I’m so happy you made this video, your timing is perfect!! I have a couple of weeks off from work for the holidays and I decided I want to use this time to dive into epic fantasy series that I’ve wanted to read all year, but have been intimidated by (aka The Cosmere). Your love of these books really came through too so thank you! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to get lost in the Cosmere✌🏽😂
I usually recommend those who want to read Brandon Sanderson in general are his non cosmere books. I read Skyward as my intro book and it’s my top 3 series of all time! It’s give them an idea of his writing and story telling.
I'm so happy I stumbled on your video! I just started reading Mistborn and loving every word! Brandon Sanderson is a fantastic writer. I can't wait to get into the Stormlight Archive. I first picked up Way of Kings at the bookstore a couple of years ago and put it back, because it's such a massive and intimidating book lol, that said after reading Mistborn I'm hooked on him, he's such a great story teller. Thanks so much for making this video, found it super helpful ❤
Right 😅 I started this month, finally. Mistborn trilogy is smaller, and a little easier to approach. Don't look at the whole Cosmere (it's scary), pick one of the main ones, and then just pick and choose which of the side stories interest you. So far, YES there is crossover, but he's a good writer, and he gives you enough context that it still makes sense if you miss something in a different book.
Me too. I found a book club on Fable tackling the Cosmere in 2025, decided that reading and discussing them with others might make it less intimidating 🤞. It's starting with Mistborn
I am totally new to fantasy and want to jump into it with the Cosmere. I think I am going to start with Mistborn and go from there. Thanks for this video and you passion for this universe!
Thanks for this video! The only Sanderson book I’ve read so far is tress of the emerald sea and I loved it. I may also read Yumi and the night painter and then do reading order 1 you described!
Also a couple of the stories in Arcanum Unbounded have Easter eggs in RoW and the Sunlit Man, so I do recommend finishing it before those books. Secret History can be read after Bands of Mourning for extra surprise in that story. But overall pick the order that works for you. I did all of Mistborn up to Lost Metal then Stormlight and then the standalone stories. I definitely missed things, but I’ve also reread everything now, so it all works out.
Mistborn has been very intimidating for me for years, therefore I was put off by the rest of Brandon Sanderson's works. I started Tress just after it was released and was loving it but stopped due to someone saying it could spoil other things in The Cosmere. I think I'm just going to go back and restart Tress and then dive into Mistborn. Wish me luck!
This is such a useful video, thank you!! I was thinking about reading his books but felt like it was daunting, this video is making me excited to try his work 🥰
Recently picked up The Way of Kings after much anticipation. Today while at B&N with my partner I stumbled across Elantris and Warbreaker. I decided to pick up Elantris because the cover was enchanting to me. I'm definitely going back this week and picking up Warbreaker too now that I've watched your video! I am a mega nerd when it comes to SC-FI/Fantasy blended magic systems so I am beyond excited to delve deeper within the Cosmere! Thank you so much for your insight and recommendations. 😄
I love the enthusiasm. You sound like me trying to get my friends to read Jim Butcher. 😂 (so hard when a series gets above 3 books.... 😢). I finally dove in with Sanderson. Great books so far, i love the characters, and how he sprinkles in all these themes, and just leaves us to think on them. The literature nerd in me loves it, i could probably write essays on this stuff. 😅 But it's also fun and entertaining enough that i can still just chill and read it even when my brain is too tired to go study mode.
Interesting take on what he said. I took his speech to mean that we shouldn’t be gatekeeping romantasy fans from fantasy because it is fantasy after all.
The wait is MONTHS long for ebook and physical copy holds at my library for all of his books so I am slowly buying them. ThriftBooks have the mass market paperbacks very inexpensive if you do not mind mass market size otherwise most of the ebooks on Kindle are $9.99 or less

@@AwkwardBookworm read with me! I want to be a Brando girlie so badly. I am slowly taking my time to enjoy the Cosmere starting with Mistborn.

ahhh!! this makes me so happy to hear!!!
There is no wrong order. I usually recommend Mistborn first, but I'm also a fan of published order, which is close to how I read it.
Thanks for this video! The only Sanderson book I’ve read so far is tress of the emerald sea and I loved it. I may also read Yumi and the night painter and then do reading order 1 you described!
so great to hear you enjoyed tress! I have to read it!!
He has another universe called Crytoverse. I absolutely loved the Skyward Series. ❤ I dove into this one when getting back into reading.

Also justice for White Sands! (Or just wait for the prose version to come out).
Thank you for creating this video!!!
I ended up buying all of Sanderson's books before reading any of them😅, but I think I will start with Mistborn (:
YES KARA, THIS IS SO AMAZING AND HELPFUL!!!
2025: The Year of the Cosmere ™️

My husband has also read most of Sanderson and wheel of time. More than once😅
Interesting take on what he said. I took his speech to mean that we shouldn’t be gatekeeping romantasy fans from fantasy because it is fantasy after all.

I want to get into his world so badly but none of this books are on kindle unlimited! 😭😭😭
