I don't know if it's been requested, I would love to see a similar video on the original Animal Crossing on Gamecube. It would be nice to go back into the past and see how the music has evolved over time and how New Horizon's is influenced by previous entries, as I genuinely love the soundtracks of the whole series.
*CHARLES!!!* You have NO idea how happy this video made me, but particularly because you dissected my favourite ACNH song, 5pm!! That is a JAM. I love watching you break down music like this, I find it fascinating and informative, but also because I freak out at gorgeous chords the same way you do, and it really feels like I'm vibing with a friend when I watch you! Thanks so much for this video! 😍😍😍
Can I just say that Eric Miyashiro did a wonderful job on the flugel part for the opening theme? It makes my trumpet nerd heart happy to hear him just have fun playing for Nintendo in general. I know you didn't cover that particular tune but I thought you should know.
Just watched the full Nebula vid, and dude I LOVE how much you’ve gotten into video game music! I’m sure a lot of people have said this by now but you definitely need to check out K. K. Bossa: so classic, but so good
The way you played KK Jazz sounded so good!! For all of them! I'm glad you liked Animal Crossing music. I think the previous game New Leaf has my favorite soundtrack overall because its so relaxing. But the KK songs are so interesting how they boil down essentials of each music genre.
Like many others, I always greatly enjoy when you analyze an 'unknown' tune on the fly. Your knowledge and experience comes into play and the way you bring the changes into 'conventional' and other contexts is truly inspirational - I have to get back onto the keyboard to try out some of the ideas you present to us. Many thanks for positing these great and helpful videos.
These videos are super helpful for someone still getting to grips with song structure and composition. Love how passionate you are about music, thank you for taking the time to put these together!!!
The first time I heard the 5 pm tune, I literally just stopped playing the game, found a nice spot next to a river, and just chilled and listened to this song as I watched my small village just live. Sat there bobbin my head for a good 10 mins before I got up, some of the best music to come from not just an Animal Crossing game, but video games in general. ACNH is full of bangers.
Honestly wish you could make an album of video game music but with your style. You're one of the most talented musicians I have ever heard and seen. Keep up the good work!
Charles this rocked! Definitely check out KK Bossa, it circulates through my brain once a day, and is a bit reminiscent to the Bossa influences to the Wii Channel music? Think you’ll really dig it
Hey Charles, in case you didn't know there's also a handful of New Years Eve soundtracks in Animal Crossing New Horizons, which all share their own part in jazziness, especially the midnight and the 2am theme!
omg i‘d LOVE to see you listen to more kk slider songs because i genuinely think it is amazing music! if you want jazz you should listen to k.k. slider - cruisin!!!
Hey Charles this video is great! First video of yours I've watched all the way through, the Animal Crossing thumbnail got me but I love your approach and general enthusiasm! Subscribed
Please cover more Animal Crossing music!! Especially the Animal Crossing: Wild World theme which for many years was the de facto theme to the franchise thanks to its reuse in City Folk and Super Smash Bros stage. It’s as equally complex as the rest of the music in AC
Wild world and New leaf were my faves. I was actually sorta disappointed with New horizons hourly music because it was just such a vibe change from the past games. They're not bad, but they're so different it makes me miss the nostalgia of past osts
The walking bass line is so delightful in the jazz tune ☺️ the two measure walk up followed by the two measure walk down is found so often in jazz so I love the addition!!
i'm honestly a little sad you didn't take a look at k.k. cruisin' (live, not aircheck-- there's a difference! live is what you hear him perform every friday, and the aircheck versions are what play on the in-game music player items, which is what you were listening to with kk jazz!) since it's one of the funkier little numbers i can think of! but what you DID do was really really fun and i loved even just hearing the accompaniment ! your videos are always a pleasure and even if i don't know a thing about music theory or what any of the technical words you're saying are i really enjoy hearing the thought process and, of course, your infectious excitement for music
k k cruisin' is probably one of my most favorite songs. I can guarantee that if I put players around my village/islands there is at LEAST one playing it if not more
I would love to see a reaction to some Ace Attorney music. Especially tracks like "Turnabout Sisters," "Pursuit - Lying Coldly," and of course the only jazzy track in the games, "The Fragrance of Dark Coffee." The music in these games is what really sells the tone and feeling of the story and I think they're really well done.

