This video saved me another repair bill! My spin cycle had stopped working. I called a repair guy who came out and spent a half hour trying to get it to recalibrate. He finally did and left. Washer still didn't work right. I looked in it and found a penny wedged between the agitator and the wall. I pulled the penny out and it still didn't work right. I dreaded trying to recalibrate it myself because of how difficult it was for the repairman. I pulled up this video and recalibrated it on the first try!
Agreed - everything looked just as you said UNTIL I got to the 'Click until Rinse light only THEN press Start'. Not your fault, but nothing happened. Any ideas? :)
My whirlpool wouldnt spin... I was literally getting ready to go buy a new one! I found the video on how to find the codes... but didnt bother taking the top off to reach the book to see what the codes were! Found this video... Did the calibration... whalah... its working!!! Thanks dude!
My Whirlpool had not been completing the spin cycle. Who knows; it may not have even been going through any of the cycles! I was about to call a repair person, and dreading it! I have learned a lot of dyi's on RUclips, so as a last resort, yours was the first channel. What do you know? IT WORKED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thank you soooooooo much. It worked like a dream. I literally saved over R2600 on having it fixed. Sending love and thanks for Cape Town South Africa. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
My 60s and 80 era washers lasted 20 years with no issues. No control boards , no electronics. They just worked and hardly ever broke.....and if they did it was an easy fix. What a conspiracy today. There is no reason to make a washing machine so sophisticated with hi tech.
Yes!! My dad just took out a hot water heater from my grandma's (his mom) house that was made in the 1940s!! That thing was so heavy! But, made to last without a doubt.
Thank you. I just had a repairman to come out to my house to do this same thing. He dodged me about how to do this. $89 down the tube. I just did this following your instructions, and it worked.
Hi could you please assist me. I have the same model machine. It's full with water and doesn't drain. It's been stuck. I dont know what to do. Much love from johannesburg South Africa
How are you able to open the lid and look in during automatic test mode or calibration? I thought the lid had to be locked for these procedures? Would love to know how you do that?! :)
Unscrew the latch from under the lid and just stick it in the latch on the washer body. You can raise it whenever because it thinks the lid is down. The lid won't sit flush but it doesn't hurt anything.
Thanks so much! I thought I was going to have to buy a new one! We had a power outage and it wouldnt come back on! This worked perfectly! You're a lifesaver!☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
Hello , thanks for the video, I have to ask one question. If the lid lock is not working properly would the start/stop button work and with out the button working how can tell if its not the motherboard as well
Eugene that is helpful my Grandma owns the 2013 Maytag centennial washer 5 years with no repairs. The only thing I have to do was to stop the washer from restarting the cycle on it's own the endless cycle loop that's pretty much it.
I think something is wrong with my washer everything work as you showed, except when got to the spinning part, it didn't spin at all and the "lid locked" light was blinking red.
Bought an LG front loader based upon your recommendation. I'm loving it so far. It's amazing how much better it does at cleaning than my previous front loader. I wish I was in your area to give you the business. Can you recommend any dishwashers, by chance?

Lorain Furniture & Appliance I wonder if the washer I have has a calibration mode? My washer is a KitchenAid Superba model KAWS850JQ4 : purchased brand new on 08.02.2002 serial: CM2712165 TYPE: 111.
Have the exact same washer. Sometimes it starts to get violent in the spin mode. When it starts sometimes it stops and restarts and its fine. Other times we have to turn it off and just ring the clothes out. With it being winter my wife is complaining. Is there a part that controls the tension against the basket that keeps it from swinging out of center?
It might be the stabilizing bars. There are four of them. I had to replace one of mine when my washer sounded like it was about to explode. Hope this helps.
Tried the directions a couple of times. Thanks for providing it but unfortunately it didn't work with mine. Now my "lid locked" light is on and wont go off....can't open the washer lid now
If i replaced the actuator, do I have to recalibrate the machine? I have that exact washer in the video . It's about 11 years old and it doesn't spin to sense anymore nor does it spin after rinsing and draining but it does everything else. I replaced the shift actuator last night and it's still not working properly. Do I have to recalibrate, replace something else or replace the whole machine? Please help!
I had to replace a bad control board on a 2 & 1/2 year old washer. I installed and calibrated it as per the instructions. The first load did not fill with much water and would not agitate. The fault/error codes read F7E1, basket speed fault.? I ran the drive tests without any error. I cut the power and checked all the connections. I did the calibration again and was able to wash a small load on another setting. Switched from bulky to whites. Does it harm anything to recalibrate more than once?
Can you tell me what might be going on with my washer??? It will fill in each cycle, but it won't actually Wash after the sensing mode is done. It's fine this on Extra Heavy and now Heavy load. Also, how do you have the lid open while the machine is working????
@@katiepelliccio1842 No. I've bought and put on a new hot/cold valve as suggested by a local repair man after I told him about my error codes, but it didn't help my problem. I'm now down to maybe 5 cycles that work properly. I went to wash sheets this weekend on my Bulky setting, and it doesn't work either. So I now have Heavy, Regular, Rinse and Spin and maybe 2 other cycles not including Machine Cleaning. I did all the work on my old washer until the tub rotted out. I miss my old Sears Kenmore. 😢💔
@@robinhowell9834 that's a bummer. I was hoping for good news. I just ran mine with nothing in it and it sat on the sensing cycle for about 15 minutes. But it did finally go all the way through. Haven't tried it with weight back in it though. Nervous and tired of messing with it tonight. Thanks for your help!
If your washer is an HE unit, it is designed that way. On page 12 my manual (under Troubleshooting) there is a 'symptom' of "Not enough water in washer" then "Load not completely covered in water" - the solution states, "This is normal operation for an HE low-water washer." It goes on, but your manual addresses it. That's why we always say RTFM.
What is after turning the dials, the machine STILL won't reset? It just has a "sensing" blinking light. It doesn't matter I turn the dial, it doesn't change anything. I'm so frustrated!!!
@@anma7002 yeah because as long as the lid doesn't lock the barrel wouldn't spin. I unplugged it for 36 hours and I was able to complete 1 load but it stopped after that..

what do you mean by “not working properly?” my goes to start and the lid lock just blinks after it locks for a moment

Mine seems to run the drain pump for waaay too long then just stops and takes forever to do anything? Any advise? Thanks
Did you find a solution, mine i have a similar model to the washer in the video and it is just running the pump for several minutes
Mine doesn’t agitate, but will go through all the cycles. The biggest problem is the clothes aren’t washing throughly, as I assume.

Would this work on all whirlpool if not how do I get my model whirlpool to work it won't was or rinse its just drain and spin dry

What does the other lights do when you start them???
