    Before anyone noticed, fromsoft games are the new action games template instead of dmc and ninja gaiden...time sure does fly. I'm glad there are people still playing ninja gaiden though. Cheers bro

      I appreciate you checking the video out! And yeah, I personally don't understand it. Not that fromsoft games shouldn't be as popular as they are, but that Ninja Gaiden and even DMC don't get that same love and respect. Even with DMC's recent success with 5 there's still such a major gap.And I would much prefer "dmc-like" over a "soulslike" like any day. (And "Ninja Gaiden-like"--but I feel would be a LOT harder to replicate) but that's a whole other topic!
      Thanks for watching!

      @shape444 well I guess I can't really be too mad. I'm 35 so I was in the middle of team ninja and Capcoms clover team(parts of which split off into platinum games) heydey back in the early 2000s. But it's been 20 years, so younger people wouldn't know as much about DMC or Ninja Gaiden i guess. Whereas from soft games still come out and get new people invested in them and have penentrated the cultural sphere.

      @@MrInuhanyou123 good point. Really good point. When I think about it like that, gaming in that era wasn't nearly as popular or widespread as it is now. So it makes sense when gaming did hit the major leagues of mainstream so to speak, the things that caught peoples attention were the new up-and-coming titles and not the older more established ones that had somewhat gone quiet. And with souls being uncontested for quite a while, it snowballed into what it is now--basically defining the genre. At least that's how I'm seeing it at the moment.
      Man, could make a whole video on that 😅 thanks for the added insight, it does make things make more sense with the added context

    You wanna know the crazy part about the Sigma games. Their hardest mode Master Ninja is just the regular hard difficulty of the Xbox versions of the games that you can only play on Xbox backward compatibility. The Xbox OG versions of the game are the ones that Itagaki were allowed to go all in with while the Sigma series were the games they toned down for the Playstation releases.

      I believe it. I remember rage-quitting so hard on Xbox Ninja Gaiden as a kid to the point I've never finished it. It wasn't until I got Sigma on PS3 and beat the game there, because it was easier, that I decided to revisit the Xbox version. I still never finished it because mid-way through my saves got corrupted which meant I had to start all over😅

    • @NY-Buddy
      @NY-Buddy 2 месяца назад +3

      As a former God player of this series its somewhat true.
      Sigma 1 Was pretty decent but they added a lot of RNG to certain things in the game that was unnecessary to try to make it harder. But what team Ninja today failed to realize is that artificial difficulty is why most players dislike their games now compared to what they were before.
      Ninja Gaiden was a series that was hard because it just was programmed correctly. Whereas a lot of games made now try to cheat the player with things like enemy tracking, And massive damage.
      That's why Ninja Gaiden sigma 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3 are such awful games compared to the original Ninja Gaiden 2.
      And unfortunately a lot of games follow this concept in like every game made today and it's the bane of why I dislike a lot of hack and slash action games today.

      @NY-Buddy NG Sigma 2 had legit challenges even moreso than NG 1. The camera made that game difficult. For NG 2 the camera and the bugs made this game way harder than it should have been.

Considering that from Ninja Gaiden 2 onwards, the combat gets faster, NGS1/NGB remains an unique action game even after all of this time. Not even 10 seconds in, I see you charging the UT 2 times, both without setting up the onland state. If you do it right after a jump when landing, you skip the wind up animation of the charge. Provided there is essence on screen, the UT will consume it and will be charged instantly. Holding block prevents you from consuming the essence yourself. There's a lot of tech like this in the game, watch a guide before playing, it will make your experience with the game much more enjoyable and less frustrating.

    • @shape444
      @shape444  Месяц назад +1

      Hi there! I suppose the video title could give the impression, but I enjoyed the game. Wasn't mad at it or frustrated with it in any shape or form! As I was playing some vets of the series did drop by to give some helpful tips and insight along the same lines with UT etc. I picked up some of it but not all of it, made it to master ninja some 30 hours in but after enough feedback I should clearly be playing the original version of this and 2 (apparently, ESPECIALLY 2)--and not sigma so I'll be finding a way to play those (I don't have an xbox).
      Personally I'd never read any guide before actually trying the game myself, I'd rather learn the hard way, because there's fun in that (for me). The only time I actually felt like I was missing something was with the Alma fight but I eventually just picked up that she's just a jerk and it was ok, I managed. lmao
      thank you for your comment!

    • @thatonequote
      @thatonequote Месяц назад +1

      @@shape444 thank you for replying, and I'm glad you're having fun with the series. Just a quick note: at this moment you don't need xbox to play the vanilla 2. If you have a beefy pc you can emulate it via xenia canary. That can be a bit of a hassle, and even better/easier: you can mod sigma 2 on PC to bring the blood and limbs back. It's still a hybrid: the sigma 2 boss changes are still in place for example, but imo the modded sigma 2 black is the best version of 2 to play right now.
      I understand and respect your approach of learning the game for yourself, but this way you're still gonna miss some tech. It's just not obvious at all. I love action games and I wish they were more popular. Mandatory tutorials should be included in my opinion, as inevitably people will complete these games without realizing how they are meant to be played. Worst case scenario people end up hating great games. I'm glad you're having fun, but fully understanding the mechanics of the game from the get go can only amplify that fun in my opinion.

    • @shape444
      @shape444  Месяц назад +1

      @@thatonequote yep, 100% agree. My own go-to action game is Nioh, also by team ninja, and there's alot of things new players miss, partially because it's somewhat obscure or because its importance its not emphasized enough by the game that they end up missing or overlooking it. So too many players end up missing essential things like ki pulsing etc and wonder like you said, why the game is hard and so on.
      I'm actually not much different--I ended up missing alot of things on my own first playthrough of Nioh. But I ended up liking the game so much I did multiple playthroughs and slowly picked up more and more mechanics as I did so. I can see myself doing the same with Ninja Gaiden honestly. It seems like a game you can keep playing like that, which I look forward to! Judging by your response, sounds like modding is the answer over emulation. I'll definitely look into that when I revisit the game, which'll definitely be sooner than later. Appreciate you!
