hey Dylan, it's me.. from the future.. New Horizon switched the soundtrack to really high-tempo Black Metal, please update your video before it comes out, thanks bye
But they're pulling that bait and switch with Doom Eternal where most of the soundtrack is really chill and groovy, so he can just swap all instances where he named either game.
Are we not going to talk about how someone at Nintendo figured that the perfect soundtrack for a video game about a small town civilization ruled by a society of talking animals is composed of minimal downtempo latin jazz fusion? ...and they were right?!
Jazz love is universal, atleast where people play Animal Crossing. Even if people don't know it, they probably like good jazz :). Especially when it's relaxing and even happy sounding.
He mentioned that, but he also walks through *how to make the sounds from scratch* which is a much more useful thing in the context of the overall video
I love the original game's soundtrack. The BGM always seemed like it was intentionally made to sound kind of amateurish, like someone playing with a Casio keyboard's preinstalled samples. And I love that.
I normally don't watch videos this long without increasing the playback speed but my intrigue and nostalgia got the best of me. I especially liked the songs at 13:10 and 14:34. 13:57 sounded like a shop tune and 15:23 definitely made me especially sleepy lol. Great work!
YES, i swear every game OST is unique, but terraria's takes it to the next level, i've literally never heard anything similar, it's super funky and not that complicated in terms of synths, it's just full of different textures and blips.
It is so weird how many people are talking about animal crossing now. I get the new game is coming up, but like, we never got this for new leaf for some reason.
actually as someone that want to learn how to produce music, or want to get some kind of inspiration, the way you break the songs down and explain how is their structure is very helpful
I'd recommend to you the channel "Music Design" He produces entire remakes of Nintendo songs in Fl studio with every instrument line, and make a full song analysis, with how to recreate every sound, to the theory, to the song's context and everything
the reason the accordion swells in volume is because in order to play it, the bellows fill with (and expel) air when the two halves are pulled apart or pressed together, similar to bowing a string instrument back and forth. the AC composers emulated this function of the accordion to a tee, even with the perfect cheesy soundfont, probably by using a midi keyboard’s mod wheel!
I'd love to see you break down Splatoon's music. Both games have a super unique feel that is a large part of what makes the world's culture so convincing. The tracks are fairly diverse, even having songs grouped into fictional bands, each with their own distinct style. Overall, I feel it could make for a super interesting analysis.
This is better than many of the covers people do, good video. The only thing you needed what the same motif played in most of the pieces you made. Once you get that catchy melody, you can really flesh this thing out.
Ya know.. listening to you songs vs. the original game’s music, I think they use silence more than you. I don’t think your songs are worse, but I think it’s cool how the use of silence is a noticeable difference. At least for me.
Silence is definitely a huge part of Animal Crossing music. A few moments of silence can help the music sink in and give you a moment of quiet to just take everything in. Really if there's a favorite part of animal crossing of mine, it's that.
@@beingmegucaissuffering.5326 Only now i realize, hat's a typical characteristic of Kazumi Totaka's compositions. He made all the animal sountracks and the wii mii channel theme. The mii channel theme uses a lot silence, it's great how it's still an intricate piece of music with like only two layers, only using what is really necessary
This is an insanely good tutorial, even for people who want to learn how to produce in the first place, specifically, how to program the drums for a bossa nova song Great job, and thank you! I can't wait to try this.
It's very fun and easy to make these. I made a lot of them within seeing this video. Thank you for the wonderful idea. I've always listened to them whilst studying but never tried to make em in ableton. It's loads of fun
I don't have acces to my PC so i can only use my laptop to make music, and of course it's not powerful enough to make my usual genre. Thank you Dylan, I'll spend my quarantine making Animal Crossing music. Thank you for real, have a good day and stay safe.

I used to use Sforzando. And I used to play Animal Crossing: Wild World. I am your target audience for this video :) Your fine film here has me twitching - I have an overwhelming need now to dig out my Nintendo DS and dig my poor, neglected village out if the weeds that have no doubt overrun my poor town! Also, Sforzando looks much cooler now! I really need to try it again.
I'd love to see a How To: Pikmin. the music in that game is similar to animal crossings in some areas but in others like in pikmin 2s caves, it completely deviates and turns super WACKY.
