Shark Fishing The Beach

- Every year about this time the sharks run the beaches up and down the east coast. For the shore-based angler there is no larger fish to conquer than a Shark, as they commonly reach sizes of 7 feet or more. There are a multitude of species available in different regions during different times, New Jersey typically sees both Sandbar and Sand Tiger sharks throughout the summer with other species making their rounds as well, the further south you go, the greater the diversity in species, while in Cape Cod, Great Whites to 20' can be sometimes be seen within spitting distance of shore.
If you catch a shark, it is best to keep it as close to the water as possible while unhooking and preparing for release. Pliers should be kept within reach at all times to minimize the amount of time the shark is out of the water. As large as they are, these fish are fragile and can die from stress if mishandled, the longer they are out of the water the more revival they'll need. Pliers, Camera, get it in and get it back out! Save the Sharks!

Good video and cool sharks
Awesome video!!!
Verry nice
Very nice
Cool vid
I love shark fishing. The only problem is they are really hard to find in Tennessee. LOL...Great vid.
Hahaha
Awesome!!!
Need to fishing with you water is so much cleaner then in Delaware
Gotta love all these people asking "what beach? What bait? What time?" Get out and learn it yourself people. Nice sharks man hoping to get out soon myself
exactly!
Good video I'm shocked you weren't swarmed by people after the hook ups only bad part about fishing jersey beach during daytime. If you ever want to fish the Trenton new jersey area I can show you some pretty awesome lakes too yak one being private so the fish have zero pressure which is crazy for N.j. as you know well
there was a small swarm of people behind me for the 2nd shark there haha, those spots you mention sound awesome too
awesome
Where are you catching the Sharks island beach state park?
what pound line?
Are the any specific open beach areas you target Sharks? Near inlets? By sandbars? Or any other beach structure?
Islands or mainland cape?
Did u use a shock leader or just wire and a hook
due to the massive increase of the seal population, big sharks like great whites are coming close to the beaches to feed even in highly human populated areas, causing for a higher chance of mistaken identity.
What line did you use for your main line and for your leader?
You ever go sharking in sandy hook?
What bait did you use
I'm from south jersey were did you catch that
What beach or where are fishing at?
Was this because I asked if you ever target sharks from the beach? lol
You ever pull a tooth from your sharks
How do you like your star stellar rod?
Nice sharks what beach
going this weekend to the Indian River inlet it will be my first shark trip. is this time of the year good (july)
You guys are brave using those little pliers lol
I caught a big sandbar just about the size of that second one, and it fought exactly like yours did. We were talking about the big ray I had on my line the whole time I was bringing it in and I was mind blown when we saw a dorsal fin.
Awesome job man!
Dam i got to get down there and get a few sharks. Its been to long. Just works tying me to Montauk. I got a special Shark Kayaking thing coming up though that should be fun haha
special shark kayaking thing eh? I like the sound of that haha
Haha yeah it should be cool.
can anyone help me out with the what pound test and what bait to use to catch sharks
Keep up the amazing videos man ! waiting on them daily to entertain my summer holiday
I'm going to IBSP next weekend and thinking about kayaking out past breakers for bait deployment.. how far out would you suggest for the big ones(6-8ft)?
200 yards would put you in the money zone. some nights though you can catch on just a lobbed out cast, but more often than not the paddled bait will get the pig
Great Video Chris your content is awesome
awesome catch lol that last shark was pretty big haha
hey Money what time should I go and where and what should I use and oh can you catch one for me LOL
Would you be willing to share info about the rig you're using to cast into the surf?
I just added it to the description but just a basic fishfinder rig with steel leader and 10' of shock leader
Finally a sharkfishing video again 😍😍😍
Didn't fight, probably sick and inshore looking to wash itself up and die. See that happen too often here on Delaware and Maryland beaches.
