Missing here (and on RUclips, unfortunately): the season 10 sketch “Returning the Torch to Greece”. The premise: there’s a lot of coverage and hoopla over the journey of the Olympic torch from Greece, but none for its return. The filmed sketch shows various carriers on the journey back; in one scene, an airline counter rep nonchalantly checks in the burning torch; the next scene is of a plane burning on the runway. When the last runner (Rich Hall) finds the return desk, he hands the torch to the clerk, who blows out the flame and gives Rich a few coins (like the deposit paid on empty bottles). Well executed. Totally absurd.
Well you'll be surprised to know that Weekend Update anchor, Colin Jost, was part of the Olympic team covering the surfing in Tahiti (pity he had an injury on his foot).
Olga Korbut is from Belarus, not Russia, but she and Nadia Comaneci were under Soviet rule. BTW Korbut is 69 today and live in Arizona and still alive, while Nadia is 62 and lives in Oklahoma
I'll echo others: the Heterosexual Men's Figure Skating sketch from the Sochi games and Chris Farley figure skating! How those didn't make this list is beyond me. 😂
Strugs get an honorable mention?! I blame the judges. And were is the US Men's Heterosexual Figure Skating Championship? Granted that it's not an Olympic moment, but it is an event to qualify for the Olympics.
True story. As a child I was on a community swim team and at the meets they would always give us sugar cubes right before we raced to give us a jolt of energy.
WOW! Jason Priestley smacked his head HARD on the ice ( ruclips.net/video/DuTzMAmLaDg/видео.html ), which is actually harder than concrete. Sure, he sprung back up and kept going, but then it almost immediately cuts out. I'm sure it's because he had to stop. There's no way he didn't at the very least have a mild concussion from that. And, yes, that is Jason Priestley. He grew up playing hockey and was so good he was expected to go pro, but then he got discovered for modeling and then acting and caught the acting bug, etc., but even on 90210, just like SNL, they looked for reasons to put him on the ice because he was so extremely good at hockey and at skating.

Synchronized swimming gets me every time😂😂😂
Thank you my friend 😊
“I know you! I know you!”
Does anyone remember the all drugs Olympics where Phil Hartman ripped his arms off while trying to triple the existing record for a clean and jerk?
The All-Drug Olympics. One of my favorite SNL skits of all time.
I LOVED Phil SO much!!!
Came here to ask how they could forget the All-Drug Olympics!
"and some sort of fish paralyzer"
😂😂😂
The Jason Priestley sketch should be much higher on this list!
Couldn't agree more. You don't know who's better: the commentators or Jason.😂
The ice skating and synchronized swimming sketches are sublime. They make me laugh every time. And Leslie Jones is funny, period.
“Little Chocolate Donuts” and a Marlboro …😂😂😂😂
That cigarette is so underrated.
I remember straight male figure skating and I laughed hysterically
I have seen it like a million times and O always laugh as hard.😂
My fave is heterosexual men's figure skating prior to the Russian Olympics when Putin outlawed homosexuality.
The Kerri Strug skit was the best. also, the one with Nancy Kerrigan and Chris Farley.
I think the one in last should have been in first place! That had me crying laughing 😂
Olympics Skits are always hilarious 😂

Chris Farley ice skating in the Lillehammer winter games was hilarious!!!
omg martin short/seth mcfarland!! glida,john.....we are so lucky to have had these great talents to enjoy in our lifetimes!!
Synchronized Swimming is one of the top-5, if not top-3, sketches in SNL history... somehow is #7 in top-10 SNL Olympics Sketches.
Oh, Bill Hader😂😂😂😂
Still waiting for Leslie Jones to be an official Olympic commentator

My grandma was from Belarus and Olgs Korbut was magnificent.
Gold medal goes to synchronized swimming, silver goes to Kippy!

"And all other events are peeeeeeeending." 🎵 🎶
Les wasn't interested in the Olympics before 2018? What was she doing in 2016, then, rehearsing? 😂

Little chocolate Donuts. Happy saturday afternoon, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
Synchronized Swimming is #7? What!?!
How about the all drug Olympics. Awesome
I for one am signing up for swim lessons as soon as I’m done writing this!
Kate’s sketches, always the best!!

Although not in this video.
Farley
Now I got to go train and eat my little chocolate donuts
#10 - Seems like a parody of Tonya Harding's terrible performance at the same games
these are hilarious 😂
nick offerman should play walz on snl
top 20 movie trailers narrated by don lafontaine
I hate the Olympics. But I love the all drug Olympics. Hey IOC I am on to your lies.
😂
I guess OJ is persona no grata now, but his run, catch, throw like a girl was funnier than all of these.
Seriously? Tom Hanks’ ice skating bit in 1988 was theee funniest.
These folks pale in comparison.
No all drug Olympics in the top ten????
What about the Russian weightlifter who rips his arms out?
These would be better with LESS commentary
Blushing parodying Bruce Jenner takes on different meaning now
i can;t even watch john belushi now knowing he was a serious misogynist who would make life very difficult for female writers. what a pr_ck.
I hate people that don't do what they can to help females.
First
Mojo, you ruin everything. Why must you talk so much.
#7 WAS NOT FUNNY!...
