this is an ongoing issue in English actually, “literally” now has a slang meaning that means pretty much the exact opposite of the classic definition. So you used it correctly, just correctly in the slang sense, and incorrectly in the literal sense.

@@ksaraf23 Oh no. Time travel on the side of light was definitely cheating. The cut-scene even supports this as kid Nort says "No fair." to "The Light can be tricky" bit. They are both definitely cheating, though Darkness cheats first and most often.
If that's true, I'm gonna need a list of chess pieces as the characters, such as
Xehanort = King(black)
Eraqus = King(white)
Namine = Bishop(white)
Rikku = Rook(black)
Sora = pawn(white)
Vanitas = pawn(black)
etc.

Aside from the part where people have zero investment in the story, agreed.
My investment in this series hasn’t been this strong in a long time.
They really did their homework with this game and the lore. As a fan (who loves the game) I really enjoyes it
As a gamer looking from the outside that was garbled mush but if everyone here says it's right I'll believe them as I've only played FF8 which is the only thing even remotely related to this
Emmanuel Wil-Jeff word to the wise, don’t start with KH3. You’ll just be lost story wise. Last year they rereleased them all in a All-in-one package for the PS4 that has all of them for 50$. I recommend renting that and playing for like maybe 5-10 hours before deciding to get into the series because no joke it’s a lot of a lot.

Thought I was the only one! Kingdom Hearts 3 gave me a headache and I would use the major skill attack because I knew they did more damage but had little idea of how to control most of them.
Yeah, I could barely keep track of where the enemies were through the hail of sparks, lasers, explosions, twinkling lights, and fireworks. Not that it mattered in the end most of the time.
One of the data battles felt more like a Dragon Ball Z game than any Dragon Ball Z game I have played, cuz I managed a combo for a good 10 seconds where I couldn't see myself or the enemy boss, due to us both teleporting around the arena as the camera struggled to keep up

He forgot to mention the second part of the DLC, where you get slapped around by 13 different hard bosses to unlock a secret boss that MIGHT hint at the story of the next game. I haven't beaten a single one.
I tried to fight one of them. Once. Max level, Ultima... but I'm middling at the game, and so left immediately after to have fun with something else. XD
Those data battles are a whole new level of abuse. I can't blame them for skipping out on them altogether.

@Aaron Smith For comparison, Guardians of the Galaxy was released that same year, also with a cast of relatively unknown superhero characters on a budget of $232 million dollars, with a box office return of $773 million. Big Hero 6 was made on a budget of $165 million, and had a box office return of $658 million. Wreck-It Ralph came out a year before on the same budget, and only made $471 million. The Good Dinosaur came out the following year on a budget of $175 million, and only made $332 million. Monsters University beat it out, though that has the benefit of being both a sequel and a Pixar movie. The only movies that beat it substantially over that time period were Frozen, Inside Out, and Zootopia (in terms of animated movies, and they were huge successes), and Marvel & Star Wars movies. I'm not saying BH6 was a HUGE hit or anything, but it did very well.

Somebody in a 45 minute Kingdom Hearts cutscene: Sora, you need to find the power of waking to awaken Roxas's heart which is lost inside yours so that we can use a replica to bring him back because replicas allow for new hosts to take over and Roxas doesn't have a corporeal form anymore since he's in your heart and he's one of the Guardians of Light and without him Xehanort will acquire the X-blade and open Kingdom Hearts and have access to all hearts and souls..."

Btw, Verum Rex really does seem like reborn FF13vs so people could be right that it's gonna be a rewritten FF13vs to fit the future KH titles where there may be more FF/SE characters (unlike KH3) and more life-death/existence philosophically related Disney themed worlds could be used like Coco, Brother Bear, Meet the Robinsons, Pinocchio, Brave, Onward, etc (at least I hope so, fanbase has grown up and more ready for heavier themes after all).

People say they should just end the series but its hard for me to agree. Kingdom hearts is a one-in-a-million idea. In an era of turn based RPGs, they created one of the best action battle systems of all time. They managed to successfully make a Disney game that appealed to adults. They managed to successfully combine disney with final fantasy. If they were to end it, we would lose all of that. Still, they could probably benefit from some new narratives
@@BReedhomies I agree. All KH really need is a new narrative. They sort of did that with Birth By Sleep. Introducing new characters who were NOT Sora and the other 2 half pints. In the end Terra and Aqua became fan favorites. Ventus not so much as he's a bad Sora+Roxas clone. Ventus was never quite like Sora and despite his design, he was NOT the dual wielding black cloaked character that is Roxas.
KH's story by no means is even that complicated to understand. Its basically a meme at this point. Dont even know who started the "so convoluted, so hard to understand." Convoluted? Yes. Impossible to follow? Not even close. KH3 is really the only one with a major need in character backstory for returning members of OGXIII.

