You know what else is great? Your attitude ,all of these other gearheads are asking questions, they've all got enthusiasm, and you answer every one with same enthusiasm, that's the way to be! Keep it up,great job
@@waterzonegt9179 Sorry, just seeing this. I did make them, they were purchased from Mr. Gasket. Would be neat to make some though. Thanks for watching.
Nice build. We put a junkyard 400 and turbo 400 in my buddies. It didn't take long and he broke the rear. We got a 14 bolt from the junkyard. Had it narrowed to fit. No issues after that. Even with the 200hp shot of nitrous. It was running a 7.9 in the 1/8 mile.
I just bought a 86 s10 with a sbc 400..my flywheel is going to need to be replaced soon..but i cant get to the bell housing bolts due to clearance..any advice?
Possibly remove crossmember and lower transmission enough to g t some long extensions up in there. Good luck and thanks for watching. BTW, did you see my latest video? Another complete S-10 build. It just came off t Saturday…
Wow, that is a cool story. I love hearing that you had so much fun with it. I want another 4X4 S-10, my current S-10 is a V8 2 wheel drive. It is fun, but nothing like the 4X4's. What ever happen to it and thanks so much for the update and for watching.
Come to think of it, I had a grey one and a green one. I assume you are talking about the green one. Have you seen the videos of it on my channel? Thanks again.
I have a 98 factory 5 speed chevy blazer with the 4.3 that I'm gonna be doing a v8 swap to this summer .. For now it's my daily driver lol .. Thank you for your vids I love them !!!!
Herbert Humphrey Thanks for the compliment!!!. Good luck and if you run into any questions during your build, I am only a comment away. What are you going to put in it and are you going to make us a video?
snowmangsx1100 Thanks, I almost did another at the beginning of summer. Some guy was selling one in my town. I had an LS motor in it that had been pulled. Everything was there except for an engine and transmission and he only wanted $700. Long story short: It sold before I could get to it...
hey right down the street here from my house a garage has a pretty nice S10 body for sale,,its black with a raised spolier on the hood and aint to bad for 700 Dollars,,Id use it but my truck is much nicer and would make a cuter sleeper,,haha,,I might can get a photo of it and send you later.
If you are talking about that S-10, I actually sold it before I could get to the stuff mentioned at the end of the video. I didn't even want to sell it, but I got a super offer. However, I am constantly looking for my next S-10 project, I hope you will tune in when it happens.
chud327 hey man, I'm building me a truck for my first vehicle. I had a ton of questions to ask you if u don't mind helping me out. Was the transmission Manual? If it is/was what shifter did you use or was it already on the truck? I don't know much about the s10 but do they all have the one legger rearend? And my last question is do I have to relocate the gas tank when I put a muffler on the truck or no? Thanks for you help in advanced.
Sorry, just seeing your questions. 1st - Mine was an automatic, but I used to have a 5 speed blazer with a 4.3. The V8 will bolt right up to where the 4.3 was. The rear ends are most likely going to be one leggers from the factory. If you do dual exhaust on one side, the tank can stay. I have done it both ways, but I prefer to leave the stock tank in the truck. I hope this helps and is not too late, thanks for watching.
Nice ride!!! I just bought a 91 2.8 5spd reg. cab w/short bed. perfect body, original patina powder blue color...... all works and complete ! $200.oo. 6/12/19. and it begins! just sayin
hey a quick tip on bleeding your brakes,,next time your at auto zone buy you a a foot or so of wind shield wiper washer hose or some of the very small gas line that will cup over the end of the bleeder screw and hand to the ground or into a bottle and you can save the mess of it srpaying all over your rear housing and brake dust covers,,also if you can have someone to help you use a short enough piece of hose and let the end go down into a bottle of brake fluid and all you have to do is pump the brakes and release and it will take the air out,,long as the level in the bottle is above the hose it want let air get back in but requires the bottle to be close to the wheel cylinder.
snowmangsx1100 I used to have one that had a short hose and a magnet on it, but I don't know what happened to it. I should make up another and make a video. I am on the edge of bleeding the brakes on my dune buggy project. I'll try to build another bleeder device for that.
+ToadNumber55 Hey, thank for watching and for commenting. I just sold mine a few months ago and I already have the fever to build another, I think it is in my blood. I hope some day that I can see a great video of your S-10 with its V8. I suggest that you go ahead and start collecting parts and try to find a nice body. Good luck and thanks again.
Got my 350 on the stand and a re buildable th 350 trans. Got a couple prospect s-10s I've seen from the road really want one with the bed full of trash!😂
I just built my 454 I’ve bored it over 30 and put 396 heads and camed the crap out of it but I’m not too sure if I need to get and weld motor mounts or can I use the existing mount holes as well as I’m not too sure which trans to go with to keep it manual
Chud, i'm not old enough to drive yet, but am strongly considering an S10. I have three questions. 1. How much did the whole project cost? The only thing I don't like about the truck is the 4 cylinder engine. 2. Was the effort worth it? 3. Was any fabricating or metal work done to fit the V8? I know the truck is little and probably doesn't need a large engine. But it's just so much cooler in my opinion. Thanks for a reply.
