Love this channel bro you're just Soo transparent and real with every topic. Very genuine content I always learn something from you about myself sometimes and about hairstyling. Thanks g
This is helpful man, especially when it comes to telling the barber what you want. They ask me what size on the side sometimes and I have no clue what to say
I just found your channel yesterday and I've watched half a dozen of your videos already - and I'm hooked!! I'm currently doing a community theater production where I've had to grow out my hair and beard for the last 3 months (longest I've EVER gone) and it's almost over, - So I'm seriously trying to decide what's next with my hair and beard. Thanks to you, I'm investing in a good blow dryer, some good brushes, and I know how best to proceed in selecting a stylist, what I should consider for my head shape...and I'm actually really looking forward to my an upgrade to my look! ***also, anyone offended by your candor is a fool; and anyone taking cheap shots at your hair, looks, etc. is an ass!!***
I didn’t think it came across as jerky at all. It’s common sense to take care of your stylist so they can take care of you! Btw Andrew, can we contact you for online consultations during this time? I have a load of questions and would be happy to pay your rate for an online one-on-one.
I love when people make that comment "Well, the client can't style it like that at home" - let me just do a shittier job then. Might as well cut your own hair if that is the line of thinking. With that said, teaching is bar none my favourite part of the haircut and clients are eager to learn.
Hey great vid! Can you please talk about how to find a trustworthy place to cut and style your hair. Obviously I would trust somebody like you, but it’s really hard to tell just based off Google, especially for men. For example I feel a stigma about going to anything with “barbershop” in the name because I feel like they’re just gonna take some clippers to it and call it a day. That’s fine for like my dad, but I want somebody with a little more knowledge if that makes sense. I live in Sacramento if you want to do an example haha, I’d really appreciate the help!
I can’t wait to do a video about that! I’ve been doing polls and questions on Instagram lately trying to find stories about how people found their barbers or stylists, just so I can sort through the data and share more than just my own limited opinion (which is basically to sit at the mall until you see cool hair, then awkwardly ask where they had it cut).
andrewdoeshair Haha awesome I reaaally look forward to that. I have an infinite supply of questions for you... is the best place to ask in the RUclips comments? Or do you prefer IG DMs? Or something else?
Love your channel and this was great information. Only one i not necessarily have an issue with but wanted to bring up a point was the running late but the other way around I’ve had it to where i have an appointment and barber is running late and doe not text or email a heads up. Like you mentioned some barbers book every half hour knowing that it takes longer than that for a haircut i just think the respect for people’s time should go both ways. Thanks and keep it up with the great content!!
Can I just ask something? (and I hope you don't get me wrong) The 40$ you mentioned when talking about clients not showing up and how much it cost you, is that what you charge a guy for a haircut? If so I'm just surprised. Never heard of a stylist charging that amount, but then I'm living in Germany and maybe everything is totally different over here.
I charge $100, but I work in a high end salon in a nice area, and the demand requires a higher price to keep appointments available. There's a lot of factors that go into it, but ultimately it's supply and demand.
& clients, please stop insulting ur barber by saying... "the difference between a good haircut & a bad haircut is 2 weeks" ...NO, NO, NO! ...no, the difference between a good haircut & a bad haircut is usually a good barber & to insinuate otherwise is a disrespectful slap in the face of any hard workin barber who has spent time & money, beyond what most clients can not fathom, to build our hone our craft in order to give u a quality haircut! thanx andrew