They already confirmed this isn’t the last game with sora as the main character just the last of the Xehanort saga and they confirmed that even when they do stop using sora as the main character they plan to continue the games with a new cast

I just watch LPs, just for the story.
I loved KH3. It was the first one I played and even after playing the other ones I still like it, though I can see why some people hate it. It does have it's Down moments, cough ahem"Frozen" cough

In all serious. I’m prob the biggest KH mark you’ll find, and even I can admit how mind numbing KH3 was. We honestly could’ve skipped the whole game, started at post San Fransokyo events(aka the only thing that matters), and it wouldn’t have made a difference. All that Triple-A budget for HOURS of pretty cutscenes that contribute nothing and hold zero stakes. Sora in this game was such a a childish pushover, and en route to the KBG, the game lacked any sense of consequence or impending doom. The plot did not make me feel like the journey was building up to a world ending threat.
Marcus Bishop If we’re being honest, Nomura hasn’t written Disney worlds that consistently mattered to the plot since KH1. I actually laughed at loud when Ven said that you had the power to save him the whole time. The game admits the Disney worlds were a complete waste. 😂
I’ve been playing this since I was 7 and I still love this game franchise and I got the GameStop deluxe pack and I’ve replayed every game on every difficulty
@@KingHarambe_RIP In orig KH I enjoyed that Sora was trying to find Riku+Kairi during the journey. He was also exposed to new knowledge about his role/quest by other friends and antagonists in almost every world. Despite worlds not having individually strong plots, other things gave them substance, impact, and built towards the finale. When I made it to Hollow Bastion and especially the End of the World, I felt like I had been on a long journey. Narratively speaking, I think KH1 was the best paced. KH2 and KH3 worlds felt standalone and didn't really progress the plot or give new insight and consequence(except in isolated and endgame areas).
Marcus Bishop Exactly. Many are fine standalone experiences but to fans invested in the larger plot, all they do is stall progress.
Good Thing i didn't play all the titles and just buckled up and enjoyed the ride ! I learned after Mass Effect Trilogy.......
2 is still my favorite of the franchise, and it feels like it has a better ending (it wasn’t very cliffhangerish). But I think I had the most fun with 3’s combat.
2 still had a mountain of unanswered questions much like KH3 here though. & The game literally ends with Sora finding a letter that the game doesn’t show, and a secret ending with 3 armored knights.

I’m guessing we’re going to get more spinoff games before we finally get kingdom hearts 4 which will also end in a cliffhanger and then we get even more spinoff games and then the final game will finally come out when most of us have died from old age

@@linux750 You wish. They were already talking about 3 being only the end of the Xehanort Saga when the advertising finally started kicking into high gear. If this weren't the last one, they wouldn't have included that Luxu/Foretellers tease at the end.
@linux KH2 was never supposed to be the last game though. Did you forget about the cliffhanger where Sora finds a letter and they never show what’s inside? There’s also the secret ending with the 3 knights.
And don’t get me started on the mountain of unanswered questions. Who were those “others” Xigbar mentioned? What was up with those pods in the old mansion? Who owned the old mansion? What were the human names of half of the organization members? Why did Roxas betray the organization? And this isn’t even including the stuff from the Final mix version.
Hell. Some of these questions STILL haven’t gotten answers. Thankfully, it’s likely we will be getting those answers at some point in a future game.
KH2 clearly wasn’t going to be the last game.
All that matters is that I get to watch Sora and Kairi share the paopu fruit in heaven or whatever. 😂

6:33 I felt that sooooooo damn hard. I've played kh since c.o.m. (gameboy version) came out and when i finally played Kingdom Heart 3 after waiting so long, I was so disappointed for multiple reasons. i didn't even want to get re:mind (even though it was tempting) because of the disappointment. I just watched other people play it
I did the exact same thing lol. After beating main game, I admit the ending was wholesome but left me feeling lowkey teary eyed (out of confusion for what the fuq was going on, the fact Sora just got snapped, and how beautiful the song and scenery was). I couldn't even bother myself to unlock the ultima keyblade or fight any secret bosses. When Re:Mind came out, I was excited to watch other people play only to be again disappointed almost nothing got resolved story wise.
I personally loved the game so agree to disagree. 🤷♂️
Imagine how messed up I was after beating three, thinking to myself I had outgrown/became bored with some thing I love so much.… Only to go back and play kh2 And realize oh... omg THAT’S RIGHT, I love these games. So yeah, I would love to give that feedback to the kh3 staff, “congrats on almost killing one my favorite things “.

Real talk, it shouldnt be that long. Development on KH3 only took so long because the development team was working on a completely new engine. Now that they are used to the new engine, development for future games should be MUCH faster.
However it has been confirmed the next game wouldn’t be KH4 yet. So we still got a ways to go lol.
If you ask me, I’d say 2027 is when we’ll see KH4. We’ll have a few of the important inbetween titles before then definitely.

The fact that Setzer didn't get a proper character bio in the KH2 strategy guide. Seriously, it's like they forgot he's the bad-ass from FFVI who gives you the freaking airship! WTF, people!?
Is anybody going to talk about how OP the Pixar characters are? We had Sully grab Vanitas and dump him into the Himalayas and Woody straight-up telling Young Xehanort that nobody ever liked him.
Unfortunately, being able to understand and follow the franchise's story will just make you hate this game even more. Because it's somewhere between Game of Thrones and Rise of Skywalker in terms of "this makes no damn sense, why do the writers hate us?"
Yeah, that doesn't really apply to everyone. KHIII was my GOTY of 2019.

@@DrakeyC Oh I noticed the problems and weren't blind to them. I completely followed the story along just fine and understood everything. But KHIII is still my GOTY of 2019 because the emotional payoff was just that good. The problems were mainly on the bad guys part of the equation (mostly). If the problems had also been majorly on the good guys part, their reunions wouldn't have worked for me. But they did, because they made sense. And the truth is, the problems in KHIII are definitively less than there were in DDD.

Other examples include everything Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, every Final Fantasy game, the whole Zelda timeline, Dark Souls lore, etc.

I loved the gameplay, at this point I’ve given up on the story, overall the game was good but short.
Jonah Sparkia agreed, fun to play but kind of a disappointment in the end. Remind was pretty weak too, challenging sure, but too repetitive and didn’t add much besides that.
The real issue is that it wasn't a masterpiece. With how long they took and all the minor games we had to purchase along with different consoles, I understand the annoyance.
