She had a unique look that made her instantly recognizable. You can't buy that. Her nose complemented the twinkle in her eyes. She still looks nice but in a different way.
It's not just the nose. It's all of her facial features. Find one of those before and after side by side photos of Jennifer. Cover up the nose on both photos. She doesn't look the same even when you can't see the noses. Some people's faces just change a lot through the natural aging process. The aging face types are sagger, sinker, or wrinkler. I think Jennifer is a sinker, which really changes your facial appearance. A good plastic surgeon could absolutely adjust her nose to something closers to what it was. But who bother? The rest of her face looks different too.
she most definately had a unique look! ill never forget the feeling of dismay i felt when i just did not recognise her with that false new nose! oh young women take heed. God created us and knows what parts to put together.

It’s a strange thing that often happens with hugely successful films, in which one actor seems to take off like a rocket and another one seems to stay right in place. Both were equally responsible for the success of dirty dancing, yet Patrick Swayze was the one that got rewarded with a great career. She basically stayed in place. It’s odd. But it happens.

“All that”? It was one nose job, and a revision. 99.9% of people in the entertainment industry have had a nose job, and most nose jobs will need a revision (if you only need one revision, you’re lucky). So well done.. We create our paths in life with just a nudge to stop or proceed. Listen to that split second. Her saying she was thankful for her father's self sacrifice was incredibly true. I knew men within that era that couldn't be themselves and others even 30 years ago that made the same choices for the same reasons.
dennis reagan....Dayam, Dennis! Now WHY did you have to go and write EXACTLY what I was going to write about her?? Well, it's okay because you wrote the TRUTH!! She IS absolutely gorgeous. Thanks, buddy. :-)
Jennifer Grey didn't want Patrick to play the part of Johnny Castle but the producers wouldn't have it any other way. It would have been a different movie without Patrick cause he was just awesome in Dirty Dancing. I am glad that Jennifer came around and realized that Patrick was the right person for the part of Johnny. Jennifer had dance experience too so it made the movie a timeless classic that we can still watch all of these years later and still enjoy it.
I met her in a bar in LA when she was maybe in her early thirties. I didn't recognize her at first, but I doubt it was because of her surgery; I knew her only from pictures in newspapers. Gradually it dawned on me that this beautiful girl might be Jennifer Grey and I asked one of her friends -- she was with a group of friends -- if her name was Jennifer and the friend confirmed reluctantly. She was much more beautiful in person than in any picture I'd ever seen, and she seemed nice also. I was kind of flirting with her until I realized that one of the guys in her group of friends must be her boyfriend. He was an agent at a big agency called CAA. Jay, I think his name was. He died young. I'm assuming she writes about him in her book.
Jay Moloney, a Hollywood agent superstar, and that from a young age. Died by suicide in 1999 at the age of 35. See Vanity Fair article "Golden Boy Lost". He couldn't kick a coke habit, amongst several demons he battled. RIP.
I hope young people see this interview and re-think the idea of getting unnecessary plastic surgery. Jennifer went from uniquely beautiful to unremarkable. Such a shame.
She was pretty after and adorable before. However she felt it was necessary. She still has the same eyes.. I can’t believe the airline employee didn’t recognize her.
She's very pretty either way. It's too bad everyone wants to look the same now. Same nose, lips...Yes, that's also beautiful, but it's boring when everyone has the same facial features.
Show-biz is not forgiving; it's not easy having a career and also taking care of yourself. I'm glad Jennifer Grey is getting another bite at the show-biz apple; she deserves it 👏👏👏👏
People need to stop looking at the outer, and look the inside a person. Beauty truly comes from within, not from a knife or injection. It is a shame that Jennifer felt she had to have the plastic surgery to get work, to support herself. Jennifer seems like one of those that has the inner beauty
It pains me to know how unhappy she was (or moreso, how OTHERS were unhappy) over her nose. I think large noses are actually quite attractive on women, but at the same time, her plastic surgery seems to have been so TASTEFULLY done; she doesn't look like the "Joker" from Batman like so many who abuse plastic surgery do. What a beautiful lady, and I'm SO excited to hear about the SEQUEL to Dirty Dancing... I hope this comes about!
