One of the things im coming to love about the lore about path of exile is that even though people are villians, they have a human aspect to them, like how Malichai didnt want to harm dialla. Small details of humanity in villian characters make them so much more dynamic and intersting. Thanks so much for doing this series! Ive always skipped all dialog in the game and would have never had experienced it without these vids!
You did a really good job on this one, I think its my personal favorite so far. I find anything having to do with the origins of Thaumaturgy or Malachais relationship with Nightmare to be really interesting. Also its a nostalgia trip since Act 4 was the final act for such a long time. Really well done. 10/10
After playing this game for years, I made a new character to specifically try to learn the story better. Man, it's complicated. Your videos are invaluable! Thank you!
Watching through this on my third playthrough and it's explaining a lot. I found the story too dense on my first go, so it's one of the few games I've played where I've ignored the story. Thank you kindly, I'll enjoying going through all the Lore videos for PoE. And you have a lovely voice to listen to.
I strongly believe that the rapture device did not required Dialla's sacrifice in order to be used, however I think that Malachai using it without a Gemling Queen was the reason for the Cataclysm. With this I mean that if Dialla agreed to her sacrifice for the first use of the rapture device, maybe the cataclysm wouldn't happened.
Subbed, because this is a really well done series, can't wait for the rest. I've been playing PoE since it came out and still had no real idea about the lore.
Your work is freaking amazing, it's incredible to see the amount of work and details you put into these videos, just want to say thanks and your work is appreciated
I'm so glad people like them! My stream asked me to do a lore playthrough a while ago since I was the type to play the game and never stop to read any text. I know a lot of people did the same so it's been a really fun project and I'm so glad people are enjoying them!
11:40 - Wait-wait-wait... Isn't it the grand arena of THEOPOLIS, the capital of Oriath and not the Eternal Empire with it's capital of Sarn? P.S: Btw, found your channel ~4 days ago and 2 days ago GGG released an interview with you, that's really... interesting and cool at the same time. P.S(2): Once I've tried to made a lore walkthrough (my high baritone voice is too bad for videos without gameplay, I guess). It was... bad. In 2018 my lore understaning were based only on my own expierence (I like listen dialogues and read notes), my videos were bad (even after 6 years on RUclips it still poor, haha), my build was awful, so... yeah. Thanks you for complete lore series, I'll watch them all since I've already heard some interesting information, which I do not know. Yet, I still posting some videos (for russian audience if it's about lore) with all possible notes in the library or all Oni-Goroshi's voice lines. P.S(3): Can't wait to start watch Labyrinth lore with Izaro (one of the best stories I've read), greately voiced by Michael Herst.
I suspect that might be exactly the case! He was on a (fruitless) mission to find that cure and Malachai was likely able to access his dreams and manipulate his "desire" (like Kaom's "fury") to think coming to the mountain, he might find a cure
After 3.0 I think the Beast made the gods dream, and when Kaom and Daresso died, they were about to ascend to godhood, by the sacrifice of the 500 warrriors or the deaths and devotion from the Arena. Instead of being reborn as gods, they were trapped inside the Beast's dream (now a Nightmare afther the Vaal and Malachai tampered with it). If this is makes sense, it also makes sense that the voice that Kaom heard was really Tukohama calling to have another god in the Pantheon
That's a really interesting theory! I'm not sure i agree but I really like the idea of it. I personally think Kaom and Daresso were corrupted by the Beasts nightmare and lured there somehow, but this definitely made me think! thank you!
I've been paying attention when I played POE but its still very nice to see a much more detailed and organized retelling of the story. What I am very peeved about however, is the league lore. They are even more scattered, yet because it's POE and it has excellent writing, I am very unhappy about not having access to it because some are locked in high difficulty content, plus I may or may not abandoned POE a few times in between, making my understanding of league lore even more fragmented. Do you ever plan on making league lore videos?
Thank you for doing this . Party sure people at GGG even don't know the lore to this detail lol . Also you the only one on RUclips doing this. Thanks a ton !
"keeps his organs was a sentimental mistake". Uhhh, YOU said the organs were kept so he wouldn't be completely consumed by nightmare, seems more like a smart decision than a mistake.
He wanted to have his cake and eat it too; to control and be part of the Nightmare but not fully. So while it kept him tethered to the world it also made him mortal. So yeah if he wanted to actually control Nightmare, shoulda just gone full risky biscuit, cause now he's dead
Who would have thought gems would be so dangerous yet helpful. Heh. I do appreciate the knowledge uwu Wonder why that one guy wasn't happy about the beast being killed. I know I would :3
I didn't expect this Doedre pronounciation haha. In French, we have "œ" which I guess is close to "Deux"(two) if you pronouce it in english ? So I always pronounced Doedre as Deudre.
I'm really enjoying this series but I have to say you butchering the pronunciations of a lot of the words is strange given how the majority of them are spoken in game. They are weird words/names for sure and without the voice acting in the game we would all struggle to know their proper pronunciation.