Brody Tunnell I've had S-10 with 4, 6, and 8 cylinders. If the original engine runs fine, I would change it. The 4 cylinder is not as cool as a V8, but it is much better on gas. The last truck I built had a blown up engine when I bought it. It was 2 truck bodies and a bunch of parts for $200. I could not turn that down. Then the build only cost me $600 just because I had a bunch of the part in my garage left over from other project. If you had nothing, it would probably take $3-5000. That is depending on how much you do to it and how nice it is, some people spend over $10,000, but I am not one of those people. To fit the V8in the S-10 all you need are special motor mounts and they are $69-$99, depending on which engine the truck came with. Then you'll bolt everything else on. It was worth the effort to my because I love working on stuff. And no the small truck doesn't need a V8, but it sure is nice, fun, cool, sound good, easy to work on, fast, great resale value, etc... If you don't want to do all the work, get one with the 4.3 V6. The Vortex 4.3's are a great engine. They last for ever and can be really fast. Or do what I did with my first V8 S-10. Some guy did all the work for me and then he got tired of the truck. I traded my stock 4X4 Chevy for his V8 S-10 plus he paid me $17,000. Now my truck was much newer and nicer, but I was selling it anyway. Hope this helps and start working on it now for when you turn driving age...
One_Clean _s13 I see it as simple, clean, and easy. Thanks for your comment / compliment. Did you see my 9 minute burnout compilation video from this morning?
If you watch my burn out videos, one has the ground, behind the plates, covered with black snow that is smoking. The kids couldn't figure out what all the black stuff was... Thanks for the comment.
next time you bleed your brakes use a piece of windshield washer rubber hose and push over the bleed screw and let the hose hang down into a bucket on the floor so you want squirt fluid all over your pretty painted work,,Rick
I have used the self bleeder like that but i don't have one. I could build one, but I guess I am too lazy for that, maybe next time. Thanks for watching.
I have an '89 s10 i'm wanting to do a 350 swap to but am clueless about it haha gonna have to give your videos a good run through several times :) thanks for sharing!
Gary Cifers It is my pleasure and the more time you watch them, the smarter you'll be. Thanks for the comment and good luck. Are you going to make us a video?
that is dope man great video and great truck ,I bought me a 91 s10 and I'm swapping a L's motor 5.3 vortex , and you just help me a lot when it comes down to the drive shaft and rear end thank man 👌👌
Looking good there buddy! I've heard a mixed bag of results on the air gap intake but am anxious to see your "seat of the pants" upgrades on the S10 and how it improves power and performance.
I went looking for that intake at the Daytona car show and found it. I had that it on my old 400 and I loved it. Thanks for the comment and I can't wait to see the upgrades too.
I raced a guy that had put a 302 in a Ranger once, that thing was so fast. It had a stock 302 with little street tire on back, but he knew just how to drive it. That or it had magical power. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
What transmission did you go with I’m fixing to start my build the truck was originally 2.2 5speed would love to stick with a 5 speed but just wondering what transmission would be the best for my application
I went with a turbo350, just because they are abundant and cheaper to find. I would rather have a 700r4 or even a new model auto. I love the idea of putting the 5 speed in one too. Good luck and thanks for watching.
this one is my favorite movie of all of them... this is the one I watch daily. I have found the 94-2000 s10 blazer has the tank in the right location for dual exhaust as well as the filler neck is on the drivers side. I am seriously considering that route when the weather gets better and now that I have a job I can afford some of the good things..what are the mufflers that you have on this truck, I like the sound. 69 camero looks good, but I am partial to the 15 inch z28. I have had 4 s10 in my life and all of them get the z28 rims
Wow, you watch it every day, you deserve a big thanks. Have you entered my Swiss Army knife giveaway yet? It would be super nice if a real fan won it. I think all the Blazers had the tank in the back, which is perfect for the dual exhaust. I had Flowmasters, but I don't know what series they were. I have loves S-10 with the Z/28 wheels too, It is a great and inexpensive way to make the truck look so good. I have had, I think, 14 S-10s in my time. That is if I haven't forgotten about one or two... Please keep watching it, that is some of the best news I have heard all day. Definitely the best comment of the day and maybe even the week. I can't wait to get my next S-10 project, I'll be sure to make some videos! BTW, I am working on a video that has some of all my old vehicles, currently there are 10 of my S-10 in that video...
Im thinking about doing a project like this and was wondering if I could do it for 2 grand? just to get it driveable and than I'll put more money into it every couple weeks when I get paid
+Gavin Cayan There are a lot of variables that you have to know. Do you already have a truck? Do you already have the V8 engine? If you have either, you should be able to do it for 2K. Summitracing.com sells V8 swap kits for $500 - $600 and they have pretty much every thing you need but a radiator. If you look on Craigslist you can probably find an engine for $500. Did your truck come with the 4.3, if so you can use the stock transmission. If not you are going to need 2 or 3 hundred to get you a trans. Like you said, 2K could probably get it running and then put more money into it every couple of weeks to finish it up. I would think it would work. I want to see some videos when you get it done.
