As the new owner of an A65, this is pure gold. I am checking crank end float etc. before I ride it any distance. I am also rewiring it with a proper ignition switch and tiny led indicators (black). I will be checking out any A65 info. you have, as it is quite obvious you know your stuff.
You really do nice work, I’m always impressed at your detail, even if a lot of times the bikes don’t start 😂. I’m a cable under and tab outer guy but you have made such good points here that I’m willing to convert. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Picked up a 67 Thunderbolt from.the original owner last week and I really like the bike.It is in really nice condition with 11,000 miles. I have spent many hours cleaning and polishing this amazing machine.
I have a goldstar looking 54 b33 , I'm working on the primary cover this weekend, oil leaks ! Mine all ready has a neoprene seal but that useless felt is a wick , I am going to machine a protruding lip to help draining oil drip over the sliding seal plate , and probably weld it on in a few places , as I have some other welding repairs to do on the inner cover as well . Id be happy with a drip , but I have puddles .. cheers
How about replacing the big felt washer with a thin closed-cell plastic wrap type material? White stuff like they use to wrap things when shipping them? One or two layers. Stuff they didn't have back in the 50's. Just a thought. I've never done it. Might be an interesting experiment.