"A witch called döädre" I love that pronunciation XD

At this point in the game, I kinda gave up on the story completely so I'm learning a ton and I love it 10/10 great job! I can't wait to see Act 5
After playing this game for years, I made a new character to specifically try to learn the story better. Man, it's complicated. Your videos are invaluable! Thank you!
Haha, I almost choked when you tried to say 'Doedre' :D
I just say it like Hargan, he has my favorite pronunciation

I'm having fun speeding through the acts then watching the lore video afterwards. This act was so fun, what a cool story so far

Really thank you for taking the time to chronicle the lore for this game it is greatly appreciated!
thanks you so much for all of these! you did such an amazing job and put a tremendous amount of work and effort into this :D

2:25 so I guess the faraduin are a new lore piece since they are what the discarded children of the maraketh become if they get picked up by them.

Maybe Daresso was lured to the Mines by Malachai, just as Malachai did with Kaom. Daresso was with the desire to 'cure' Merveil.
I suspect that might be exactly the case! He was on a (fruitless) mission to find that cure and Malachai was likely able to access his dreams and manipulate his "desire" (like Kaom's "fury") to think coming to the mountain, he might find a cure
No wonder Doedre came back to fight us again, you slaugthered her name! :D
This is really good! can't wait for you to finish the series!!

Thank you for great work on these lore videos!
Voll's confessions sounds like a good preatorian guard talking about his captain
Good job I love your detailed explanations. Hope to see more act and other lore in POE
thank you so much for such brilliant Lore video
Another fantastic episode Noodle!
i love malachai's voicelines

Yes! I wont be able to do it during a league but they will be done after I've finished acts 1-10 (and probably a few other videos like lab)
Amazing series, thanks for making!
Thanks for these lore videos :)
Thanks for doing this! i play poe since open beta but doesnt know anything about the lore.
Another great video! Thanks!
Thank you for doing this . Party sure people at GGG even don't know the lore to this detail lol . Also you the only one on RUclips doing this. Thanks a ton !

Poor Voll, he truly loved his country, but in his naivety made it worse
Im loving these lore videos so much. I can wait for the next one. I watch alot of youtube but these are the only videos Im truly excited to see. ^_^
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO AMAZING ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!
Nice work
Great videos thanks you
"Doedre" :D
Brilliant!
I never noticed before that Deshret was held by a spectral hand. Where is my Breach?
My cat's name is Noodles! Also I love the Lore for this game, I use it in my DND campaign haha
That's such a good idea!! And a cat named Noodles? I love it
I've got more insight now! Thanks!
I am behind. I should be a patron
The corrupt shall fall!
Who would have thought gems would be so dangerous yet helpful. Heh.
I do appreciate the knowledge uwu
Wonder why that one guy wasn't happy about the beast being killed. I know I would :3
We talk about that in Act 5! Tasuni is a very strange character. Even after all my research I still dont know how to feel about him!
*pog* been waiting for this!
Yeah appreciate the game more now
good video but i think it would ve been better to let kaom do the talking on those carvings.
I didn't expect this Doedre pronounciation haha. In French, we have "œ" which I guess is close to "Deux"(two) if you pronouce it in english ? So I always pronounced Doedre as Deudre.
I could be wrong, but I believe it's pronounced "Dee-dra".
its "Skurrj"
HELL YEAHHHH
Am I the only one who thinks croutons kind of taste like stale garlic bread?
Nacho Filament bruh what if they are garlic bread croutons?
I think it's pronounced Doedre, not Doedre.
Anyways great video series for me to watch now that I finished the acts
