probably due to the lack of bracing. I have a Breedlove now, which sounds fantastic. I’m thinking about picking up a Seagull as well.

Great guitar. After researching acoustics online, this model kept popping up as highly rated. I went to Guitar Center to check out a new one and found a used one in mint condition with the same finish. Fell in love, but when I came back to buy it less than 24 hours later, it was gone. I ended up buying a new one. Love it, and it was perfectly set up straight out of the box. The new ones have a dark stain on the sides and back, that's the only thing I don't like. Still heartbroken about that used one.

Same path here man - i had a baby taylor and it did NOT inspire me to play nor did the taylor 214ce - though a great guitar - ( only guitar that inspired me to play -1988 ovation balladeer - it cracked - sad face :)
So i took my taylor to the store today to trade in
    Contestants :
    Takamine $599 model
    Taylor GS mini koa
Martin single x series 0 mahogony
    Martin GP x series
    Seagull S6
    Oscar schmidt blue faded
Final 2 contestants after 3 hours of back to back playing
Martin x series GP- great comfort and playability
    Seagull S6 - magnificent sound
I asked to have the action lowered on seagull - i walked out with it
Happy with my purchase - also all guitars listed above were lefthanded

Hello good day. I have a Seagull S6, it's great but I have a question that worries me.
My fear is that you run out of battery when I have it plugged into an amplifier.
It turns on a green light, which I interpret is that it has a battery, but I do not know when
I have to change it and I'm afraid that in the middle of a concert the guitar will stop
    playing on the amplifier.
Thank you very much in advance for the response.

Take it to your local music shop and have it "set-up". If your local music does not have someone to do set-ups, find one that does. A set-up, provided your guitar does not have damage or other problems, averages $45-50 + cost of strings.