chud327 I'm picking up an s10 for 250$ and I can pick up an engine and transmission for about 600$ Unfortunately it was just a four cylinder but I'm going to buy mostly used parts. The only thing I'm buying new is the V8 mounts
well I haven't made any videos on this build but I wish I did.. it came out pretty smooth...and im with u on tha burnouts lol ant nothing like smelling some burnt rubber...u got some kool vids to bro good job
What exact gas tank did you use because I'd like to do the same setup? Not a fan of a fuel cell on a street vehicle. I have the engine and trans already in, but I plan on adding vortec heads and a bigger cam soon, as well as a Edelbrock carb, the holley is fouling my plugs and giving me terrible gas milage on a stock 307. Thanks for the video and it was entertaining to watch.
I used a 1969 VW Beetle gas tank, but if I could go back, I would use the stock tank. It has the electric fuel pump and the gauge sending unit. It sounds like yours in going to be really sweet, do you have videos of it yet? thanks for watching.
Super impressed with the swap! I was just wondering what you did for a fuel system? Did you keep the return system or make it a returnless, also what was that fuel tank out of? Thanks!
Thanks and the fuel system was returnless. I used a tank out of an old VW beetle. Next time I plan to keep the stock tank with a pressure regulator and return, that is what I did on a V8 Blazer I did and it worked so great. Thanks for watching.
john ward If it is your first time, I would recommend getting the book from jagsthatrun.com. It used to be 19.95, but I was always too cheap to order it. It walks you through step by step. Other than that, take your time and do it the way you want it. I would also suggest that you build us a video of the whole process. Manual or automatic?
Well the S-10 will make you more of a Chevy man or it may make you hate them. Depends on how the build goes. What you described is what I would have done if I were no doing mine on such a tight budget. I went with a cheap 307 and my turbo350 was a left over from a previous project. 350 and 700r4 would have made my build much better! Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions that pop up... Regular cab or extended?
Looking to swap my 91 4x4 ext cab and 'm deciding between just getting a tbi 350 and carbing it or taking on the possible headache of an ls. I am leaning more towards old school but not sure where to start and if some things that are already in truck will work and line up or not. Any thoughts be great, thanks! Love the video by the way, better than the others I watched
I have already done or had 3 old school V8's. I hope to do a LS next time, if I ever do another. They are more expensive to start with, but in the long run, I believe it would be less expensive to own and operate. The LS's have a ton of power too... If you want to build one on a budget, I would probably go with a old school... Either way, would work for me. Keep me up to date on what you do and thanks for watching.
Did the 3:42 rear end drop your highway mph and rpm? And by how much? My 3:73 and turbo 350 scream 3000 r.p.m. at 55. And what gear locker set and part numbers please! Also I seen your motor mount plates were cut and you used the top hole, so did you have any issues with that being lowered into the frame? Like hitting the oil pan or fuel pump? I just drilled out my mount holes and it gave me 1/2 inch more clearance for my headers and stuff just didn't wanna go to low to sit the oil pan on the frame. Man you're a top mechanical engineer!
I never got mine on the highway enough to test it, some one bought it before I got tag and insurance on it. However, when I went to 3.42, that was high than what it came with. It should have raised top speed and lowered rpm's. I don't know the locker numbers, it came in the rear end when I bought it. I know it was made by Richmond. I had no issues with oil pan, fuel pump, exhaust, or anything hitting. Thanks so much for watching and I hope this helps.
You are doing a great job. I enjoying everyone of them. I have a ?. I got a 1985 s10 with a bad 2.8 I want to replace that 2.8 with a 1989 s10 Blazer 4.3. What I need to know. Thanks
@@chud327 I'm also going to pull the automatic transmission out of the s10 blazer sorry that I didn't say that. the 85 s10 also has a automatic transmission. what about the motor mounts I have new ones for the 4.3 and new trans. mount. I'm going to take out the s10 gas tank will the s10 blazer gas tank work? I'm 68 YEARS OLD I WANT TO DO ONE MORE HOBBY. Thanks, DIS.AM.VET. U.S. Army 1970-73
so what transmission fits a ‘69 chevelle driveshaft you used? i have an ‘83 chevy with a 350 in it i just don’t know what trans it has. i’m wanting to do a 350 swap s10 as well but i’m green on old school.
I used a turbo 350 and the drive shaft come out of a powerglide. I guess they are the same yokes. I hope this helps and good luck. Thanks for watching.
@@destinhook3826 Thank you so much and glad to help. I am glad you like my build, I just had a Navy guy calling it shoddy work that was going to injure someone.
A 4.3 v8 does exist in the mid 90s it was deemed the mini lt1 motor as far as one being in an f150 by ford idk and that would be a crime to put a ford motor in a Chevy anyway lol but the chevy _4.3 v8 is not bad it's like a 305 just with reverse cooling and fuel injection lol
very impressive man,,did you use a old style gm hei disributor cause thats what I want to use in mine,,I have my motor 80 % complete and will start soon ,,gotta find a good trans,,I want a 700 R4 4 speed auto,,,good job man and let me know if thats a older style GEI disributor you used,,thats what it looked like,,,Rick