I don’t know how ANYONE could say that this woman wasn’t beautiful due to her nose. She is stunning, and she’s one of my favorite actors. To go through all that due to her nose. Her nose was part of her character, who she was, and since some people are so mean, she had to change that in order to support herself. This really needs to stop. Woman should be themselves without having to have some type of plastic surgery (in this case), in order to support themselves. She’s gorgeous either way, but I loved her look before she had surgery.
Worst of all… it didn’t work! The change was too extreme, and she wasn’t recognized. That must have so painful! I kept waiting for her to get parts over ther years, but she never did. Her fans and Hollywood missed out on seeing more of her terrific talent, I thought she was going on to become a superstar… she was that good in that movie.
There was NOTHING wrong with her nose. Point, blank, period. She should have kept her authentic look. Look at Sarah Jessica Parker & Barbra Steisand they didn't change their noses, and they got work. It's that Hollywood crap!!
I loved her nose i thought it gave her face REAL character !! Like barbra striesand can you imagine her face with a different nose it just wouldnt work i mean i always thought she was stunning BECAUSE her face wasnt perfect it gave her strength and charisma!!
That's the problem with our society" change and you will be somebody change and you will be loved but if you do what everyone else says you will never be happy society should accept us all just as we are! Love yourself and everything else falls into place..... Had to learn that the hard way. Great classic movie and she is beautiful before and after! Loved her either way.
I agree 100% with you. I also believe people should embrace what makes them different and not try to fit the mould from early childhood, which I wish more people could teach their kids as they develop.
I agree with so many previous comments. Baby was so lovable and beautiful back during the Dirty Dancing days, but she's even more beautiful today and not because of the surgery. She's blessed to have aged so beautifully! I've seen interviews with her that she's teared up when talking about Patrick.

I have a large nose, myself and I looked up to Barbara Streisand, Jennifer Grey, Cher and other female actresses and singers that were unique and pretty with their large noses. They were the reason I was able to accept myself the way I am. I'm disappointed and some what hurt and betrayed that they " sold out" to Hollywierd's idea of what is pretty and not pretty. Thank you Barbara for sticking to your natural looks.
Jennifer is a True American Gem - I LOVE JENNIFER GREY and I always have. She is a kind and genuine human being and it is very obvious she is the real deal. I wish I knew her. I would be more blessed than I already am to have this lady for my friend. Who doesn't want kind hearted adn good people in their lives? I love that she's so close to her parents adn talks to them every day. More people should be like this woman. She looks really great too! Never hurts to be so pretty and the nose job thing is just sad, wasn't necessary either but it never should have changed anything about her career that is the sad part. The industry insiders are so superficial. But I thinks times have changed much since all that nonsense. Good luck Jennifer with all you do. You're a success and you deserve to be. Congrats to you.
If you hear the whole story about her nose it sounds like the problem was with the doctor. She had a first surgery, which was subtle and just made her more photogenic, but she said she felt like a piece of cartilage in the tip had shifted and she needed a correction, but the doctor screwed up the revision and took half of her nose away. She's still good-looking, just sooooo different.
The thing is, it’s actually a really good nose job. But it changed her look drastically and that isn’t a good career move when you’re famous and the public is used to how you look.
"Wind" with Mathew Modine was an awesome movie. Dirty Dancing and Wind are still 2 movies I have watched more times I can remember and can still enjoy watching again.
Compared to what some of the celebrities do nowadays, her look is actually quite natural and beautiful. Her personality seems humble and likeable. I can actually still see baby in her eyes.
She really understands what it’s all about!!! Learning DOES HAPPEN in the difficult times!!! Her father being gay and how grateful she felt for his sacrifice!!! Well done you, Ms. Grey!!!