This video makes me so happy. Ever since the game came out and people got mad that the day/night music was so different from all the other games, (besides the kk music) I feel like I never hear anybody actually talk about New Horizon's music and how great it is

Yoooo that was definitely one of my favorite videos, it’s was a lot of fun. If you were gonna make another animal crossing video you should definitely include kk disco! Also have you thought about doing an attack on titan review? Op 1 and 3 are some of the best in my opinion
I love how the part that all themes in the game have in common is the thing he seems to love the most. Really shows they did a great job with the music.
Hello mr Cornell sir, I was wondering if you could look at the De Blob's soundtrack, there's some really cool fusion in there! I especially like Righteous, Funky and Euphoric
Something that adds context to the KK Songs and the Kapp'n song, they're playing from dynamic music data, sort of like midi data, that lets them dynamically change instruments, singers and whatnot. This allows them to have the base "radio"/"aircheck" recordings with just the music (like with KK Jazz), or have concert versions with KK Slider singing (like with KK Cruisin'), it also lets villagers to sing along with the music and dance to the beat using their own voices. Because it's not playing off pre-recordings there's a sense of interactivity that can only be felt when playing the game itself. Even nearby instruments change keys to match the music, so they sound alrightish when you interact with them along to the beat. What's most fun about the KK Songs is that they're meant to sort of be parodies or homages to the songs in the real world, but in an abstract way. Like how when you see cartoon characters watch TV, it doesn't really resemble real TV, save to the broad strokes, and we only see it briefly. KK's songs are the game equivalent of that broad stroke for music. So they often use a solid foundation to evoke the genres of music they're paying homage to, but in a form that can be sung by a synthetic generated voices. Though it comes at the cost of sounding like a natural performance, which the actual background music for the game is made with (like the 5PM track). Neat fact: KK Slider himself is named for Kazumi Totaka, who composed and designed the sound for nearly every Nintendo console. And he composes all the KK songs.

It would be nice to go back into the past and see how the music has evolved over time and how New Horizon's is influenced by previous entries, as I genuinely love the soundtracks of the whole series.
The GC soundtrack is so good. No other animal crossing song will be as iconic as 1 pm with the meows lol
Omggg, I never knew how much I needed your thoughts on Animal Crossing's music until I got your notification! 😍😍😍

Yes!! Katamari has a great soundtrack with a very unique sound of its own

Yeees! Katamari would be amazing
One of my fav soundtracks. Vouch!
K.K. music is so timeless and seeing you geek out over it makes me so happy fr
K. Bossa: so classic, but so good
Watching Charles go nuts over 5PM every time the chords change is so relatable.
ACNH, Super Mario Odyssey, BotW and Mario Kart 8 got some of the best music I’ve ever heard in video games.
Your rendition of harmonizing K.K.Jazz was genuinely amazing, everything felt perfectly fitting
The way you played KK Jazz sounded so good!! For all of them! I'm glad you liked Animal Crossing music. I think the previous game New Leaf has my favorite soundtrack overall because its so relaxing. But the KK songs are so interesting how they boil down essentials of each music genre.
My brain absolutely melted and I became filled with joy when you put it all together at 13:37. That was so satisfying.
Love how passionate you are about music, thank you for taking the time to put these together!!!
can we not forget how every hourly music also has variations for when its rainy and snowy
god i love this franchise
I absolutely love the progressions in animal crossing. There’s so many gooooolden little nuggets in every little jam.
The relaxing & cool music of Animal Crossing has always helped fit the perfect tone of the games
When you started playing the KK Slider Jazz tune with the piano chords I smiled real big :) so nice
Never played Animal Crossing but I LOVE the music
Same - I only heard AC music because The Consouls covered 6-10am, 12pm, KK Crusin', Drivin' and Island Tour.
Heard 8-Bit Big Band’s versions?
@@oldvlognewtricks oh yeah! I love the 8-bit Big Band! Charles should definitely check them out
It always feels good to see someone just as excited when they catch something like this in the middle of a song. So much nuance.
It fills me with so much joy to see him being so passionate about music, you can really tell that he loves doing this
Honestly wish you could make an album of video game music but with your style. You're one of the most talented musicians I have ever heard and seen. Keep up the good work!
Charles this rocked! Definitely check out KK Bossa, it circulates through my brain once a day, and is a bit reminiscent to the Bossa influences to the Wii Channel music? Think you’ll really dig it
Please do some stuff on Bo Burnhams inside, some of the songs are SUPER complex and interesting to listen to
Hey Charles, in case you didn't know there's also a handful of New Years Eve soundtracks in Animal Crossing New Horizons, which all share their own part in jazziness, especially the midnight and the 2am theme!
synopsis - animal crossing music is extremely eclectic, surprising, and also absolute fire
omg i‘d LOVE to see you listen to more kk slider songs because i genuinely think it is amazing music! if you want jazz you should listen to k.k. slider - cruisin!!!
Hey Charles this video is great! First video of yours I've watched all the way through, the Animal Crossing thumbnail got me but I love your approach and general enthusiasm! Subscribed
I just love your reaction such as these!
So fun to see your reactions and intresting to listen to your explainations, always a treat.
Please cover more Animal Crossing music!! Especially the Animal Crossing: Wild World theme which for many years was the de facto theme to the franchise thanks to its reuse in City Folk and Super Smash Bros stage. It’s as equally complex as the rest of the music in AC
Wild World has my favorite hourly music by far.
Wild world was the first animal crossing game i played, so it’ll always be very special to me
Wild world and New leaf were my faves. I was actually sorta disappointed with New horizons hourly music because it was just such a vibe change from the past games.
They're not bad, but they're so different it makes me miss the nostalgia of past osts
I love this so much 😭 I've been playing Animal Crossing for years. It's so funny - the music is actually so good haha
I can guarantee that if I put players around my village/islands there is at LEAST one playing it if not more
what's with all the exclamation marks!
@@dazza2350 that is just how i talk my guy
@@dazza2350 sometimes exclamation marks are indicative of excitement!
@@dazza2350 excited!
One of my favorite game series in terms of music, just has so much charm
i like to imagine his piano stretches far past the camera into the infinite depths of space
Charles’s playing of the K.K jazz was just utterly mesmerising and pleasantly captivating of my attention, Thank You🥺
Why did I start tearing up within seconds of hearing the piano version of Kapp'n's song tho??
Charles playing K.K. JAZZ?! Dreams do come true!
Even better if he collaborated with The Consouls (they have done about 10 AC covers to date)
If you love Ace Attorney music (and I do!) and you haven't already, you might like to check out The Consouls covers of Court Begins (they did 2 - one years ago and one recent) and The Fragrance of Dark Coffee.
@@cooldebt thank you for the recommendation!
You have no idea how happy I am to see someone else realize how brilliant the Kapp'n song is!!! And someone with enough musical knowledge to break it down as in-depth as you did here.
You just made me realise what was missing from the KK Jazz Song, a piano, cause that was amazing