It was the old style HEI, I used it because they are great, they fit, and that is what I had. I want a 700r4 for my next v8 S-10 build, they are a great choice.
I put a 350 with a carb in my 98 s10. I regulated the fuel pressure to 7 psi. When first cranked my truck up, the fuel pump would just give like a 5 second burst of gas and that was it. So I wired the fuel pump to a toggle switch so I can keep in on when the truck is running. Should this method be fine or do you have another idea?
That is a great question and I would guess it would be fine. However, I have never dealt with this issue, mine just worked when the key was on. I assume it stays on all the time, but you may want to double check with a source that has researched it a bit more than me. Thanks for watching and good luck with your truck.
Mine was a one wire alternator, you just run the wire from the alternator to the positive battery post. If your's in not a one wire, I don't know how to tell you to do it. Good luck.
hi! I'm conrad and I'm working on an s-10 84 4x4 truck that was my dads so i am doing a v-8 conversion. and the 350 engine is out of my 1979 chevy 1/2 ton that i am going to restore too as well following my s-10 v-8 conversion any thoughts on the build i like the s-10 video , so i have one
I tell you what chud327 I watched your videos 100 times over doing my first engine swap unfortunately I blew that engine shortly after completing the swap that was my first ever engine swap on my first vehicle its 6 years later and now I’m putting a 383 stroker with a T56 transmission in my 87 BMW You taught me a lot check out my channel!
Sorry to hear you blew your engine, but very glad to hear you are doing the 383, I have always wanted one of those... Loved the 100 times part and have you seen my latest S-10 V8 swap Z/28 budget build. I make my old one look bad and has really gotten great views and feedback. I would love to hear what you think and feel free to watch it 20 times. Maybe not 100 because it is 44 minutes long. Thanks for the update and planning to check you channel out now.
I have a 1985 s10 that I want to pull 2.8 with automatic and put a 1989 s10 4.3 motor and automatic transmission into and I have been doing a lot of reading from other guys and I understanding that motor will not work because of the steering column be in the way. how can a v8 fit if the steering column in the way. thanks
it the 4.3 came out of an S-10, it should go right back in an S-10 with no problems. The steering becomes and issue when you go to a V8 and try to use headers. However, they make headers that you steering goes through in that case. Good luck and thanks for watching.
I actually have a s10 93 2.8 liter. Am looking to do a v8 swap but don't know where to start if you have any pointers. Fully stock and sitting for 2 years so rusty
There are lots of videos on here, especially mine. There are websites too. If you go to jagsthatrun.com, they offer every part you will need. They also sell kits that have everything you need, but the engine and trans. They also have a book that walks you step by step through the process. I wish I would have bought the book instead of just figuring it out on my own. I hope this helps and good luck.
Nice build. What transmission did you use? Also I converted mine to disk brakes but they have no stopping power. I wanted to know if you had any idea why.
I used a turbo350, but would rather have had a 700r4. I don't know about your breaks, maybe bad booster, no vacuum, wrong proportioning valve... good luck and thanks for watching.
I didn't use the stock wiring, I ran a hot wire to the distributor to run it. The key only worked the starter on this one. Good luck and thanks for watching.
cant wait for spring when i'll be able to start my small block swap in my 87. I may have missed it in the video, but I was wondering what vehicle you got the rear end out of. The one in it right now is pretty well shot. excellent video!
I am about to do another, it has the 15 inch Camaro wheels currently on it, but I have a 16 inch too... we will see what it winds up with and thanks for watching.
There's another easy way to check to see if a rear axle is open or posi is by jacking the rear end up so the tires r off the ground, put in neutral and spin one of the tires by hand, if they both turn the same way its posi, and if they turn separate ways it's open... And u mite wanna put a different air cleaner on cuz that stock one will cost u horsepower... Just a couple tips that mite u or others... Thanks for showing your build, looks like a fun little truck
Good tip on the open vs. posi. As for the air filter, that little 307 wasn't really for power. It was just a cheap, good on gas, sounds good, getting it running engine. Maybe next time, we will get into some power. Thanks for watching.
Have you ever seen the show Engine Masters on the motor trend channel here on RUclips? If haven't you should check it out... They test all different High Performance parts on a dyno to give you real horsepower gains or losses...
thanks for making the video. I like the dual exhaust idea you had and moving the gas tank. I know you said it was a VW tank, but what vehicle model and year did it come from? thanks for taking the time to share what you learned. id like to do the gas tank swap to mine when I do the v8 swap next month.
Thanks you so much, I love making videos. As for the tank, I used a VW Beetle tank. The year of the bug is unknown, but it has to be one from a 1969 to about a 1972, those are the year bugs I had. However, I had a Blazer tank that I could have used. It would probably have worked better because of the electric fuel pump. Keep me updated on how you build is going and be sure to ask if you have any questions.