That last photo of her really shows her Jewish ancestry. You can really see it in her face. Did not know she was Joel Grey's daughter. Wow. That's crazy.
From 1987 when DD came out till Patrick's death in 2009, she had plenty of time to apologize to him. Can't believe she's still relevant bc of DD and Patrick who has been gone over 12 years. Oh and there will never be another DD without PS

I totally get the Jewish notes thing. And that’s exactly right everyone had a nose job except for Barbra Streisand.😂 And she is beautiful inside and out. Enjoyed the interview so much.❤I’m going to buy the book!! 📚
No, it's really just her nose. At least it was. Some people are like that, one minor tweak at a defining characteristic and everything seems to change. She couldn't have known it before she did it. Her nose made her face. It's like when Renee Zellweger had her eyelids done, and she became unrecognizable and everyone thought her whole face was done, but no, it was just the eyelids. She got them back the way they were and now she is herself again.

For her, her nose happened to be a defining feature of her face, and it had a big impact on her overall appearance. She looks great, just different. But it’s not because she had a ton of surgery.
@@dewilew2137 She's had more than her nose done. She's had her cheeks and eyes done as well. She is unrecognizable. They even had a short lived sitcom starring Jennifer Grey about how her nose job ruined her career because no one recognized her anymore.
@@dewilew2137 ...and "99.9%" of people in the industry get nose jobs is absolutely ridiculous. Its nowhere near that, not even close. Its a shame though that they feel compelled to do these things to their appearance just to stay relevant.
@dewile137
She’s truly amazing, so humble and intelligent
We all wish we could of said "I'm Sorry" to someone who is now gone. Life is full of regrets, but "NEVER PUT BABY IN THE CORNER". Miss you, Patrick.
Jennifer is, and always will be gorgeous!
So well done..
We create our paths in life with just a nudge to stop or proceed. Listen to that split second.
Her saying she was thankful for her father's self sacrifice was incredibly true. I knew men within that era that couldn't be themselves and others even 30 years ago that made the same choices for the same reasons.
I think she is gorgeous! She does look different, but WOW she was cute before.. but she is absolutely gorgeous 😍
dennis reagan....Dayam, Dennis!
_"Ferris Bueller's Day Off"_ and _"Dirty Dancing"_ both Classic and Timeless movies❤️
Yes! I thought for sure she would say these are the 2 things she is known for.
She is an alluring actress! Her timing is always spot on and she is happily memorable in many ways! ❤❤❤
Her natural face was unique and recognizable. I wouldn't change that at all.
She was young and was only listening to her parents and relatives which by the way got their nose done!
Great interview and a seemingly wonderful person and actress ! Dirty Dancing one of my most favorite movies ever !
Favorite movie of all time! If you can be famous for 1 thing I'd be proud of the fact that this is it.
I love her. She has had such incredible grace and strength.
She’s absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you for airing this great interview.
Love her! She's every bit as wonderful and adorable as her character in Dirty Dancing, even decades later.
She looked great before and she looks great now.
Loved her either way.
very true
I agree 100% with you. I also believe people should embrace what makes them different and not try to fit the mould from early childhood, which I wish more people could teach their kids as they develop.
I agree with so many previous comments. Baby was so lovable and beautiful back during the Dirty Dancing days, but she's even more beautiful today and not because of the surgery. She's blessed to have aged so beautifully! I've seen interviews with her that she's teared up when talking about Patrick.
She is very fortunate to have her parents still alive!
Patrick died 14th September 2009 Friday I remember that day was suppose be happy day after weeks months in coma rehab hospital learning talk walk again been a recovery massive discovery never ever give up on yourself many will never yourselves keep going doing amazing things stay strong stay safe stay positive sending luck hugs love from headway Nottingham UK takecare xxx
Jennifer grey can do what she wants. Everyone should leave her alone. Ryan r
I dont care about the outside stuff. We love you Jennifer.
Here,here
Read her book! It’s great. I absolutely loved it.
