Dr Mindy Pelz says not to fast the week before your period. Look her up she has a book called fast like a girl. It has changed my life. Having PCOS I tried everything to lose weight with no success, but intermittent fasting has changed all that. It did take time to get used to fasting but once I did the weight came off and is staying off.
This is so accurate! Intermittent Fasting made me feel so crappy, low on energy and I ended up missing my periods! It's a great thing if it suits you, but if it doesn't, it will wreck havoc on your body!
I don’t have PCOS but I do have high cortisol, adrenal fatigue and insulin resistance due to years of chronic stress. I’ve learned so much from your content and this makes so much sense as to why I’ve always felt awful when I intermittent fast for longer than 12hrs and I wasn’t loosing any weight.
I don’t eat after 7pm and don’t eat breakfast until around 9am and I feel so much better, it’s not for everyone but I sleep much better and I feel less sluggish throughout the day
I sometimes prolong fast but I do it the way Dr. Mindy Pelz says to do it. It’s about where you’re at in your cycle. So right after bleeding up until your ovulation period you can open fast for as long as you want as long as you’re supplementing with vitamins and a BUNCH of water, teas, apple cider vinegar, etc. after that first 2 weeks, during your ovulatory period you can fast from 16-18 hours. In your luteal, do not fast longer than 12-13 hours because that impacts progesterone and progesterone is much more sensitive than estrogen. Your science on this is spot on! Keep it up! Love the channel 🫶🏻
i felt so horrible doing IF 😭 definitely not for everyone. i had no energy to do anything, had the worst brain fog… even thinking about that period that i tried to force myself to make it work makes me feel sick. i also gained weight during that period…
Thank u I've heard mixed reviews. I lost weight....by fasting. Honestly I feel I tried everything?I fasted in prayer n lost weight. I was so thankful to God,that I?wasn't fasting for weight-loss n still lost weight.
Nice to know. The first time I started the intermittent fasting regime, i actually gained 10kgs. I thought I was the failure until I learnt to intermittent fast without a static schedule. Just go the longest possible time without eating based on how relaxed I am on this aspect. I noticed that the fast period varied a lot depending on the period of the month, the amount of fulfilling activity I am doing. I went as long as 3 days long once. Part of the reason it was more successful was the insurance that I would eat when I feel hungry enough, not when it is the exact time to break the fast based on the IF regime. It starts in the mind.
As corny as it sounds, I listen to my body, some days I benifit from intermittent fasting. Other days it is just not practical to me and I need to eat. That being said, it also depends on what I put into my body when I do eat.

To feel good fasting, you need to change from burning glucose to burning ketones. Otherwise you will feel fatigued and not great. If you are even slight ketosis….your body will be using ketones and you will no longer feel like crap when you fast. You have to first change your bodies fuel source. Fasting is likely hugely beneficial to PCOS. It’s highly beneficial for diabetes which is also a condition closely related to insulin issues.
