Thanks so much for doing this Silvia! I've read the first Mistborn trilogy and have been confused about what to read next. Ive been waiting for someone to tell me the order and lucky for me, you're one of my favourite booktubers so ill definitely read the Cosmere the Unbounded way!
Thank you so much! I have 4 books and the prequel left of the WoT. After, my plan is to start the Cosmere. I was unsure where to start, but the Unbounded Way seems great. I love to get the most info out of each book, and how you described it and put everything together is exactly what I need! Thank you again for all your work on this project! :)
EVERYTHING about this video is incredible! The information, the presentation, the spreadsheet, the editing, the works! Really, really well done! I love your aggressively humble opinion. This is excellent.
Thank you so much, Brian! I really appreciate your kind words! ❤️ Btw, I’ve been watching your Good, bad, ugly video for the past two days (no time to watch it all at once) and it’s amazing!
Please oh please make a spoiler version of this video!! I’ve read everything in the Cosmere multiple times and I can’t remember all of the Easter eggs you hinted about! Excellent video!
It is settled then. The Eleventh Metal. I made the "mistake" of starting with The Way of Kings, but it just made me want to look into the universe and now I'm just glad that there's OH SO MUCH to read. I will read all. of. it. Thanks for the guide! :)
This video comes right on time for me as I am starting my journey with the Cosmere after finishing my current series. I already have purchsed the first Mistborn trilogy and cannot wait to start! This video is hyping me up even more! The unbounded way sounds logical and convincing so I am going to give it a try. Thank you for another very enjoyable video! I loved the editing as well!
This is such an awesome video. Thanks so much for putting together the spreadsheet and making it available to us. I love a good spreadsheet! 🤓 I'm halfway through Sanderson's Skyward series and want to finish that before going to the Cosmere. I had no idea many of his books were connected! I put the Mistborn series on my Christmas list, so if I get it, I might end up bumping that up in my TBR list.
This is great, thank you for putting the spreadsheet together. I only have Wind & Truth to read, but I started my mom reading all of the Cosmere and this will help her to keep everything straight!
Silvia if I ever run out of ideas of what to read, I will follow your unbounded reading order for Sanderson. This is an amazing video for all who love fantasy and will be evergreen!
This is the best video that I’ve seen on the Cosmere. (And we’ve all watched a lot, I’m sure.) It certainly makes me more interested in giving Sanderson another try. I’ve read The Final Empire and then stopped. I didn’t dislike it, but “hard magic” systems aren’t usually my cup of tea. But I’m very interested in the idea of a connected book universe. I own the first two Stormlight books, but haven’t started them.
Thank you so much, this is such a lovely compliment! :) I can understand how Mistborn can leave you a bit dissatisfied if you're not a fan of hard magic systems - this is probably the hardest one I've ever read, and definitely the hardest one Sanderson has ever written. I think you should give him another try though, the other ones are softer (if still on the harder side of the spectrum). I'd be really curious to hear your opinion on them.
Because of you, I've started reading from the Cosmere. I started with and am currently reading Elantris as I was able to get that book. However, I plan to follow your reading plan after Elantris.
