It's been some time since we were there, I'd love to go back. Not sure much has changed, other than craving some steak. I'd love to do the 72oz steak challenge, but I think I would end up having to pay. I don't think I could finish it in an hour.
We really enjoyed our time in Amarillo. We hope to one day travel down to Palo Duro Canyon, the next time we’re in the area. There was a few touristy things we missed along Route 66 because of time so one of these days we’ll go back. Thanks for watching.
Congrats! Can you get the steak any way you like it during the steak challenge? How long did it take you? I thought about doing it, but I know I would probably need to stay in Amarillo for the night afterwards lol
This place was amazing. I can't wait to go back one day since I've gained confidence/experience with the camera. The food was great as well. So much here to do and see.
I debated about it. I knew I would fail it but having the experience of doing it would have been something to remember. I was honestly afraid of getting sick. We still didn't have a room for the night and was wanting to get a little further toward Shamrock Texas. Long way in between bathrooms if I needed one. lol
Food looks so good. I want to eat there so bad. I was dissapointed when i passed it knowing i was on the wromg road. I wish i could do their free food challenge but a lot of the food with it i just dont eat.
I really debated about it. I didn't want her to sit by herself while I was in front of everyone else. Plus after eating all those Rocky Mountain Oysters and half my steak and everything else and a roll, I was stuffed. I would have failed and had to pay I think 80some dollars for the meal. We took the rest of our food with us to the hotel and snacked on it the rest of the evening. This was definitely one of our favorite stops along Route 66. We found it great that the musicians were playing Country Roads for some other people there. So it was like a little bit of home was with us.
Food was great and so was the service. This place was huge inside and something for everyone. You'll put anything in your mouth, gross. That plane was too close for comfort. Wow hope it was worth your $1, cheap date lol.
You should try them lol You act like that was my first rodeo lol - I recall Doc Holliday's Saloon in Glenwood Springs. Hey Zoltar still owes me for San Antonio lol
I'll put myself on there once in a while if I'm doing something or interacting with something. I usually try and show the area more than the people to get people to explore the US a little.
@@TheMadNomadder I'm visiting from out of state too. But I did have a $12 steak at a casino in Oklahoma that tasted a helluva lost better than the steak I payed $80 for at The Big Texan.
Molly Schuyler did it in 4 1/2 minutes. But that's just insane. Randy Santel did it in 20 minutes. But he's a professional. Doing it in 30 minutes for the average guy is at the least conceivable. In my father's younger and more reckless days, I think he would have liked to have given this a try.
That is unbelievable that someone could do that in 4 and a half minutes. Props to Molly for pulling that off! I may be able to finish it in the time allotted, but I guarantee you I would have to go right back to the hotel afterwards. I think I would be miserable and would just want to lay down for a couple days. I don't know if I've ever eaten that much food in 2 days time lol Thats a lot of steak.
@@TheMadNomadder Well, obviously, those are the extremes. 🤔 If you want the mathematics, about 1 out of 8 people who try it are able to pull it off. 🤔 End results can vary. I've heard of people who won it, but said how stupid it was. 🤮 And I've heard of people who did it and said: "That was fun. Now what's for dessert?" 😃
The public is invited love that theme because Texas is a place where anybody can go
Ate there with my dad and cousins years back. Amazing steak and meal.

Watching this video really makes me miss living in Amarillo. I grew up in the Texas Panhandle. Sure brings back memories.

I don't miss the cold winters, the snow and ice that would give Minnesota a run for its money. Moved to Austin in 2006 for it's very mild winters.
Tim that's funny. Actually my picture is on the wall of one of the Big Texan steak houses. For eating the 72oz steak.

@@TheMadNomadder they cook it to order. It took me just under 45 minutes

@@TheMadNomadder I’m so glad y’all enjoyed what my hometown is famous for
The wait to get a table is pretty big for something no better then Texas Roadhouse and more expensive
I ate there back in 2013. I didn’t do the challenge but I had a steak dinner and it was so good! Wow I miss that place!
I agree. We loved the food, the atmosphere, and I wasnt expecting all the other parts of the Big Texan. We would love to go back some day.
The bathroom hall scared me to all hell
I thought it was just a a big place to eat, didnt know they had all of the extra stuff. Surprised me.
I thought you were going to do the challenge! Dang! Well Done My Friends!

Saw this on Conan and this was first video on RUclips
The restaurant was a lot bigger than I expected. Food was pretty good too.

I wanted to see you eat that 72 oz steak
I would have to starve myself for a week. I think I got a 20 oz and I only finished half. I'd like to try it once just to experience doing it there.
Worst steak I've ever had.
I'm sorry that your experience was less than stellar. Have any steak places you would recommend next time we're in Texas?
