Hi Steve. Thank you for the kind words. Funnily enough, I'm going to get some fish and chips tomorrow so you will see that upload very soon! Thanks for watching!
Just watched this a second time. I could almost smell the dinner. Have to say our family many years ago always enjoyed a lamb roast dinner every Sunday. How age changes life. My children scattered world wide and my darling husband of 60 years has passed. I loved cooking but find this so interesting. Thank you Gary.
Hello Gary, I'm from Germany. I like to watch your videos because I would also like to visit England/London one day. It's good to know where to eat. Thanks, keep it up!
When I was a kid I lived in the wild country side of Rutland. We used to go foraging in the hedgerows digging up horseradish roots because the landlord of our local pub used to make horseradish sauce and he used to give us a pot full to take home. Stay well and stay safe
Great looking food and well reviewed. If it was me, one small adition for the meal at £17.50, would be a small jug of gravy. There was a good portion of gravy on the meal but I do like a little bit of Sunday roast with my gravy 😂.
Hi Steve. Thank you. I will be coming up north very very soon, it's in the plan over the next few weeks but as I don't do this full-time - it can be difficult to find the time. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a lovely roast beef I could hear the cracking of the roast potatoes when you cut into them the only thing I would say Gary is I'm not a fan of green beans sometimes they can be bland but that's just personal preference I must say also what a great building full of character for me looks like a 9/10
Hi Gary another great clip at a great location, im going to have to give them a 10, because as soon as the clip started the look alone did it for me, also the effort they made adding wine to the cabbage, and Rosemary on the potatoes shows how much pride they take. Chris.
Another great review, Gary. Been there and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the beef and the roasties, had to order an extra portion of those. And with a few pints, it was a very nice experience.
Looked delicious 😋 I think I maybe would have liked a little jug of extra gravy so you could pour it on the Yorkshire pud yourself. There is always the obligatory carrots on a roast dinner, I guess they are popular but maybe to add colour. It looked fantastic
Haven’t looked at video yet. Last time I was there someone threw a beer barrel through the window. Obviously times have changed. That was 30 years ago!! Going to enjoy video now
Just come across your videos on RUclips so I started watching them…. I live just behind the Black lion pub in Kilburn but I have never been in there 😊 I think I might pop in there soon for a Sunday lunch now that I have just watched your video in there…. Keep up the good work, I will subscribe to your channel now…. All the best ….☮️ & ❤️
Thank you very much. Please give it a try. Stunning pub and lovely food to go with it, staff are also very friendly. Let them know you saw the video. Thanks for watching!
Hello Gary, well knock me down with a feather!😮 If I'd known you were in my part of town, the drinks would have been on me😊 I live about 10mins slow walk away😊 And do you know what?? I've never been in the "Black Lion "😢( to be rectified ASAP😊) Again, the gravy issue, that apart. The only thing missing was the Navy Lark or Billy Cotton on the wireless ( now that shows my age😅) I did think the camera person was just about to receive his lunch, then you sent your server away 😮Keep 'em coming A very good watch, & so local for me & mine, thanks Allan&Family ❤
Hello again Allan. We will get drinks definitely soon for sure next time I'm in the area, I'll pay given you've been a big support to the channel haha! Recommend the Black Lion massively, you would really enjoy it. No piling of food either. The cameraman wasn't happy after that I sent it away. Thanks for watching as always!
Just had the sirloin Gary. Tip top stuff 4 sure! Tkx 4 the tip. Try the 1 at The Swam in Lancaster Gate. Very similar, the meat being the star. I also used 2 live in Willesden Grn many years ago, so beautiful memories! Best wishes 🤗👍!
Nearly forgot Gary! I asked the staff to bring the gravy in a little boat. Got the tip from Jamie Oliver and there’s no experience like it! I poured the gravy into the Yorkshire pudding bit by bit and believe me! You must try it! It tastes completely different. Give it a go, Absolutely divine!!! Looking forward to more 🎥s 🤗👍
Super ideo again Gary. Great to see local pubs and eateries really upping their game and what you received seemed very well priced. What a location too.
Your channel popped up in my suggestions front page! The algorithm must be kicking in! Great down to earth reviews with no fancy graphics and continuous annoying youtube license free music. You come across as a guy it would be great to share a pint and chinwag with. Subscribed! I used to live near this pub some 20 odd years ago but never went in. Will give it a visit next time I'm near.
Great pub amongst some tough competition on Kilburn high road, I defo need to go back for the food next time I'm in the area. Love the décor and atmosphere in there, especially in winter when they have the fireplace working!
Loooks a delicious dinner, I would have preferred green cabbage instead of beans and would have loved some stuffing, other then that a good dinner, I enjoy your videos..
🇦🇺😋 lovey food ,i expect rhe British to have a roast meal down to a fine art .10 for me .lucky sitting out side had no flys for you in summer not like Australia lol