@@cooldebt oh, no I know their channel. I listen to it from time to time. But I don't believe they made a KK Jazz though
This video makes me so happy. Ever since the game came out and people got mad that the day/night music was so different from all the other games, (besides the kk music) I feel like I never hear anybody actually talk about New Horizon's music and how great it is
animal crossing has always had funky music, New Horizons has the most iconic of the series so far, and the best part is that its live band music
Would love to see you check out some more AC tunes like the Wild World main theme, K.K. Cruisin', and The Roost! Great video as always :)
Dude, I don't know why but you made me cry listening the last song with u playing the chords, so beautiful ♥️ make some Pokémon covers from Diamond and Pearl OST sure you will have a lot of views
I want a part 2 so badddd!, also i want to learn how to play piano but dont have money for a keyboard yet, but hearing you go crazy about things i dont know about yet is great! i love your videos!
Would’ve loved to see you react to K.K. Ska… one of my fav KK Slider songs!!! I remember trying to play it on my sax in high school lmao
Besides the game play itself being so relaxing, the music is as much the reason that it's relaxing. I'm so glad that you touched on this.
Yoooo that was definitely one of my favorite videos, it’s was a lot of fun. If you were gonna make another animal crossing video you should definitely include kk disco! Also have you thought about doing an attack on titan review? Op 1 and 3 are some of the best in my opinion
agreed that would be sick👍👍
the amount of cuts because he just started jamming out on the piano makes me so happy :D
This was fantastic! Can you please do BEASTARS one day? It’s so jazzy. Satoru Kousaki is genius with narrative harmony and leitmotifs.
Your playing on k.k. jazz was absolutely perfect, so good!
Let’s goooo, you finally did animal crossing
I love how the part that all themes in the game have in common is the thing he seems to love the most. Really shows they did a great job with the music.
id love to see just a short series of shorts where charles is just jamming out to different soundtracks
Broo i'm in love with this type of videos, thank you for doing this!!!!
I haven't gotten too deep into New Horizon's music since I don't have the game, but I'm really liking it so far. Thanks for highlighting it!
You might like to check out the ACNH covers by The Consouls until Charles does his versions
@@cooldebt thanks for the recommendation!
7:46 7:51 this sounded so nice PLEASE make a longer version i BEG OF YOU
That K.K. Slider cover looks like a Blue Note Grant Green cover (actually like a few of them).
Seeing people geeking out over their favourite thing is just such a blast to watch! :D
And he composes all the KK songs.
just subscribed to nebula to watch these videos LOL i love me some animal crossing~~ i literally own k.k. slider cds because i have a problem.
some of my favorites tracks from this game are k.k. disco, the 3am music (perfectly chaotic) and the store closing music is SUBLIME. i’m also gonna throw in drivin (by k.k.) because it SLAPS-
If you like the AC music, you might like the jazz covers by The Consouls - you can listen on YT or Spotify - they are really good :)
@@cooldebt i already LOVE THEM TOO-♪ i binged all their AC stuff again after watching this video lol
CDS?! Where do you get the CDs?! The holidays are approaching and I need to make a list!
OMG, I love this music! Although I have already played animal crossing, just listening to the music I love it even more.