@@chud327 I got a 91 4.3 sonoma automatic, regular cab. Wanting to put in a v8. Can I keep factory frame mounts and is transmission mount going to need moved? Also, what is a good posi rear end that would bolt right up in mine? Mine is 308 open wheel.... Wanting a posi... I just realized this thread is 8yrs old. Lol, hope this message finds you doing well and I hear from you soon. Thanks
@@JoeJones-qg3de I think you can use the 4.3 mounts and the trans mount might work too. Just double check some how I could be wrong. I had a Camaro posi in one of mi e, but the should be other factory ones that work. I had a newer blazer with a factory locker, you might just change the whole rear end out. 8 years don’t matter, S-10s are still my weakness. Just put out a LT1swapped S-10 a little over a year ago, hope you will check that video out too.
I know I may be a little late on this thread but I have run into a exhaust manifold issue with my S10 Blazer LS 4x4 V8 swap. I am trying to instal a 97-99 5.7L Vortec into the blazer. The headers that came with the swap package are not working. I read about Camero manifolds but the mounting holes did not align. I noticed your headers in this video. We’re they custom made or manufactured? Can you share the information if I can purchase them or if I have to find a fabrication shop.
I did a 4X4 S-10 Blazer and I had to order headers that would work. I only found one set that would work and I think they were from Patriot Headers. For this truck, I used some headers off of the marketplace that were used and only $20. Good luck and thanks for watching.
I have a '88 shortbed with 4-popper and planned to do about the same, I have a 283 I plan to use, don't really need a race truck but with Vortec heads and some other modern upgrades it should run fine and be easy on the gas. I don't want a 10-12 mpg vehicle but I do want more power than the anemic 110 hp 4 cylinder, lol. I like the idea of the VW gas tank- from what model did yours come from? That's a lot better than mounting a tank in the bed. What size lowering blocks did you use? That's the other thing I wanted to address. Also- did you use another stock size rear end or did you go to a 8.5? I read where you can put a Ford 8.8 right under these trucks and just get a u-joint to convert. Those are tough rear ends. I have a guy offering me a Eaton posi-unit for the stock 7.5 and I am quite sure that would suffice for a mild motor, even a 350 engine with an automatic. Also I see most guys remove the entire front end but looks like that can be avoided. Thoughts? Thanks for the post.
+petersdraggon YOu are welcome, it is what I do. I will try to keep my answers short yet complete, sometimes I run on and on. I love a 283, that is what I want in my next V8 S-10. I have had 3 with V8's. (14 all together) I love those little things. I either want a 283, a 327, or a LS1 or LT1. All would be pretty good on gas and the LS1 will probably never happen, but that would be oh so nice. I like the VW tank it came from either a '69, '70, or '72. One of those, they all about the same. If I could go back I might just keep the stock tank, but they would not work with the dual exhaust I had. I used 3" blocks in the back and nothing but engine in the front. It was a stock s10 rear that some one had put a richmond locker in. 8.8 would also be good if it fits - I don't know. Eaton should be all you need for a light weight s10 pickup. I did not want to remove the front end, there is not a real need to. I did a Blazer that had the radiator core out, that was nice, but not necessary. Check out my Blazer video and let me know what you think - ruclips.net/video/8k5Jtf9woZQ/видео.html
did you have any problem with your headers hitting the shock mounts? my son is doing a 350 swap and his headers he bought are hitting the shock mount just enough to where he cant bolt it right up
I think this set fit perfectly, however, the one that I did before this one, I had to take a hammer and do a little denting to make them work. I hated to beat on my new / expensive header, but it worked. Hopefully, his header will not need to be dented too much and that will actually work. I wish I were there to help out. Thanks for watching and good luck.
Love it !!!! I've been wanting to do a S10 V8 swap since the early 80's. I e been sick since then and retired on a disability since then. Now I'm 56 and slot smarter so I think I may try it now. As far as cost and time, I have plenty of time so hopefully I can keep the cost down. Thanks a bunch for posting like I said love it man you insprider me. Tom P
I hope you subbed, I just picked a new s10 project two Saturdays ago. I will try to get it running with it 4 cylinder, but really want to do another V8 swap... Good luck on your build and keep me updated. If any questions pop up, feel free to ask. Thanks for watching.
Yep I Subscribed to your channel, been watching for a while now. I'm selling my every day driver to get started, no other way to do it. Looking for a local truck. Wish me luck.
I believe it was a power fluids, but I have had so many… I would prefer a 700r4. The shifter, I think, was a hurst quarter stick. Good luck and thanks for watching.
It only cost me $600 and that included the truck body. However, I did a lot of trading, craigslisting, and I had a lot of stuff already in stock. If you buy all new stuff, it can get expensive real fast. thanks for watching!
I think through swapping, trading, and using what I already had, it was about $600. Then I sold it for $2400 and another $400 for the Camaro wheels. I had to be patient to find the good deal, but it was worth it to me. Good luck and thanks for watching.
hey its me again... I was wondering about the differential, what model and year was the posi track... thanks for the video inspired me... I watch it when I pick up my wife from work.... I think I have memorized it