That pub looked spectacular on the inside. The roast looked good, although I would have preferred different veggies. But as long as the execution is top, you cannot fault the chef for his or her choices. I wonder if they alternate veggies with the season.
Gary - firstly well done on the traction on the channel over the last 48hrs. The Harrods review has certainly given you a big uplift in views and subscribers - well done and greatly deserved!! Secondly - I used to work in Kilburn in the late 90's and drove past this pub daily, was a big Irish pub back then so not sure if its the same nowadays but I can only assume with the way London has changed that it probably isn't. As for the meal, well I'm not really a Sunday roast lover so I can take them or leave them tbh, but the roast potatoes looked really nice, veggies are veggies and the beef didn't look as great as it tasted but I wasn't eating it so will refrain from giving my own score but will say if it had stuffing and cranberry cooked into the gravy then it would have probably been as high as yours. The pub interior was stunning - rare you see one like that down sarf nowadays.
Hi Joe. One of the early originals! Thank you so much. Usually I prefer my beef medium rare but I will say the taste of this one was excellent therefore I didn't mind. The pub was beautiful, one of the nicest I've been in. Thanks for watching!
Ahh.. Sunday Roast. The traditional feast you spend all week craving. Yorkie looked amazing. Meat looked medium well, but if its tender and makes you swoon.. champion. Only negative for me, was not enough gravy.. those yorkies needed a gravy boat.😍 Thank you Gary. Very cool!
Probably one of my favourite meals to have. Yes, a lot of people have commented about the lack of gravy... hopefully more on my next Roast Dinner video! Thank you always for watching and commenting :)
Another good review...I will have to try here when visiting my sister near Wembley...I really enjoy your style of presentation keep up the good work...
As usual Gary ,great presentation and commentary . Honest assessment of food and breakdown of the bill . Will definitely check out some of the venues if in the area.
Looked nice not sure about the French beans for me a traditional roast should always have traditional British veggies on it puree carrots and swede and cauliflower cheese .
Will try to get in this Sunday looked very nice. The best roast iv had out in the past 6 months was in the Marquis of Westminster . Just off Warwick way Pimlico. Well worth a try yourselves.
Morning Gary Sunday lunch looks ok but I am not mad on red cabbage, its ok but rather do without! would prefer cauliflower cheese Yorkie looks good.was the meal hot? Nice looking Pub.
Gary remember you said you love your Indian food, well there’s a restaurant in bushey called the Sonargson Indian restaurant food is amazing could do with a review if your around that way
My grandmother always made the Yorkshire pudding. I loved it as a kid . However her gravy was always like water . I can’t really sing a place in NZ that serves the pudding but maybe I am not looking hard enough
You stated it the wrong way round Gary, the Wellington is for vegetarians and the Nut Roast is for vegans. :) Nice to know there is this option on the Sunday menu as well as red cabbage. Thanks for the review. PS How about reviewing The Black Friar's Pub in Queen Victoria Street?
Why on earth did the waitress bring two meals to a table for one who already had his meal , I think she wanted to get on your camera, the food looked good I think people are blown away at first with the Yorkshire it makes them oblivious to the rest of the meal, but it turned out to be enjoyable.you scored correct.Sheila & Patrick.
Great vlog, a tad expensive ,especially with this automatic tipping, which a lot of places are doing now, food looked ok, could have done with a bit more veg and gravy, drinks probably pricy , that’s how it is these days.
Hi Gary. Looked good. My only bug bear is why don't establiments try and do something to lift the carrots rather than have the big lumps seen on the plate. I cook mine in sliced into matchsticks and cooked in water and butter, It makes such a difference. I'd even pay the extra to enable this to be done. I think it was a bit harsh you docking half a point because the beef was not to your liking especially as you didn't actually specify how you liked it cooked. The beef joint I assume was cooked to the average taste. Not practical to cook to order. Again harsh to reduct for this. I would erge you to try and be a bit pragmatic in the future on this point. That being said I think I would score it 8.5/10. Just something about it that failed to elevate it above other Sunday Lunches across the land. Think the price point was probably about right for London.
Hi John. They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked, I get the feeling that medium rare was not an option as it was cooked to order hence why I knocked off a point. I think it's always good to be given an option to how you want your beef cooked but each to their own. I agree with your last point, it was a great roast but I've had better!
@@GaryEats not so much these days. My wife is vegetarian and she doesn’t have that much of an issue with good veggie choices these days, 10/15 years ago was another story. This is why I shake my head when I see a nut roast on the menu. Nothing wrong with a nut roast mind, but it does stink of a “token gesture” veggie option given the history of choices vegetarians used to have in restaurants.
i like the rocket speed your channel is growing lol. Go find some insane fish and chips Gary! A London street food tour would be quality too!
Hi Steve. Thank you for the kind words. Funnily enough, I'm going to get some fish and chips tomorrow so you will see that upload very soon! Thanks for watching!