That was a Big Brown...you guys are so much brave shark fishing LOL
Hey new sub here! loving the vids brother! fellow delaware/nj fisherman but I fish the delaware bay mainly. We had a great spring striper season. The bay has been pretty beat but flounder are starting to show up. Keep em coming man, I can't get out as much as I'd like to so at least I can watch you get it done. may the fish gods be with you!
what was the bait for the sharks?
man you can catch em on anything
awesome video chris! keep it up, and next time your at the bay bridge tunnel fish in VA lemme know! im 45 mins away and these waters are my home, tryna get vids up myself
now thats one hell of a CATCH! lol..good on you for releasing
You gotta come catch some big maryland sand tigers with me in Ocean City! We kayak baits out a couple hundred yards and fight them on boat gear, heavy penn boat rods and reels.
I was wondering what a good technique for bunker sharing is. I've been cutting it in half and casting into the swell and haven't gotten a bite. Thanks!
Awesome sharks Chris. Would you mind telling how to best go after bigger sharks while surf fishing if you cannot paddle your bait out. I'm going surf fishing in SC next week and I want to catch some monster sharks like you. What kind of rig and bait do you use?
Well obviously use spinning reel with 65 to 70 on braid
All info for what he used is in the description. Check it out.
+ML226633 thanks. He must have edited the description in response to lots of people (like me) asking about it. It wasn't listed before I believe.
try a 9ft+ rod, id say braid with some sort of metal leader. use any bloody bait really, ive caught sharks off squid. just try a rocket that bait past the wave breaks
what bait were you using?
Bunker chunks
What was bait?
Bunker chunks
I'm looking to invest in a kayak. If you don't mind, do you prefer a sit in or sit on and is there a brand you would recommend?
sit on top is what youll want for any kind of big water yakking, I use a hobie revolution 13, any hobie or jackson is good, Im not to familliar with all the paddle ocean yaks but there are good paddle options out there too which will be cheaper than the peddle yaks
thanks! keep up the good videos man
You should totally make a saltwater fishing tutorial!!!
DAMN SON !!!!!!! Hahaha sick video ! And of coarse we enjoyed it !
I caught a 150lbs brown shark about i mile off the beach of wildwood. Nice sharks man. +Sea-Money Fishing
TPG Gaming going wildwood in couple days off the beach or on a boat and if you don’t mind where I’m dead set on catching one
Sick stuff man
nice sharks dude!
these people are professionals!
Don't loose that lucky shirt man. It did its deed on those sharks. Tight Lines.
Damn it would probably be fun to fight a shark, I don't do much fishing but then again I am only 14. But I live Farley close to a river, but the best I have done is a 5 pound cat😔
where was this??!!!
undisclosed location but any beach will have sharks
pls post more
YES!!!
I would use longer pliers.
cool sharks. What are some good shark baits?? never fished for shark this should be fun.
Any fish is good bait. sharks eat anything! we used bunker this time.
any fish but the bloodier the better
oh thanks for the info.
can you go over what your rigs were for those sharks. thanks and keep up the great work!!
The back strap fillets from a shark is a very good meat, nice catches bro shark fishing is always fun!
I live in Oregon it's on my bucket list to catch a shark
sweet nice one :)
This is something I'd love to do. How do you get through the stripers/bluefish though?
hey bud I absolutely love your channel. I purchased a penn squall 60 lever drag reel and a daiwa beef stick 12 foot casting rod in hopes to catch some shark from the shore at seaside heights /park or island beach state park. I'm a total newbie and don't know what line to use or hooks leaders and bait. You make it look so easy. What's the best place to fish for shark down that way and what should I fill my reel with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ayyyyyy it's that time of year
yea man theyve been around for a little while but action isn't as crazy as years past, we'll see where it goes!
Another great adventure Chris! What are you fishing for next?
cobia in the lower chesapeake from kayak tomorrow and thursday! Thats the goal anyway, I havent caught one yet and hoping this time it works out haha
+Sea-Money Fishing good luck with the cobia, that will be a killer sleigh ride if you hook up!!
+Sea-Money Fishing Good luck man! Seems like a elusive fish.
