Mm, I agree with you. I also felt some of themental health stuff was, it's a little hard to put in words, but out of character and heavy handed resonates. I felt like some of it didn't fit the world building. Like you, how this series has dealt with these topics on the past - especially depression and trauma - has been a real strong suit of the series, so this was a little disappointing. On the other hand I thoroughly enjoyed the connections to the greater Cosmere story we got in this book, and Sanderson's ability to handle a complex and weaving naritive is second to none. I haven't been able to settle on a rating yet, but I agree it's a worthy addition but not my favourite in the series.
I am appalled and disappointed in Brandon Sanderson. I was seriously surprised when I read this statement. An author that had Christianity as a foundation of most of his books should ignore the sinful garbage of LGBT+ by excluding it entirely from all stories. Most Cosmere stories could have been as timeless as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars (original trilogy). Now Stormlight Archives will be forgotten and ignored as a part of corrupt propaganda from one specific political faction. Brandon Sanderson`s best choice would be to de-canonize Wind and Truth, cancel all printing and distribution, then start over from scratch.
I appreciate that you highlighted both good and bad aspects of the book. And I agree with your comments about how the theme of mental health was handled, though you're a lot more generous toward it than I am :) Not just because of the mental health stuff I gave W&T a 2/10.
Well put. I have similar thoughts, and his shift of tone just isnt gelling with me. Comparing the voice that The Way of Kings was written to Wind and Truth, its become way more casual as the stakes of the writing have increased. This might be a deliberate choice from the author, but it doesnt work. I think it should be re-edited for its future printings.
Woah, i know you from insta and threads, BUT YOU HAVE A RUclipsCHANNEL!

There are plenty of things to critique in this book, but the LGBT+ relationships and themes are definitely not part of them. Let's leave the bigotry at the door, and practice some of that love and goodwill towards men your faith is supposed to preach 😇
@@Dalvazar Just wait until Trump send your kind to a re-education camp.
Suddenly turning two characters gay four thousand pages into a series is pretty jarring and needs to be called out. It’s something on par with the stuff Disney does. It’s just there to check a box. No one would complain about it if it was in the first book, then everyone who doesn’t like to read that stuff would not have continued with the series.
@@tj10777 While it was definitely more subtle in the previous books, the two characters in question have been alluded to being gay for years now. This is just the first time the POVs have shifted to them for long enough that we actually learn more about them. Even though their sexuality was never outright stated before, it's not for ANY character until it is. We never saw evidence of them being straight, so what's the problem? Straight shouldn't just be considered the default sexuality. Now, what I WILL agree with is that their relationship progressed way too quickly in this book. Sanderson's never really been praised for his romance subplots, and I definitely feel like there should've been more build-up to this one.
