This surpasses what I had imagined. Amazing place! Have fun🎉❤
Beautiful area…old, laid back southern charm…
Greg’s place is just GORGEOUS!! The peace and tranquillity comes right out of the screen. Up until the guys rock up on their bikes I guess. Have a wonderful safe and fun time. Please give my best to your brothers.
A friend of mine suggested, “let’s get trikes”. I suggested, “let’s not get trikes”. For the same reasons as you Frank!
Beautiful home and area. Very cool Frank, thanks for sharing
Going to have to check Y Tube. My last notification was 5😢
Oh hey, I live in OK (Tulsa) and your road destruction is nothing compared to what has happened to me and other okies in the past. I grew up in So. Calif….some of the roads and streets in OK are little more than cow trails. When I get a motorcycle restored and take it out for a first ride I have a very specific route I’ll go…
You shouldn't was your dirty laundry in public
What map needs OK? Hilarious.
In Kansas they do pronounce it as "Ar-Kansas"
Hey Frank - I can agree that the "backroads" in Texas are a JOY to travel ! A few years ago, a friend and I rode out street bikes from Phoenix, AZ out to the GP race at Circuit of the Americas Raceway in Austin, TX. We took secondary roads all the way, and had a blast !
Lindsay, Texas. I knew I musta had ancestors who ‘went west’! Safe travels my friend!
Every thing is big in Texas! Even funnel clouds. Maybe the carb on your generator needs some special love?
Has it a low oil switch that's playing up. Honda generators are known to have these. Other manufacturers probably do to
Keep us posted on your progress…
I like the 1966 T120R, I have one😊
Drive safely.
My dad bought our 1990 Jeep Cherokee to tow behind his motor home.
Safe travels!
I have to agree with Kevin. I like the 650 engines better than the 750 engines also. The 750 definitely has more torque but the 650 just always seems to be the nicer running engine.
I always liked the disco era bonnies, I hear to wake up the 750's you need to use 650 cams, but for refinement I think the 750's take the cake.
Thats correct, fit T120r cams and it will run as fast as my T120r with 750 kit. See it going fast on my channel. Owned since 1998
He's one very happy test pilot!!!
For an enthusiast I'm sure the repair/renovation cost was worthwhile. For those of us just dreaming about restoring an old vertical twin, would it be possible to give us some idea of how much money was put into this bike?
Sorry but for privacy reasons we just don't discuss the financials of individual bikes. But in general the restoration costs reflect the condition of the bike being considered. Better condition, less to restore. Here is my very personal, very subjective, and probably wrong way of estimating the costs of reviving a bike you might be considering to buy. Look at the bike and a $$ to restore/make safe/make reliable/make fun figure will pop into your head. Then triple that figure. I'm not joking. It always costs a lot more than it seems it should. Frank
I like that bike. I have a 78 T140 that I picked up last year in a partial trade. I hated the bike when I first got it (the clutch was impossibly stiff, it was back firing and popping every time I'd lay off the throttle, and it kept having random no spark issues.... but now that I've gotten the clutch fixed and the bike running nicely, it's really grown on me. Lots of fun to ride. It's very different from my 1964 TR6 650. The 750's aren't super fast, but they entice you to twist the throttle. The 650 is more of a leisurely gentleman's ride. I get much better gas mileage with the 650 because I'm not giving it the beans every time I accelerate from a stop.
Sounds like art with a capital f.
My Triumph TR6 with a hardtail and magneto my 1965 was as reliable as my 1999 Harley Davidson Sportster 883.
You can never get those bikes oil type for any amount of time. Real motorcycles leak oil just not too much.😂
Did they use a metallic spray paint on the covers on that bike? All three covers (primary, timing and gearbox) seem to have a matte finish, which isn't normal. When I saw the timing cover and the triangle patent plate I realized it's probably been painted over. 4:22
Yes. The covers are painted.
Nice rig…great traveling companion…keep her between the lines and have a great time with the guys…
Quite the set-up ! All the comforts of home - except the motorcycle lift..
Have a nice trip!
Looks like a fantastic set-up, mate. Enjoy. Drive carefully.
Nice campsite. Enjoy your well-deserved time away.
Birdsong in the trees sounds beautiful, as it's analogue, not digital. Commandos are mechanical, not electronic. Well done chaps.
Wow! Thank you.
Good to see ya back Kevin
Three Nortons in your garage! I've got three too, and the're all mine! I'm nuts! 😊 BTW... that GP shift pattern is not just a Norton thing...Older BSA, AJS, Matchless, Royal Enfield, Ariel and anything with a Burman transmission used that shift pattern. 😊
One up, three down 😅
I would not worry about the smoke on the green Norton. You guys are not/cannot ride the bike like you should to break the rings and such in. Stop just starting it and idling it, and let the owner really run the bike the way you should for a break in. At least 500 miles.
Right on Kevin is back! Man I think you need to buy a house on a hill for these Nortons! Just mount up, roll down the hill, pop the clutch and bump start thoses beasts! I just started my 69' Tiger for the first time post rebuild, it took about a dozen kicks, so I do not feel so bad now. Keep the videos coming!
Had a 69 green fastback in the day.I weighed under 60 kilos at the time, but usually started it with a coupla kicks.I had the bruised foot to prove it.Still the best looking bike around.
The pleated seat on the yellow bike looks nicer than the basket weave and the square pattern seats which came later.
Great to see the test pilot back!!!!
Welcome back, he has missed you (we all have)
Good to have you both back together. Your turn for a holiday now Frank. Love your videos buddies, I am an Englishman watching you from SW France. I am rebuilding a 1960 BSA Golden Flash from several boxes of parts, it’s taking quite a long time and I am getting older and slower 78yrs next birthday.
You guys (all of you) are inspirational. I would imagine you don't want to hear that.
Good to see Kevin back, great show guys really like it keep up the excellent work. I've got a 1977 Norton Commando MK3 Interstate ES love it, like seeing you work on them always interesting.
I am a confirmed Vespa owner/rider -- have 2 of the little beasties, a 50cc and a 300cc -- but I DO appreciate a British bike! All 3 of those Nortons are simply slap gorgeous! Back in high school, I owned/rode a '70 Triumph Daytona 500 (that was in '71/'72) and loved it. Subbed to your channel just yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks! BTW -- I live in the SoCal desert above Palm Springs, so I totally get the 114F part!
The green one very nice try straight bars up front I really liked it that way with rear sets
I would not let that bike idle any longer, its time to take it up and down the road at varying loads to get those rings to really bed in.
yup. Just as soon as it it Titled, Registered, Tagged and Insured I'm sure the client will do just that.
Cool Not my ideal plug result but maybe my expectations are too high. I have boxes of plugs looked like that Don't work anymore Don't get me wrong as have learned a lot from this channel and obviously you are pro at this but am I missing something here?
No, not missing anything. Total time on the plugs is probably less than an hour so any visual observations are very inconclusive. I was just showing that there weren't any huge carbon clods or excessive oil on the plugs. The plugs are working perfectly as far as the engine running at all RPMs.
If you put the bike on the center stand and straddle the bike when kicking much easier for your (not so twisted) knee. Regards Con.
Yes, you are right. But I am no longer confident in my ability to safely put a Norton on the centerstand without Kevin standing by. I'm 81 now and I'm beginning to accept my limits. For the most part I'm even letting Kevin do the heavy kick starting.
Frank, maybe you should close up shop until Kevin returns.
Thinkin seriously of rolling the RV out for a weekend.