Hello Germany! Thank you for watching - you will love London. Have a good evening.
I would love to visit that pub some day. The inside lioks like a work of art and food looked great as well.
You should!
When I was a kid I lived in the wild country side of Rutland. We used to go foraging in the hedgerows digging up horseradish roots because the landlord of our local pub used to make horseradish sauce and he used to give us a pot full to take home. Stay well and stay safe
Love horseradish. You too my friend.
Looks home cooked rather than a pub meal - lovely looking venue!
Incredibly good venue. Thanks for watching!
Your manner and politeness is refreshing. We all could learn from you 😊😊😊
Thank you! 😃 That's a very kind comment. Hope you've enjoyed watching.
So true

Great looking food and well reviewed. If it was me, one small adition for the meal at £17.50, would be a small jug of gravy. There was a good portion of gravy on the meal but I do like a little bit of Sunday roast with my gravy 😂.
I love my gravy too so I don't blame you. Thanks for watching!
Same, I like a roast dinner with my gravy and pepper.
Nice interior, delicious Sunday Roast and fair price. The Black Lion pub rules.
Fantastic pub 💯💯
Another great review Gary but I think it is time for you to come up north and see what delights we have up here 😮
Hi Steve. Thank you. I will be coming up north very very soon, it's in the plan over the next few weeks but as I don't do this full-time - it can be difficult to find the time. Thanks for watching!

Lovely pub. That's fair enough Martin. Each to their own. Hope you enjoyed the video.
Yeah they need a bit of butter, seasoning & mixed herbs chucked in just before serving. (Especially Runner Beans)
Hi Gary another great clip at a great location, im going to have to give them a 10, because as soon as the clip started the look alone did it for me, also the effort they made adding wine to the cabbage, and Rosemary on the potatoes shows how much pride they take.

Lovely pub as well. All round good place to go!
Food looks nice. I wouldn't be happy that they added a 15% "tip" to the bill as a tip should always be optional imo.
I can agree with that. Glad you liked the look of the food!
Looked delicious 😋 I think I maybe would have liked a little jug of extra gravy so you could pour it on the Yorkshire pud yourself. There is always the obligatory carrots on a roast dinner, I guess they are popular but maybe to add colour. It looked fantastic

Yeah, got that part wrong. I prefer it medium rare but the meat was very good regardless so I didn't mind. Thanks for watching!

Great review and the pub looks a must winter or summer. Question is, did you have room for dessert? You left us hanging!
Thank you Sally. No room for dessert unfortunately, well too full. Sorry, maybe next time!
£17.50 seems a bit steep…. That beef reminded me of the boil in the bag stuff I used to eat when I was a nipper!!
A bit steep if ya lived in Ulan Bator, 7909. I'd expect to pay that in the "smoke". ( Prob be a tenner "ap nowth" )
That's not expensive for London it's very fair