I don't know what year the rear end was, but the guy said it was from an S-10. The measurements were close to what I already had. You could just buy that locker and put it in you stock rear end. I am so glad you were inspired and I love the memorized part, that made my day!
I have the 4.3 on my extended bed s10, other then the motor and a motor swap kit what all would i need to replace? Its my impression that the stock trans will be able to bolt up to the 4.3.
I did a V8 swap into a Blazer 4.3 4X4 and everything behind the engine was all stock. The trans was stock, but I did put a new clutch into it. I don't know if the stock clutch would have worked. Everything on the front of you 4.3 should bolt to the old V8s too. I put sensors into the V8 and had all my gauges working too. Thanks for watching and best of luck.
I would guess, and hopefully Chevy guys won't hate me for saying this, a narrowed Ford 9". They are strong and super easy to change the gears. I had one, but sold it with my old Camaro... I hope this helps and thanks for watching. BTW, I am a Chevy guy myself...
What kind of pump did you run for your setup I’m currently putting a 89 vortec into my 03 s10 the motor has a carb swap I threw away my old gas tank and pump because of bad condition could I run a on the line fuel pump with a fuel cell or run stock tank with a electric pump
I have had three. One was an after market electric fuel pump, one was the stock in the stock tank, and one was a mechanical pump on the engine... I prefer the stock in the stock tank, unless you are going to have really high horse power. Good luck and thanks for watching.
also I just paid 240 dollars for a new edlebrock aluminum Quad intake,,it will handle both holley and quadrajet carbs,,,,,are you still running the 2 barrel here ?
I probably would be, but I got an offer that I couldn't refuse. I am currently looking for my next S-10 body. You know one that is in good shape and has a blown engine. Lets see a burn out from your when you get it done! Thanks for the comment and I have a bunch of V8 S-10 build video, I hope to hear from you again.
Hey man, you replied to me a while back and answered some queations for me on my search for a s10 bc I had sbc 327 laying around needing a home. I finally found and bought a truck in excellent condition with blown motor. I have another queation. I bought a 94' single cab gmc sonoma. 2.2L 4cyl 5 speed. What trans should I use from the choices I already have in my shop. A 350 turbo automatic that came out a 1980 corvette. Or should I keep it manual and use the 5 speed trans thats already in it. Seen that you can use that trans bc they sell a bell housing adapter for these swaps so that tranny can bolt to the v8 motor. I think having it 5 speed would be more fun but I'm wondering if the stock trans in it now will hold up if I bolt it to a v8 motor. I dont know anything Bout those transmissions in them early 90 models s10s. If they are good, strong, just ok etc...... If you dont respond ill know its bc you got tired of reading this long ass comment so I wont hold it against you if you dont make it this far down.. Lol..
I put a 350 in a 93 4x4 blazer that had a 4.3. I didn't need an adapter and everything bolt right up to the V8. However, it would not shift quick like I would have liked it to. If I were you, I would use the 2.2's 5 speed behind a V8. I would want a 5 speed out of a vette, Camaro, or Firebird, but that would be about $1000... the turbo 350 would work great and you already have it, but you would have to get a shifter and transmission cooler, which could be money that goes toward a better 5 or even 6 speed trans. The adapter would probably be kinda high and that could be more money used toward the better trans. It is just what ever you want to do really. BTW, I am so jealous that you have a 327. Keep me updated on what you decide...
chud327 Thanks for responding! Yea so the turbo 350 trans. I have come out my step dads vette bc he put a manual 4 speed trans in it. So i have the 350 trans and shifter already. Thinking I could go to a pick and pull yard like LKQ and get a trans cooler cheap. So sticking that automatic trans in it would probably be cheaper as I only would need a trans cooler.. Then when I found out I could make the 5 speed manual trans that came in the truck already work it got me thinking if I should do that instead bc originally I was planning on putting the 350 trans in it. I guess now my only concern is which trans is better and will last longer. The 350 will bolt right up but then my truck will be automatic. The trans in it now I can make work so I can keep the truck a manual but wondering how long that trans will last taking it from a 4 cylinder motor and bolting it to a v8 motor. Don't wanna buy the bell housing to make it work then destroy the trans bc it can't keep up with the v8 ya know? And yea I got lucky running across the 327. Guy had a 64 impala and wanted a 454 put in it. He let me keep the 327 that we pulled out of it.
Nice that you already have the shifter too. An oil cooler should be cheap even if you have to go with a new one. I am getting excited about your build.
yeah im actually in the process of a 350 s10 swap right now just need the radiator and the mufflers and itl be ready for tags and inspection thanks for replying ....
The brother-in-law gave them to me, I don't remember where he found them. I had them on the self for a long time before actually using them too. Thanks for watching.
When they are closed do they leak exhaust into the cab from under the truck? Or are they pretty air tight once closed? I'm debating whether I should go with this set up on my 1985 Ford Ranger V8 (302) with a c4 automatic and 8.8 rear end from a explorer. www.opgi.com/exhaust/header-accessories/cable-operated-exhaust-cutouts8/exhaust-cut-out-cable-operated-mr-gasket-ch24872.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwj6SEBhAOEiwAvFRuKASS02BuK7NUfHr9BKuSP8bKO_7hfYmrKUuHctpT8zbO2Jy8U_IvqRoCVfgQAvD_BwE