+Sea-Money Fishing when are you going back to nj
omg that was so cool fishing for life
How much does all of the gear for shark fishing cost ?
I'm coming down next week to Sea Isle area - any recommendations? Gonna be out fishing in that area?
what's the bait?
bunker chunks
bloody and oily baits work best
what was your setup
Cool vid, you need longer pliers, you guys get awful close to those teeth!!!
you are correct. I got sliced last year on a toothy shark because of the short pliers. I should probably have a better pair haha
Chris, I've watched all over your videos, especially your shark pursuits many times and have learned much so thank you. I got into land based shark fishing in NJ 2 years ago and have a profound respect for the fish, and it's definitely became an obsession. I would truly appreciate if you'd be able to respond back to a couple questions.I cast my rigs. I use 65# PowerPro, FG knot to 12' of 100# mono shock with fish finder rig, crimped to 412# swivel, to either 145# cable, or #14 single strand with haywire twist to 10/0 circle hook. I was wondering, how long is your shock leader, and what do you use to attach it to your braid? For these fish, did you yak your baits out or cast? You've mentioned 10 foot of depth being an important factor. How are you able to determine the depth? I've looked at various depth charts (topo maps of beaches) but it's hard to determine how far out the various contour line are from the beach. Lastly, I've toyed with how I set my drag (spinning reels) and am still on the fence about keeping it just light enough to hold in the surf, as well as keeping about 5-10 lbs of drag on the reel in hopes to auto-set the circle. I'm still not sure which one is best and I was hoping to get your take on it.I've put some small sandbars on the beach up to 5 feet but I'm really hoping to get a football of a mature brown this year or a big sandtiger. Thanks for all of the great videos!
can you give the viewers some insight on the gear to use?
just added to the description of the gear I used, pretty much you just need a heavy action rod/reel with some steel leader. I dont land every shark I hook into, there will always be some that break free or come unhooked, but Ive been using the same set-up for the past several years with consistent success, I have older vids that might show the rig better.. Ill try to make a better video of the bait rigs and tackle soon, this was just the first trip we were successful
can you please do an intructional surf shark video?
How far out do you need to be? 200, 300 yards out?
Really enjoy your videos. We have a house around Wildwood, NJ. What bait and set up are you using to catch the Sharks? Thanks.
Was that the line rating next to the rod in the description
And do you also think a 7ft rod or 6'6 rod ok for surf fishing
depends what you are fishing for really, id recommend at least a 9ft rod to get better distance but i use a 10ft
try a much bigger rod to rocket your bait past the wave breaks
no baits were harmed in the making of this video
Besides for the rod and reel, about how much money does it cost you to go shark fishing? (hooks, leader, wire, bait, etc)
I am new to surf fish and have been using my grand father rod that is 9 feet and can hold 1-3 ounce wieght but I've been using 5 ounce a rig and bunker so can't get good casts. I'm thinking about getting a new rod and reel. What's a good rod for overall use? Like what length? Ounce wieght? I don't usually through lures so it's just for bait fishing.
Also it would would be meant for all around purpose (dog fish, Sharks, Rays, blue fish, stripers, and whatever ever else maybe fluke) thank you!
never get a big boat. You don't need one.
Those little kids lmao😂
Where you using mono or braid
“Can you hold my rod? Don’t lose him!” Wtf
Hey When is a good time to go shark fishing from the beach? I also was wondering if it is possible to catch sharks from the beach in Long Island at places like Robert Moses state Park or Montauk Point. Lastly I was wondering what is the best time to catch them? Day or night?
dude they got a kayak skin called Sea dek at icast looks sick just heads up bro
Going to ocean city New Jersey for vacation... Would like to catch some sharks off the beach. Are my chances good there? Should I just mimic your tactics in your shark videos?
Hey i was just on vacation fishing on the beach and I caught a big sea turtle it was really cool
that is cool!
Isn't that illegal bro
+SFK Gaming I believe so
+SFK gaming and +reptilefreak72 probably but it wasn't on purpose and I didn't want to hurt him or anything