Loved the video, loved the spreadsheet, and loved the last screen! 😍 Thank you for all the information - I usually do not care that much about easter eggs but would not like to miss concepts, and this video provided the best info to know what exactly to be careful about with specific books 👏 Currently, I'm in the second half of the Way of Kings and it's really so good - just the way Sanderson currently prepares Dalinar's line for the finish makes me a little bit worried - I think I know what's in store for him but I don't want it to happen 🙈😆 Anyway, if Sanderson would like to make any kind of fun video about Cosmere, he should definitely contact you!!😀
What an amazing spreadsheet. I read the comsere in a pretty close way to your "Unbounded way" the biggest difference is probably when I read Secret History. My reading order was: Final Empire Well of Ascension Hero of Ages 11th Metal Elantris The Hope of Elantris The Emperor's Soul Warbreaker Way of Kings Words of Radiance Shadows for Silence Sixth of the Dusk Alloy of Law Allomancer Jak Shadows of Self Bands of Mourning Secret History white sand vol 1,2,3 Arcanum Unbounded essays Edgedancer Oathbringer Dawnshard Rhythm of War lost Metal Tress Yumi Sunlit
Hmm might this be the start of my 2025 reading plans?! I have wanted to read these for a while but was so daunted but your way sounds like a good option :)
Great video. I am a new subscriber and really enjoy your videos. ❤ I’ve read the mistborn trilogy and have all the other books by Sanderson in my tbr. I’ll definitely consider the unbounded way. 😊
I'm so glad that you made a video about the Cosmere, 'cause I just started my journey with Sanderson. But after watching this, I think I started with the "wrong" book. I only read Tress of the Emerald Sea and I loved it so much, that I am curious about his other books in this universe. Do you think, that I read huge spoilers about other books? And which book do you recommend me to continue with? Just following your guide and starting with The Final Empire or something else? Thank you so much for all of your videos. You are one of my favorite Booktubers and definetely have the BEST TBR game of all time. I play it every month, even though I don't stick to it, because I am a pretty slow ready, but it is so much fun😊
Thank you so so much for the lovely words! And do not be worried - no book you enjoyed is wrong. 😉 If you’ve read Tress already, I’d advise to read Elantris now and then go for Mistborn. You’ll recognize some stuff in Elantris and I think you’ll enjoy it a lot. 😊📚
Great presentation and explanation! I loved the graphic with all the planets. 😅In the unbounded order I have Words of Radiance next and i've only committed two sins - not having read Elantris and having read Tress. 😅So close enough!
Hahah no sins have been committed, my friend. If you enjoyed them, you’ve done well. You’re about to read the best book ever though (the one that I love most) so exciting!
@@libraryunbounded I do think I will pick up Stormlight again after I finish Wheel of Time ( on book 13, so close ) , I got hyped for the Cosmere again after watching!
Very awesome video. I read Warbreaker after Rhythm of War and so wish I had read it earlier. I still loved it though. Most things I have read pretty close to the unbounded way. I haven’t read Shadows or Sixth, still have the last two books in Mistborn Era 2, and all the Secret Projects to read. I won’t be able to wait for Wind and Truth though… I will try and finish Era 2 first, at least! lol.
Thank you so much! :) You know, as long as you've enjoyed them, the order really doesn't matter that much. As I said, I think this is the best way, but that doesn't make the other ways bad. ;) I can't imagine being able to wait a single day to read Wind and Truth, to be honest. I'm actually taking a day off of work on the 6th 😂
@ of course! And you’re right… I’m already feeling conflicted because I know I can’t finish the two Era 2 books before Stormlight comes to my door… and I’m already debating skipping over the end of Era 2 for now 😅 it’s going to be tough! lol
@ welp. That encouragement might sway me! lol. I did start Bands of Mourning last night after finishing Pet Sematary… so I’ll at least finish that one first lol.
Yes just as I thought my method of first reading skyward and then way of kings was the best option Should i now read mistborn before reading words of radiance?
See, i'm not sure if you're joking now 😂 Because Skyward is not a part of the Cosmere at all. But I will consider it as a serious question. It's not a must to read Mistborn before Words of Radiance, though you will miss out on the opportunity to spot some Easter eggs. I would strongly recommend you read it before Oathbringer though. :)
@@libraryunbounded half joking, i knew that it‘s not part of the cosmerer, but that didn’t stop me from starting there. Honestly i loved way of kings so much, especially since i read it at a very tough time in my life and I‘m kind of scared that words of radiance won‘t be able to be as good as way of kings because the character development I made while reading it isn‘t there and I am just enjoying the book on its own. I know it‘s weird because everyone says words of radiance is their favourite or one of their favourite, but still. Thank you a lot though than i will try to read mistborn era one before oathbringer. So in essence you recommend me to read yumi in the nightmare painter next, thanks!
@@TheAlbaner990 I can absolutely understand what you mean. I still think you'll end up loving the other books from Stormlight too. Life offers us constant opportunities to develop strong character. Usually by beating us down harder than we thought we could stand. Yes, Yumi is next, then Gardens of the Moon ;)
Since all the books share 1 world, would not there be some overlap in chronology between some books? If so, I think an easier a answer would be "You cannot" (unless you flip between books you're reading).
To my understanding, there’s no particular overlap between the stories in the different worlds, though there are some that happen closer to each other than others. They do share the same timeline though.
Thank you! 🤎 I've been meaning to start reading Brandon Sanderson's books but didn't know where to start. I'm going to follow your way/ suggestions. I hope you are doing well. 🧡🤎