I love a 400. sounds like a mean machine. Thanks for watching.

snowmangsx1100 Thanks, I almost did another at the beginning of summer. Some guy was selling one in my town. I had an LS motor in it that had been pulled. Everything was there except for an engine and transmission and he only wanted $700. Long story short: It sold before I could get to it...

chud327 hey man, I'm building me a truck for my first vehicle.
$200.oo.

Try to find a LS
hey a quick tip on bleeding your brakes,,next time your at auto zone buy you a a foot or so of wind shield wiper washer hose or some of the very small gas line that will cup over the end of the bleeder screw and hand to the ground or into a bottle and you can save the mess of it srpaying all over your rear housing and brake dust covers,,also if you can have someone to help you use a short enough piece of hose and let the end go down into a bottle of brake fluid and all you have to do is pump the brakes and release and it will take the air out,,long as the level in the bottle is above the hose it want let air get back in but requires the bottle to be close to the wheel cylinder.
snowmangsx1100 I used to have one that had a short hose and a magnet on it, but I don't know what happened to it. I should make up another and make a video. I am on the edge of bleeding the brakes on my dune buggy project. I'll try to build another bleeder device for that.
Gonna be a couple years till I build one of these bad boys, that way I can spend as much as I please on it. your videos are great.

Its nice to you work on something you love, geeat video!! Thanks for Sharing
Yes, i do love working on stuff, do it show in my videos? Thanks