Jennifer Grey was gorgeous before her nose job, and she's gorgeous afterwards too. 💯
She is stunning
If you hear the whole story about her nose it sounds like the problem was with the doctor. She had a first surgery, which was subtle and just made her more photogenic, but she said she felt like a piece of cartilage in the tip had shifted and she needed a correction, but the doctor screwed up the revision and took half of her nose away. She's still good-looking, just sooooo different.
36 years later and she still looks amazing ❤
She seems like a true beautiful soul ❤
Luv her! She is…and stays absolutely fantastic!!! 💫💫💫💫💫
The thing is, it’s actually a really good nose job. But it changed her look drastically and that isn’t a good career move when you’re famous and the public is used to how you look.
Patrick Swayze was in alot of pain in the famous scene holding her up. He had knee pain in that scene; he said in an interview. M arr
"Wind" with Mathew Modine was an awesome movie. Dirty Dancing and Wind are still 2 movies I have watched more times I can remember and can still enjoy watching again.
She is just stunning.
Yes she’s definitely unrecognizable as the young woman she once was BUT she still looks good. The work she’s had done looks amazing!
I loved Dirty Dancing. My oldest daughter was born that year.
I was born in 1988 and fell in love with anything and everything 80's and still to this day but Jennifer Grey will always be my celebrity crush.
She is amazing, so down to Earth. Love her❤
Compared to what some of the celebrities do nowadays, her look is actually quite natural and beautiful. Her personality seems humble and likeable. I can actually still see baby in her eyes.
Well, she looks amazing now! Seems very kind as well.
She really understands what it’s all about!!!
Learning DOES HAPPEN in the difficult times!!!
Her father being gay and how grateful she felt for his sacrifice!!!
Well done you, Ms. Grey!!!
Loved her nose... so unique.
What a charming and intelligent beauty. It is a pleasure to see her do this interview.
Shes beautiful ❤
That last photo of her really shows her Jewish ancestry. You can really see it in her face. Did not know she was Joel Grey's daughter. Wow. That's crazy.
From 1987 when DD came out till Patrick's death in 2009, she had plenty of time to apologize to him. Can't believe she's still relevant bc of DD and Patrick who has been gone over 12 years. Oh and there will never be another DD without PS
I like her!!! I like her so much!! I have never listened to an JG interview, nor have I kept up with her career since her most iconic roles. But hearing her speak, listening to her thoughts, I am impressed by JG’s character & what a lovely personality. I feel as though we would be good friends!! That is a great feeling to impart to people who have never met you. I hope to see more of her, as it would be such a treat.🫶🏻
Good for her. Glad to see her again. 🌷
Absolutely could not get into the book. However, I love her as an actress and happy to see her success.
One of the fortunate ones who had plastic surgery and came out better( imo). Too bad she wasn't able then to stop it, but she can take heart in that she was , and obviously still is, a lovely person.
Meryl Streep has a nose and look how successful she has been. Jennifer is multi-talented. I hope she gets another chance to prove her metal. Good luck Jennifer and I hope we get to see you soon on the
screen. 🥰
Her shnoz made her unique. She's still a lovely woman and seems like a very good person.
She was gorgeous then and still is now. 😍
I totally get the Jewish notes thing. And that’s exactly right everyone had a nose job except for Barbra Streisand.😂 And she is beautiful inside and out. Enjoyed the interview so much.❤I’m going to buy the book!! 📚
She doesn't even look like Jennifer Grey, that looks like major plastic surgery
She has owned it. Her look has grown on me over the years. I can still see her original look. She's lovely either way.
@@WH2012 yeah it's just a shock if you don't see her for a long time, but of course she is beautiful.
@@kbanghart Agreed!
I loved seeing her be so true. She is an amazing women ❤
She was pretty. She was gorgeous. She was absolutely beautiful.
Jennifer , you were BEAUTIFUL then, and you are BEAUTIFUL now.
but she doesn't look like the same person.
Why is this world her judge?@@camelliam.4235
