Jmalcom2004 what rearend are you using? I have a 1990 step side with a built 355, built 700R4 and a 410 gear with an auburn carrier. I’m looking to build an s10 to save around 850lbs curious to know what rear end your using and how it’s holding up.

Bad? As in not good? The Iron Duke was one of the best 4cyl engines GM ever made. That's how it earned that name. Bulletproof. I have had 2.8 V6 trucks too that I beat on relentlessly for years in food service delivery that showed great reliability. The 4.3L is a 350 with two cylinders cut off. To say a 4.3 is a "bad" motor is ridiculous. That's like saying a Chevy small balck is a bad motor. Perfect engines? Heck no, but you still see quite a few running the roads today in original form, and they haven't made a truck in the original style in 30 years.

It can be done pretty cheap if you currently have a 4.3. The motor mounts and transmission bolt right up if I’m not mistaken, the trans won’t last long though.
Daniel Martin I have one, but I think it was originally a 2.8 5-speed. How much of a problem would it be to swap in a 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 LS/Vortec in it? I plan on buying the motor/transmission combo out of a wrecked model (Silverado, Tahoe, maybe Vette/Camaro if I get lucky)

cliffbadazz318 probably putting down somewhere 300 and 400. I remember him saying this isn’t a serious build so I can’t imagine it’s making big numbers. doesn’t take big power to send it with an S dime though 😂

I’m going to say around 360-380hp. It’s sounds like a healthy cam, it’s got vortec heads which flow pretty damn good, I guess it all depends on what compression the bottom end makes with those 64cc heads. I’ve seen 10:5.1 motors with those heads make a little over 400hp at the crank.
cliffbadazz318 prb 300 to the wheels naturally aspirated and it’ll be around 450-470 on nitrous. It’ll be going on the dyno soon. And it doesn’t have stock heads. Heads are aftermarket. Go check out my $5000 budget build playlist and look at all the episodes whenever you have time. I filmed the build from start to finish

Compared to the 2.5 4 cylinder, or the 2.8 v6, 250whp is ALOT. Especially with no weight over the rear. Me and a couple buddies swapped an S10 in high school, and a totslly stock 350/th350 combo, with a welded rear end, went 14.0 at 100mph.

Love the truck man just started building my own it's come a long way in the last eight months from the little Vortec V6 it was check it out and tell me what you think almost done with it. Subscribe to my channel always adding new videos every time I add something to the truck only thing I got left now are some better tires and some traction bars. At the moment has a pretty bad well hop from a dig have a 350 with a small cam 410 gears and a mini spool check it out tell me what you think keep up the good videos