If you can buy most stuff used you may be able to stay under the 2K. $250 for an S-10, can you find me a couple? Keep me updated on your progress!

Love it I have a 99 s10 I plan on putting a 350 in it any suggestions?
john ward If it is your first time, I would recommend getting the book from jagsthatrun.com. It used to be 19.95, but I was always too cheap to order it. It walks you through step by step. Other than that, take your time and do it the way you want it. I would also suggest that you build us a video of the whole process. Manual or automatic?
As am i. I'm going to try for a 700r4 auto with a 350 maybe a mild cam in it. chevys are not my thing I run dodges so wish me luck lol
Thanks
You will need the transmission too and the computer system to make it work. After that, you'll have a great little truck. Thanks for watching.

I'm also going to pull the automatic transmission out of the s10 blazer sorry that I didn't say that. the 85 s10 also has a automatic transmission. what about the motor mounts I have new ones for the 4.3 and new trans.
Thanks for watching.
chud327 thanks for the quick reply! sick truck and i like the patience and thought you have in your builds man
@@destinhook3826 Thank you so much and glad to help. I am glad you like my build, I just had a Navy guy calling it shoddy work that was going to injure someone.
I was looking at those earlier 2000’s 4.3 V8s so durable on the F150s and wondering if it would fit in a S10, my favorite truck.
I love the little S-10's too. I have had around 20-21 of them. Thanks for watching.
I bet that little gas tank is a pisser, but I fucking love that truck. I've got the time now with a new job to do mine
To go back, I would keep the stock tank. Good luck on you build and thanks for watching.
That's why I subscribed, Very cool stuff man. Great Work Too. Thanks🍎
Best news I have heard all day, sorry I am just seeing your comment. Thanks for watching.
very impressive man,,did you use a old style gm hei disributor cause thats what I want to use in mine,,I have my motor 80 % complete and will start soon ,,gotta find a good trans,,I want a 700 R4 4 speed auto,,,good job man and let me know if thats a older style GEI disributor you used,,thats what it looked like,,,Rick
It was the old style HEI, I used it because they are great, they fit, and that is what I had. I want a 700r4 for my next v8 S-10 build, they are a great choice.

HAHAHA AWESOME stuff Love the desk chair at the gate.
Funny and thanks so much for watching.
Nice it would have ben Esser to put the cam intake and carb on when the engine was out y dont you put a new manifold on to
Good point, I will try that next time. Thanks for watching.
Hey I'm almost finished but how do you have your alternator wired mine won't seem to charge the battery and I got the alternator checked and it's fine
Mine was a one wire alternator, you just run the wire from the alternator to the positive battery post. If your's in not a one wire, I don't know how to tell you to do it. Good luck.
hi! I'm conrad and I'm working on an s-10 84 4x4 truck that was my dads so i am doing a v-8 conversion. and the 350 engine is out of my 1979 chevy 1/2 ton that i am going to restore too as well following my s-10 v-8 conversion any thoughts on the build

How did you like this engine as a daily?
I never drove it as a daily, sold it too quick, but those are great engines... thanks for watching.
Nice Attitude, If Only I Could Hot Wire The Couch. Tie Into Alarm Of Cel Phone Each Time I Touch The Thing.
Funny and thank you for watching
Did you use the stock wiring harness and if you did and you explain what wires you kept and which ones you didn't use

Leave it n park if u can't turn the tires it's posi of one turns the the other turns the oposite way it's open
thanks for making the video.

That's a pretty cool truck buddy

chud327 I like the "rat rod" style
Thanks, have you seen my dune buggy build? It is even more rat rod. Thanks for the reply.
+petersdraggon My response may go to spam, it has a link in it.
did you have any problem with your headers hitting the shock mounts? my son is doing a 350 swap and his headers he bought are hitting the shock mount just enough to where he cant bolt it right up
I think this set fit perfectly, however, the one that I did before this one, I had to take a hammer and do a little denting to make them work.
I believe it was a power fluids, but I have had so many… I would prefer a 700r4. The shifter, I think, was a hurst quarter stick. Good luck and thanks for watching.
How much money did it cost you to put the v8 in? I saw that you did it yourself, I'm just wondering the parts cost
It only cost me $600 and that included the truck body. However, I did a lot of trading, craigslisting, and I had a lot of stuff already in stock. If you buy all new stuff, it can get expensive real fast. thanks for watching!

Me and my dad are gonna get an s10 and swap it. If you don’t mind me asking how much did this build cost?.

So what’s the best rear end i can get for my s10 1991 2.5. Been struggling to figure shit like this out, u give out pretty great advice
I would guess, and hopefully Chevy guys won't hate me for saying this, a narrowed Ford 9". They are strong and super easy to change the gears. I had one, but sold it with my old Camaro... I hope this helps and thanks for watching. BTW, I am a Chevy guy myself...
Curry makes a complete bolt in 9 in kit that is four link costs about $1000. Well worth it
Ive seen some vids where the firewall had to be beat with a hammer because there wasnt enough room, did you have to do any of that?
Jerimy Williamson my firewall was just fine. I did have a Blazer that need slight firewall tapping, ut no this build. Thanks for watching.
Did you have power steering on this truck??
yes, If I remember correctly, it had power steering. thanks for watching and good luck on your build.

Thanks, you too.
